EDIT: Those questions are honestly great and could lead for very good ideas. They are way more involved with the community than I thought. Curious to see how would the project shape.

  1. What makes you excited about the possibilities of this game?

  2. What made you want to learn more about the project?

  3. What's the most memorable, unscripted thing that's ever happened to you in an RPG?

  4. What's your favorite non-combat thing to do in an RPG?

  5. What's the least satisfying part of RPGs for you?

  6. What kind of character do you usually play, and what kind do you WISH you could play? Not just late-game power fantasy (king, head of a guild, a lich, a god), but in the start and middle of the game.

  7. In what proportions are you an Achiever, Killer, Socializer and Explorer (according to the diagram located below these questions):
    1. Killers: These characters enjoy creating chaos and challenging authority by attempting to alter the functioning of the game’s world and and trying to affect the experience for other players.

    2. Achievers: Their goal is to accumulate status, loot, and points by winning the various battles within in the game; they tend to follow the game’s rules (unlike the killers).

    3. Explorers: They want to discover the systems that govern the function of the game world, understand their technicalities and uniquenesses, and learn how to take advantage of them.

    4. Socializers: They want to form connections with other characters by telling stories, discovering information via dialogue, and working together within the game.
  8. Where do you go for trusted game news and reviews, especially for Computer RPGs?

  9. Would you be interested in contributing to development (writing in game books, beta testing, etc.)?

  10. What is a gameplay feature you haven't seen (or or is very rare) in an RPG, that you would like to see in the future?
Oh oh.

I worked at a company where they asked questions like that. It was because nobody had any cohesive vision.

Asking questions won't make the design doc appear.

If I remember right, TTON also made everyone answer a million questions? And look how that turned out.

Then I remember Blizzard caved in to everyone's demands and gradually killed WoW.

Design by committee by asking your entire audience works wonders, sure.

Wouldn't you agree that you can have a consistent vision with a room to improve some aspects as long as they are not in conflict with the main vision?

What for?

I don't believe the audience can self-analyze and come up with exactly what they want. What they say will either be incorrect, will either lead to popamole changes or to meme changes. E.g. everyone can be like "skyrim was too easy, make combat harder!", and then they do, but that's not what was needed to make the combat fun. *Shrugs*. You need a professional for this. Asking everybody never works, but I never had any optimism for this game to start with.

It's like, some writer has a pretty good idea for a story, but suddenly goes on twitter to make a poll and ask "do you like crime & mystery or are you more of a fantasy reader? do you like male or female protagonist?"

They write first. They then sometimes run it by a test audience to gather feedback, and MAYBE decide to correct something. Not before starting to even write it.

Well yeah some stuff could be drastically different from what they want to achieve and any feedback which falls into that category will be filtered out simply.
Some suggestions for systems like the way how should perks work and the sorts of reactivity to consider could be little inspirational if it's not going to shift the game vision.

I can't remember anyone of importance like Avellone saying that they find inspiration by reading rando asshats on reddit. Usually it involves playing other games, reading books, stuff like that?

I think it's this indigo guy just making noise/getting the word out/trying to involve people so the project is more known.

Well, the story gets worse.

First, discord. Now Reddit.

We just opened the doors to our shiny new subreddit! Our first big post is a "Reverse Q&A". Post your answers to 10 questions about what YOU look for in an RPG, and we'll read them live in a video next week!

This is one way to rally the troops to fight for the future of RPGs.

There is not future game without present money. All of this work to gather an audience.

How long before the fans are asked to fund the game?

- procedural storytelling is a realistic thing, the game will tell the story around your actions rather than being a predefined story like in a typical game.
- they want to have best of both worlds, procedural content together with hand crafted content

Yes, more procedural generation is the answer to everything!

Why bother coming up with engaging stories and memorable events when you can just use a bot?

They're making Daggerfall 2.0. It was always going to use procedural generation.

Yep, it's like coming to mcdonalds and complaining that they don't have pizza.

I hope that the game doesn't have all the horrible things DF had then, like quests being useless (giving you a tiny amount of gold and no XP). Also get rid of learn-by-doing and have you instead spend skill points when levelling up.

Nevermind about that, these are some of the dumbest questions in the history of Q&A... Gee Ted, what's your favorite thing that has happened to you in an RPG? :retarded:
