Think voodoo magik is very stronk. Turning enemies upon each other( very gud on IotD), or stunning them with "fear". Not to mention the curse dolls that can turn a hard fight into a complete slaughter. The fact that it also makes temporary skills potions stronger is just a plus, as is the bonus companion you can get.

You also get sum cool content via possession, but that's removed from combat balance.

I have no idea how good the muskets are though.

Thanks Konjad and Aeschylus. These PB games are addictive as fuck, I don't even know how but I already have 9 hours in G2.

As for Risen 2, perhaps after some time PB may release an updated version of sorts, similar to what we've seen with Div2 in TDKS. Judging from the comments here, it seems like a great game buried under a pile of mess. In such cases, there is always hope.
I hope you played Gothic before Gothic 2, though.

As for Risen 2... well, its full of technical issues. There are no crashes or anything like that, there's just stupid shit, Vamp's video explains it pretty much in detail. It's a great game but these moving bushes... especially in the night... moving... bushes...

Yeah, the bushes are p. freaky.

Also, I cannot parry even after buying the skill. The game helpfully says "press the left mouse button", which, of course, attacks, and not parries. So far I haven't figured it out. I have most luck when holding RMB and pressing LMB from time to time.

I always found parrying in PB games to take really good timing, timing you often don't get to learn as enemies kill you so quick. I'm going to do some practice fights with the dudes in the cities and try and figure it out.

Glitches don't worry me too much, except for the pop-in bushes that I really hope they fix. Actually, that video doesn't show any other major glitches, except the blindness thing which I haven't experienced. When he's jumping he's already set his HP to like 1.

Heh. Really? It's compulsory? Sounds retarded. I actually like the shooting game, and the drinking game is laughably easy, but that's not the case for everyone.

I actually think that's the biggest challenge in putting in minigames - the difficulty curve is so different from the difficulty curve of the main game that you're always going to have people that exploit it for easy rewards, or get stuck on them.

I loved the game so far. It was just awesome in every part, except technical issues. I was a defender of the Risen 2. But...
That reminded me about GTA:SA. You know that competition with that gimped car. The trouble was PC controls were off, and required patch. (patch removed nudity)

You have to hold RMB and press LMB right before enemy hits you. Parrying is pretty(read as entirely) useless before you get counterattacks though.

Yeah the arcade games are pretty stupid and should only be optional, not something you have to do to access some things. Also the QTE's are pretty bullshit, like the trap ones, they add nothing to the game and they are just plain annoying. They are not that frequent though.
Anyway this game was quite a surprise really in how good it was. I thought it would be mediocre, but I personally think it ranks above average as an RPG all in all.
And thanks Konjad and made for the explanation on getting a Musket. It was kind of confusing, but a pretty cool C&C anyway.

It's a decline from the old Gothic games, but compared to many RPGs nowadays, I'd say it's :incline: all in all. But they can surely do better. I know they can.

You just took me back to moments of raging hard. That minigame was bullshit, on the PC at least.
That one and the mission where you have to follow the train on the mountainbike. "All we had to do, was follow the damn train CJ!"

DaJi's school for fine ladies.
A random question: Is it required to play Risen before this one? By which I mean, will the game start throwing around people I'm suposed to have met, care about, or be friends with and expect me to have previous knowledge of the factions and setting to make sense of the story or access content, or is it just a "Years after your previous adventure, of which there will be no mention whatsoever..." kind of deal?

minigames becomes more easier if you put difficulty to easy, at least targets in shooting flies a bit slower.

The writing is top notch. Here's a dialogue i had with a native woman:

Native: We must gather up offerings. Kanadiktu!
Me: Can a dick do what? "Shag a numbi"? I suppose...

All those "i don't understand what you savages are trying to say" moments are fucking hilarious.

Played it, Risen 2 like all other gothics is a pretty shitty game with shitty mechanics with shitty character development and shitty combat did i mention it is a total shit ?. Gothic is a partial reason for the decline because it breded all the horrendous witchers/two worlds etc aRpg clones. I remember playing the first gothic back in the day(uninstalled after 10 mins) after playing baldurs/torment/fallout and thought WTF IS THIS SHIT ?!.

Anyone who supports games like gothic/witcher supports decline and should shut the fuck up and go play a real action game which is mdk/tomb raider.

Everyone can thank PB for killing good action games and instead serving us with shitty aRpgs.

The savages stuff is awesome. I don't care too much about the pirate theme (generally it doesn't make anything significantly more or less interesting), but I love how they've used the savages to play up the colonial theme, which now works even better than Risen 1. (It would be even better if the stupid Titan crap was gone and it was all about Inquisitors, Pirates and Savages, though.)

Does anyone know what is happening when you are fighting sword on sword, and there are these brief sword-lock or flashy parry moments? I always come up the short end up the stick, and am not sure what to do there. Perhaps that counts as a parry from the opponent (or me doing it by mistake) and I need to wait and learn counter-attack?

I think if you time your LMB's you can kind of negate some of their counter attack damage, but I'm not sure if it's actually true or if it's just random.
