thanks.
using the transfer option from the menu, and an original roster.dat file, it indeed reset all characters, erased the cartography data and also hirelings, BUT it kept the year at 906.
If you want to reset the year you can copy the roster.dat from the installation media. If you don't care about the year you can use the transfer menu and use default.dat as the filename which has the default roster. However default.dat is not a complete roster if you copy it over roster.dat rather than use the transfer menu you will be stuck in an empty town at year 0.

If you don't want to simply reinstall or track down installation disk you can just edit the roster.dat file. At offset 0x6258 set the required day 01 for day 1 and at offset 0x6278 change the year to 900 by changing to 84.

You know, I had not thought about the laser blasters being used in 7-8 via the mod where it puts 6-8 into one game (I never tried it). Are the guns OP?

7 had blasters as well.

And to answer your question, yes and no. At the point you get blasters REALLY cooking, you probably have a knight with GM armsmaster capable of doing hundred+ damage per swing, or a literal walking nuke that is GM dark magic. Blasters fire fast (really, REALLY fucking fast), but their damage will always be shit in comparison as it never improves.

What I'm saying is they're no more broken then what you probably already have. This is particularly true in the merge mods where your skill levels will get high enough to completely overshadow blasters due to the fact that they continue to get damage bonuses.

Hell, GM archery is better than blasters. You could just do that instead if you wanted to make a machine gun party.

But if you just wanted to mow down a dragon/Titan/whatever from over a click away with a mountain of plink damage for minimal investment at high levels, you could do worse than blasters.

GM archery with an exploding bow...
That's where the real fun is, as long as you can keep the meanies at bay, if they get too close, you're caught in the blast as well.

The thing about blasters is all 4 members of the party can use it so you're always getting 4x value out of them as opposed to your knight doing nothing while spamming nukes or your casters doing nothing while in melee. It's theoretically possible to outdamage blasters shooting 40x for every one time your knight swings but either way the game is gonna be pretty easy at that point.

You can cast in melee (Hello shrapmetal) and it's not even remotely hard to get into melee if that's your thing. As for speed, with merge and gray's patch the haste bug was fixed and just about anyone can get uber fast if you want to do that.

Blasters really exist to fix your mistakes whether that's a bad party comp or putting points into stupid skills.

At 19:00 he says MM6 is "cringe" because it has "racist caricatures and sexualized enemies".

Guy mixes up cringe with based.

it always feels dumb when people have a problem with that cuz it's just really forced "erm this give is a bit problematic" bullshit to appease to a specific dumb crowd. the only thing i could guess people feeling a bit uncomfortable with in m&m6 are the corpses of women (which is still nothing compared to modern gore).

Yeah, that is the original MM8 cover with chainmail bikini intact.

Personally I don't see what is wrong with chainmail bikinis. Or females showing cleavage in general.

Has anyone told that YT retard that Dark Elves in MM8 cannot wear plate armor?

They leave obvious vital areas completely unprotected.
Ah yes, the "muh realism" argument.

I'm playing a series of games that involve blaster rifle wielding wizards, do you think I give 2 fucking shits about realism?

edit - oh dear God, I just noticed that edit in the thumbnail. If you're going to butcher something like that at least make it look less obvious.

I don't know about you, but I do. Not that you should promote immodesty either way, but if you must, don't try to sell it off as a fighter. There are plenty of bawdy clothing you can make while still holding a shred of verisimilitude as a rogue or as a mage.

I have no idea what you are talking about, as far as I can tell I didn't quote any images.

That wasn't actually directed at you. That was directed at that hack youtube video.

You're still wrong about the other thing though.

Those last few posts made me delve around for decent MM8 box cover art and I found this superb pre-release art!
Looks way better than the final released box.
Larry Elmore is such a prolific artist. Google image his name and you'll find TONS of videogame and books.

That dark elf's different skin tone makes her look even more like a classic D&D drow.

If anyone is interested, I found an old LUA script which allows you to export/import a character in Might & Magic Merge. The thing wasn't working on the latest version, so I fixed it. The idea here is that you can play a multiplayer game and then export that character to play in your own world, and then back again.

The only thing I couldn't get working properly is the totals in the Award log (total Bounties, Jail time, etc). It will show 0.

Download here (Instructions included)

This works with the version of MMM I linked to here:
https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads...discussion-thread.42757/page-315#post-9300495

Original (now broken) script is found here:
