Wizardry 8 is the only good blobber?

It's one of the few blobbers DraQ has played, so he's hardly an authority on the subject.
Neither am I, for that matter, Wiz 8 being one of the few I haven't played. But Wiz 8 is kind of a pseudo-blobber anyway, like MM6-8, with its free form movement.

Blobbers are the most niche of all rpg , turn based an even smaller niche inside , the least popular of them even at their peak. So from time to time someone make an alt account to rile up things here for us old vet. Of course the effort is appreciated, some good' old classic trolling is still working .
But face it there's not even enough people alive ,able to make beleivable lies about playing this, for a circle jerk anymore...They are old ,archaic subpar on everything, no depth in combat, no interactivity, no replayability. Course no one going to play that shit anymore. Everyone will play a superior action rpg like cyberpunk or if they really like turn based combat, solasta or BG3.
Another thread idea is to pretend elex is good too.

Why would a blobber-fan not play Wiz8? press x to doubt

Octavius is playing games and reading scifi from the past forward, he hasn't reached the year of Wiz8 yet, I'm sure he'll like it

Darth Roxor Do you have a review of M&MX I can read?

nope, but Sceptic does. IIRC Roxor gives his well-known opinion of X ("it's shit") in that thread

https://rpgcodex.net/content.php?id=9390
It's not an opinion, its an advertisement review , everyone in the staff+ sceptic was sucking ubisoft dick by them thanks to free keys and probably more . I even remember reading a crooked bee comment " every game has its hater" as if the consensus on the game was best in the decade. It's an honest attempt to revive the genre, still as shallow as the ancient ones, technically and graphically good, but railroaded as fuck with a very lazy level design. You wont see anyone discussing builds ever, cause there's simply nothing to discuss. You can see if a game his a great rpg just by seeing how many people are discussing in depth tactical stuff.

Advertisement review according to Mortmal:

“In summary, MMXL does not quite live up to the expectations that I had when reading everything that was released by Limbic about the game, as well as the Codex previews. Perhaps no game could have lived up to the expectations one builds after 12 years of waiting for the next entry in a beloved series, an entry that no one ever expected would see the light of day. The game departs from the M&M formula where it matters the most, the overworld exploration. Additionally, it has quite a few flaws in its combat system.”

MMX is what happens when the blobber genre continues to pretend wizardry 8 never happened because it would require them to actually put effort into their games instead of releasing the same game over and over

Such lack of integrity man, people are likely not reading all that shit and jumping to the conclusion:

"The final verdict should be obvious by now: MMXL is a must-buy and a must-play. Limbic did a superlative job in bringing together many beloved elements from the series, improving where they could and not dumbing down where it matters. The flaws are immaterial in the grand scheme of things;"

X suffers more from the MM name than anything, if it was just some indie homage to MM it would fine, but it's a fan game that does nothing to advance the genre or the franchise. Also removing all the stupid spaceship and alien stuff sucks the soul out of MM.

No, but my tl;dr on its major flaws is:

- It completely screws up the thing that's always been the biggest focus and strength of the M&M series, which is exploration.
- It tries to improve the combat, but the system is so poorly thought out that the end result is garbage. It might be more complex but in the end is only more involved instead of better, which makes it garbage. The entire system is cracking at the seams due to stupid design choices held together by haphazard bandaid solutions. There is also no party formation, not even the most basic "dude #1 is more likely to get attacked than #4", despite the much greater focus on combat.
- The character system is shit because it's built squarely around the bandaid solutions.

There are more things for sure, I vaguely recall combat encounters being lazy as fuck as well, but it's been so long I can't remember the specifics anymore. I'm sure there are some angry walls of text of mine still to find in the dedicated MM10 thread somewhere though, because this game pissed me off muchly at the time.

Xeen is quite dated, in my opinion. Today I would probably enjoy a replay of M&M X the most.

Might and Magic 3, 4 and 5 are the LEAST dated DOS RPGs of them all.
Less dated than the contemporary Wizardries (6 and 7) and Ultimas (7 and Underworld). Very usable and intuitive interface with FULL mouse control AND keyboard shortcuts. Colorful graphics that still look nice. Absolutely not dated at all.

Again, it's a matter of taste probably. I tried playing Xeen recently and did not like it. Replayed Wizardry 7 to the end a couple years ago and enjoyed it a lot.

Hey Infinitron you like to give autistic button when i tell things you dont like about that MMX special event, something that anyway wont happen ever again since the codex is blacklisted, forever . You never answered me nor anyone else here ? Why the fuck do you keep doing newsposter at the codex while having no interest about those and never playing any ? AD revenue? only meaning in life ? or a very specific form of autism too ?
