Guardian seems to be quite heal/defense-oriented with support skills, didn't see much in the ways of damage-dealing there at least, but lots of shields, heals and buffs.
I think if you play with Scepter/Sword/Hammer you can do some damage.

But honestly you guys should play with the skills tool http://gw2.luna-atra.fr/skills_tool/ though it is slightly out of date

Yeah, I meant the skills you buy with skillpoints, the Utility side. Also, spirit weapons seemed to be rather lame but then again for their price I kinda guess they ought to be. Though maybe the Bow is decent, didn't check.

Ah my bad that makes sense, I'm kinda drunk. OTOH I think for most classes, the Utility Slots are pretty support oriented. Besides Warrior/Thief, I guess.

That makes sense, cheers. Didn't look at support skills so much, will check the calculator out again though.

The warrior has plenty of support utilities too, in the form of banners and shouts.

Played a thief to lv 13 plus several hours of instanced PvP, but will not be writing an spontaneous wall of text. Ask some questions and ye might receive some answers.

I just played a little with a thief but the general consensus seems to be that steal is shit compared to what the other classes have.

How so?

It seemed to me just like a gap closer that turns into a random ability that might or might not be useful on an extremely long cooldown.

As a gap closer it seems to be important enough, but it also allows you to backstab enemies for extra damage as it teleports your character to the other player's back, a necessary condition for backstabs. It should also be useful to escape certain abilities when dodge isn't available or the best option. All in all, considering how it doesn't occupy a skill slot, it seemed quite invaluable in the pvp.

The point is not that the skill is completely useless, it's just that it's inferior to other special abilities.

Played Thief til LVL13 in PvE, might write a wall of text, but I have to admit I didn't use Steal a whole lot til about the end part of playing, so can't really comment much at this point, on that aspect anyway.

Hmm yeah the Thief does have some utility in arena PVP. But what about WvW? I really didn't see any skills in the builder that would have more group utility.

Rather like how much mobility the Mesmer can add to a WvW squad, though.

I hear ya, but I can't see how, for example, the engineer's very short term group buff is that much better. They're just working along different aspects. For example, the elementalist doesn't even have one and is restricted to switching between elements (correct me if I'm wrong).

The engineer doesn't get only buffs. The engineer special mechanic is an extra ability for each of his heal and utility skills, so he basically gets 4 extra skills.

And the ele special mechanic is 20 weapon skills for each weapon combination. That's easily the best one, imo.

ele gets 20 skills but only 5 different sets of those, and p. much every of those sets but one (staff) is mostly useless.
everyone but engi gets to pick two sets from a wider selection (19 war, 12 gua, 11 ran, 10 mes/nec, 7 thi ) and gets to keep their class ability. seemed pretty balanced to me ('cept for staff feeling kinda op.. set meteor shower in front of you, switch to air to quickly kill everything with chain lightning basic attack, tank bosses/elites with water, use burning retreat for damage+escape).

The builder is outdated as fuck and is missing a whole bunch of Trap skills for one.

Didn't try it myself but I recall plenty of people asking for help on the /local chat for the story missions, might be feasible.

Also, this is worth checking out:

I knew there was attention to detail, I've been aproached by a few NPC's in the beta asking for my help in a upcoming event. But I really didn't expect that much detail, props to Arenanet.

We don't get to see the end of the event either. Maybe a bear takes the head. Or the father takes it off as he's angry with the kids.

The dye system is totally ruining all those great looking armors. They become so flat and bright, like super hero costumes.
Hordes of rainbow colored players...
