Oh God.
I nearly forgot about GTA 6...
Apparently it's going to take place in Vice City, but in the modern day as opposed to the 80s.
My money is on it being a buggy mess and very similar to GTA 5 in the gameplay department.
You should replay Vice City, by the way.
Best game in the series and one of the few worth playing, also GTA 3 and even the original titles.

The GTA6 leaks from a while back already make it look vastly more ambitious than GTA5 ever was.

I also wonder if they’re going to do VR for the game. That leaked footage from a while back had one video that was just showing off a car’s interior, and the announcement of control you seemed to have over the interior was vastly greater than you’d need for a regular third or fight person game. The whole interior of the cars seem to be functional now. Chairs adjust like a normal car chair would, the steering wheel can be adjusted, you can move the mirrors, the widow visor works. It seems like they’re giving you a level of control over the inside of a car that only makes sense if you’re playing in VR with VR controls.

It’ll be interesting to see how that game turns out. The feeling I’ve gotten with GTA over the years is that it constantly railroading the player into following very specific points when going about a mission was because of Dan Houser...who was one of the bosses and wrote all the games. You’re going to follow the story exactly how Dan Houser wants you to follow the story he wrote. But Dan Houser left Rockstar in 2020. Red Dead Redemption 2 felt like two very different polar opposite games in one. One of them was this extremely open game where you could just kind of fuck around and do whatever you wanted with the mechanics they gave you, and the other was the most railroaded game Rockstar has ever made where even the most slight of deviations from the very specific invisible path they wanted you to follow could randomly end a mission and have you starting over. Those two games RDR2 was were constantly at war with each other, with Houser gone it could mean a positive change for the studio in the more free form direction that was in RDR2. Then again, it could just stay the same or get even worse...although the boss being the writer seems like it’s why they made you follow the story stuff so stringently.

Modders deserve recognition at The Game Awards, too
Where is all the fan work at The Game Awards?

https://www.polygon.com/game-awards-tga/483684/the-game-awards-tga-modder-nominations
To me, mods represent some of the best work happening in video games. I don’t just say this because these additions have allowed me to introduce anime boys to Stardew Valley
The idea that Nintendo intimidated Keighley out of celebrating fan creations isn’t entirely out of the question. The renowned Japanese developer and publisher has cultivated a reputation of being extremely litigious when it comes to fan-made projects and mods of its games.
Today, we have to make do with the nebulous category of “Best Community Support,” which appears to focus on the community managers of teams rather than the fan communities themselves.

Would be cool if it had a lot more 'life sim' aspects than its predecessors.

It looks like they’re going as “sim” as at least San Andreas. A lot of the leaked footage was showing off different animations for how your character does different things (like shooting a gun) depending on where your stats are.

The leaks also make it look like the game might be built around doing heist that at least look functionally similar to how robberies work in Payday. They at least seem to be something more that you can just initiate at certain locations, as opposed to the heist in GTA5 which are one off set piece missions. Like the leaked restaurant robbery where you’re running crowd control seems more like something you can just do in restaurants as opposed to a very specific mission.

It should also be more violent than GTA has been since entering the 360 era if what they were doing in RDR2 is any indication.

I played a bit of Balatro out of sheer curiosity and its fine I guess, shouldnt be nowhere near a goty nomination tho. Then again I am hard pressed to even name 10 games released this year so what do I know...
