i was just joking there, of course. whatever is the truth.
must enhance my codex misogynist (gay) cred.

Don't worry dude, my eyes caught the gist and I looked away. I don't dig too much on spoilers, and I'm pretty good at dancing around them when I need to. My current plan is to find someone with better saves and dexterity and throw the strength gauntlets that I found in the sphere on them. Maybe that halfling broad, but she's all super-specialized in shortbows and I'm not sure down with that. I can't hang in this thread tonight. Too many replies to see, Too much work tomorrow. Must sleep.
i never took her so i cannot comment on that.
i just dislike paladins and i think she is one...

meh, sleep ... the opium for the classes!

Halflings couldn't be paladins in 2e. Mazzy's just a lawful good fighter.

Her über-specialisation in Shortbows isn't bad at all, as far as I remember. Bows are not the ultimate weapon they were in BG1, but they can still be pretty useful. The Tuigan Bow, found early in the game, turns Mazzy into a machine gun.

On the other hand, specialisation in Short Swords is a terrible choice.

All in all, I'd say Mazzy can be a decent choice as long as you have other characters who can take care of close combat.

She's not a paladin but she has spell-like abilities made to mimic a paladin's, has paladin-like exclusive gear for her, and is an overall zealot and "defender of the true path". She's not a paladin in the absolute sense, but mechanically is damn near that.

Having said that, she does have high DEX so if dudebro is wanting a DEX char then... well, maybe. Then again, Viconia has 19 DEX and there are plenty of 17 and 18 Dex chars, not the least of which is Imoen.

Yeah, decent she definitely is. Though there was something about her that irked me a lot. And i think her side-quests are not so extensive or interesting as those of other possible companions.
s`been a long time since i played it last.

ah, yes, as Mikayel says, there was that Paladinish annoying angle to her.
God how i hate lawful characters... ugh!

At least 3/4th of BG2 companions have Dexterity scores high enough to give AC bonuses. Keldorn is the one exception that comes to my mind right now.

Paladin characters (I do agree that Mazzy is one, even she isn't technically a paladin) tend to lack depth, complexity and realism. But lawful characters in general can just as cool and interesting as chaotic or neutral ones.

Not sure Vicky would be very good for tanking, unless you're only facing spellcasters. Her HP are mediocre and her Strength is too low for her to wear most heavy armors.

On the other hand, her ability to control undeads makes some parts of the game much easier.

No way Baatezu! Chaos for teh win!

Well, my favorite companion in any CRPG happens to be a lawful neutral Tanar'ri.

That mace that sets your STR to 18 is a nice item for Viconia, one of the belt's of giant strength, or even gauntlets of ogre strength.. I used to take her because she was an easy cleric and was pure class instead of multi/dual -- tho in later games I would just make my own characters using the multiplayer-to-singlerplayer trick and skip them altogether except for their quests (shortly after which they would meat an unfortunate death).

Vici is very easy to buff up and can be totally insanely overpowered.
It just depends what you do with her.

And we did so many...different...things...oh my...

Yeah I always favoured Viccy for a pure cleric, not least because she's a much more interesting character than that tard Anomen.

Of all the characters in BG2 Anomen has the most interesting quest/storyline, IMO. Goading him over to the Dark Side, and him go all Anakin Skywalker in the house of Saul (?) the merchant who supposedly (it is never proven) killed his sister, was the best "evil" path in the whole game.
And he's easier to keep alive than Viconia. Viconia is too much dependent on buffing and resting for my taste.

Anomen is good only for one thing. To be lead away from the city and then pushed off a cliff.

If i remember correctly there were threads and lists about best ways to kill Anomen.

Meh, I find the Lolth betrayal/fugitive story of Viconia to be more interesting, and you can also challenge and temper her evilness to some degree over time too, should that float your boat. Besides, his voice is just...

:dead:

Grey DeLisle is much easier on the ear, quite frankly.

How cute that a computer game NPC can evoke such emotions. I guess that's why romances are so popular...

She may have an interesting back story, but unlike Anomen's story I found it had very little relevance in the game. Even in the Drow city it didn't make much difference having Viccy in the party.

Why do people even discuss which BG NPC is a bigger fag and why when you can just agree that they are all mostly horrible and create your own team?

I never even took Anomen into my party cause he looks and sounds like a fag.
exactly.

You mean how much gear you deny characters with far more tanking and DPS potential to give to Viccy so that she can be half as good as them in combat?

There's more than enough decent armour and gauntlets/belts of strength to go around.
