Skyrim won more than 200 GotY awards. Fallout 4 was their most ambitious game ever, and the next generation of open-world gaming. Starfield is... new!
Wasn't Starfield marketed as a gamepass title first and foremost? Could it be that the majority of Starfield playerbase is on gamepass and not steam?

How bad is the modding situation for gayfield as of now? Can something be salvaged or this game is even more hopeless that F4?

This thread rocks because Vic is now in the persona of a Royal Navy captain from the 1800s dealing with a ship-wide mutiny. The mutineers jeer and laugh and grow in number while he stands proud and undeterred on deck, confidently stating his loyalty to Queen and country (Todd and Bethesda) and waiting for his true men to come and retake the ship.

I am one of those true men. I thought Starfield was a decent 6/10 game, which statistically means I'm one of the people on Earth who enjoyed it the most. We will retake our ship, Vic, just as soon as Shittered Space comes out and redefines the very medium of gaming. Not long now. Bide and anticipate.

There's an aquarium mod.

On discount again due to Quakecon. It keeps to be at -33% . When the hell are they going to drop it at least 50%? How many more bad reviews/bad fame it needs to drop the freaking price mate?
I'm also waiting for a 50% or more discount. I guess the reason they don't do it (yet) is probably because it would be a admission of defeat and would also tarnish Bethesda's "reputation" as a developer.
My bet is that they want to min-max profits from the base game with the release of the shattered space DLC. I dont expect the base game to get a 50% discount until next year (or maybe until next DLC release... thats is IF they even have plans for a second DLC)

They'll probably go with at least 3 DLCs. Shattered Space being the equivalent of Far Harbor. Considering that Nuka World and the Workshop DLCs added gameplay changes to the base game of FO4, I'm hoping Starfield's DLCs will do the same. I'm hoping to see a "sea world" DLC because as of right now there is no under water action in the game.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
So I finished it, about 45 hours.

Initially I was doing side quests and faction missions but then I just sprinted through the main story.

I mean... it wasn't great, game is full of stupid shit that got on my nerves, from the constant loading screens to the oversized half-empty locations (shit reminded me of Warframe, only without the awesome zipping-zooming movement options) to the procedural generation and the stupid Bethesda loot (garbage everywhere, Master locked chests don't necessarily give better loot than Novice etc., standard Bethesda idiocy)... but I did finish it.

There were things I did like floating in this poodle of mediocrity. Some quests were really good, the writing was very meh but at least it wasn't offensively, aggressively bad like most of Western games nowadays (Outer Worlds anyone? Urrggh). And holy shit the women were actually pretty. Andreja was probably the hottest chick I've seen in a Western game in the last 10 years. Crazy.

Weirdly, the most developed features of the game - ship building and outpost building - are completely optional, I didn't touch them and managed well enough (playing on Hard).

Spaceship customization is arguably the best least bad part of Starfield; can be genuinely engaging. :M

IIRC you need to upgrade your ship only once to increase its flight distance to reach the final quest. Other than that, yeah not only optional but also going absolutely nowhere. Thankfully mods are already fixing that.

No mods, no porn, no porn mods. The death knell for Bethesda games.
You have to give it time. Starfield requires a new version of SexLab which needs to be written from scratch according to what I've read. The CK was released only 2 months ago.

You can be sure there will be plenty of sex mods seeing how this is the best looking Bethesda game yet, by far.
Interesting that you know all this...

I just looked it up prior to making this post, actually. I'm not interested in adult mods for Starfield. There are much better games for this like this one, which is like a sandbox to download or create sex scenes and has incredible animation and detail.

Oh I guess it's not on Steam yet, I played their Patreon version.

I think it reveals that all the talk about wanting risky games that attempt innovation is just that, talk. If gamers are unwilling to cope with the consequences of risks they should quit whining about risk-averse companies releasing iterative products.
