This mod (even though it's not likely to come out) would be exciting if only Starfield had featured space-to-surface flight. I want to fly over Seyda Neen in my personal doom-ship, The Dread Shadow, and watch Fargoth quake in terror before my twin las-cannons open up on him and remove all trace of his existence from reality.

Yet another TES total conversion project that will be sitting in oven for the next decade to come, hogging modding resources. Why can't they focus on Tamriel Rebuilt and Beyond Skyrim, the only somewhat longterm successful of these projects that aren't remakes, with maybe later in some way trying to port finished versions of those to other games. This may sound naive but i still think its more realistic than trying to recreate Tamriel, whole fucking continent, from the ground up for the nth amount of time. Years are spent on planning the same cities in many different projects at the same time, most of those get abandoned and some will eventually get gobbled up by other projects and when any version with somewhat playable amount of content gets released, next Bethesda game release starts being visible on horizon and the cycle will repeat.

Modders gonna mod, that's their thing, let them be that way. No one was gonna play those batshit conversion mods anyway.

At least it keeps all those racist incels beavering away in their basements year after year and not out on the streets starting civil wars...

this was a meme post on reddit written by chat gpt (literally), but of course that went over the head of the "journalist"

skyblivion is a less ambitious project than that and after 15 years it's still not out, if this was legit it would never happen anyway

guys, if you want to follow gaming news pick your sources and don't believe everything you read on the internet

I was walking past the Neon Galbank when I picked up a wanted bounty on my scanner. Saw he was a murderer and suspected of making explosives, so before he could make a move, I unloaded my full-auto Ambassador in his chest. Did he die, you ask? Is cotton white? Every security officer on the planet drew on me and Sarah sprinted back to my ship while yelling she wanted a divorce. I feel like Michael Douglas in Falling Down. I'm the bad guy? I did everything right...

Has anyone really gotten into the outposts/player housing/shipbuilding? It feels like Beth expected people to build first and do the shitty quests as an afterthought. There are so many crafting systems and research projects that you could easily never notice because you were just doing terminal fetch quests for $3000

I also suspect that House Varuun was only one of multiple religions in the lore but some reddit soyboy had them cut spiritual references because they would offend the Chinese Communist Party. How could Akila's space Confederates not have a religious sect? Or Neon worshipping Slaanesh?
Yes Bethesda games are now shitty Minecraft. Todd noticed how much money that made.

They're actually excellent Minecraft. Starfield simulating the periodic table is insane. When I started building my first settlement and saw that lighting fixtures cost noble gases, I realized SF is literally the most autistic game ever made. It's like The Campaign For North Africa in space. It's not bad, it's just got a target audience of like three people

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
The project is already dead. Dude hoped he could attract a team of people to work on this project with him, but no volunteers came forth, so he canceled it.

Also, calling this "Project Tamriel" is fucking insulting, because there already is a Project Tamriel: a huge, high-quality mod project for Morrowind with the aim of recreating all of Tamriel in the Morrowind engine, with every province being true to the old lore. They already have a small part of Skyrim released and this year will release the first part of Cyrodiil. It's gonna take many more years (at least a decade, and that's optimistic) before even those two provinces are fully finished, and then there's still High Rock, Hammerfell, Valenwood, Elsweyr, Black Marsh, and Summerset Isle.

Project Tamriel is a sister project to Tamriel Rebuilt, a mod working on recreating the mainland of Morrowind (as the vanilla game only portrays Vvardenfell, the province's central island). TR has been in development for twenty years now. The early years were plagued by inefficiency and modder drama, but by the late 00s they got their shit together and put out their first release. In the last couple years they've improved their organizational skills and workflow, and now they're actually making steady progress with new high quality updates almost every year. They're even overhauling the areas of their early releases, whose quality is noticeably more amateurish compared to their recent stuff.

At the current pace, they might even be able to finish the entire Morrowind mainland, including a comprehensive overhaul of their old material, by 2030. The Cyrodiil team has been at it for about a decade now, and are finally ready to release the western coast of the province as their first release. The Skyrim team is making steady progress, and they've started working on High Rock now, too - for now just the eastern border with Skyrim, but they'll eventually expand the province westward.

It's a long, slow, work-intensive process, especially since the TR/PT teams are incredibly elitist and perfectionist. Their content quality is at least on par with vanilla Morrowind, and in many cases far superior.
But even for a less autistically lore-accurate mod, the amount of work required is staggering simply due to the scale of Tamriel. A mod project that wants to recreate the entire continent - or, worse, the entire planet - would take several decades of work to be done.

Considering Starfield's lack of popularity, it's not at all surprising that nobody with talent is willing to join a project like this. Their time and effort would be better used joining Tamriel Rebuilt, or even Beyond Skyrim, both of which are projects already far into development and with a proven track record of actually being able to release things. This guy's Starfield mod has nothing to show other than over-ambitious plans only a madman would commit to.

This was my first thought. How interesting would that be if you can't fly over the landscape? They're better off getting a team together, hop in No Man's Sky, and get to work.

how do you know this? his original post was in ChatGPT format and his contact line literally reads:

Follow our development progress, participate in community discussions, and gain exclusive insights into Project Tamriel by joining our [Discord server/website link]. Your feedback and support are invaluable to us as we embark on this epic journey.
There's no link anybody can use to contact him, it's just a bait/meme post and some people were dumb enough to fall for this.

everyone talks shit about starfield allegedly not having a design document, but the game being a ship of theseus clusterfuck of random systems means that modders can just add in whatever Beth couldn't finish in time. in retrospect everyone will laugh at CP2077 compared to what SF will eventually become

bethesda literally created an entire economy where people can turn old sci-fi stories into playable mods and sell them at a profit. I can't wait to see smoothbrains complain about Star Wars or Traveller mods for Starfield being trademark infringement while just offscreen Chinese AI is plagiarizing James Joyce and generating bestiality porn of Taylor Swift. "Copyright law" my ass. You're either supposed to enforce it all the time or never, that's what "laws" are

I browsed the nexus a bit and saw multiple mods that I could combine and tweak a bit to make the game come closer to my ideal. I'm still waiting for the big dick mods to come rolling in. The engine is great, it feels, plays and looks good. Just needs much, much deeper mechanics, like ind33d said Bethesda just created a kind of tech demo and its up to the modders to GO DEEP ON THAT BITCH. ahem.

modding scene so far looks very healthy, of course it's the star wars reskin mods that are most popular right now, but even they are coming along nicely

Most important mod I've seen so far is someone working on a plugin that removes manual saving and only lets you save when sleeping in a bed. Exploring a level 70 planet on Iron Man and running back to your ship to save before you die of hypothermia sounds like exactly what the game was intended to be

Couldn't care less about ship building and survival honestly, it's cool that they're there but I really want TES-style dungeons and quests/settlements. Which I think are going to be the type of mod we see the least of.

You'd think being the first Bethesda game released in the generative AI era would give it a boost in that regard.

this may be more up your alley, by the creators of Daggerfall, using AI to have a "virtual game master" ingame
