I didn't know there was a form of color blindness where you see green instead of brown, but apparently you have it.
How about you show us where you see green in the photo.

Oh look, I can use filters too.

The difference is that you don't need to posterize the image to see all of the brown in it, unlike those few patches of green.

Maybe if you simply increased the saturation I wouldn't think you're an idiot.

Apparently I have it too then, because like Draq I see green all over that picture of yours, including the building.

Hey Bros, what Stalker "work" do you like better ? The Book, the Movie or the Videogame ?

I like them all but I like the original book the best. I think it has the better atmosphere overall, the better (and more dangerous) Zone, and mainly, the better background/story for the whole Zone creation in first place. I really like the "roadside picnic" idea. In second place for me comes the videogames. Even with the lame plot (SoC ending, Im looking at you) it manages to make the Zone an awesome and alive place. The movie comes last for me. Too existencial and contemplative (aka boring) to my tastes, despite also having a weird and unsettling atmosphere.

How about you, Bros ?

Which of the stalker mods is the "best one" for CoP?
Misery 1, in my opinion. Its the 2 bottom downloads from here. (there is also Misery 2, but its too bloated and unbalanced at this point, perhaps after a couple more patches it gets better)

Film - best atmosphere that any STALKER games (even with mods) could compare. Now I watched Solaris (from '70) and also got great atmosphere.
Book was good, mostly because I prefered it over school books (everyone know that school books killing potential readers, only stats that doesn't lie). Also because Strugatski brothers' books are cool.

I really love the movie, especially the first part. The location chosen is perfect and the work on the image is damn impressive, even today. It's not a perfect film by any means but it is very powerful and the Stalker is particularly moving, I think.

The movie was shit.
And it doesn't come as a surprise if you actually read about its making.

I dont think the movie is shit, just boring. Also, I like how ambiguous it is - are the Zone anomalies for real or mere superstition on the stalker part ? Do the girl shows special powers in the end scene or is it just the glasses moving from the train quake nearby ? Do the stalker at the beginning also has special powers (because he totally looks like he just pulled the glass at the beginning just like the girl) ? WTF is the Zone origins in the movie, alien, atomic or what ? What the Zone means to the stalker and why the hell its all color while outside is light brown ? Because its heaven for him while his everyday life is a piece of light brown shit ?

By the way, Im replaying CoP (with Misery) again, and Im at the part where you must decide to help Beard or Own/Sultan about the special svarog detectors, and I want to help the bad guys to ge the BOSS achievement. But I need some self-justification for betraying Beard so I dont feel bad about it because he is a nice guy (yeah Im a LARPER I know). What do you guys think of this:

1 - Im a Ukranian govmt covert operative
2 - Beard is a nice fella but his business of artifact smuggling is attracting all kinds of international interest to the Zone
3 - International interested to the Zone = BAD for the Ukranian govnmt
4 - I covertly sabotage Beard business so the artifact smuggling stops and international interest slows

So ?

(also, I just watched Captain Phillips and totally cheered for the bad guys.. I mean, those niggas look like fucking SHADOWRUNNERS man, how could I not cheer for them ? And this made me in the mood to act shadily in the Zone)

Fuck, I got a bug where I cant complete the Strelok stashes quest in CoP, after I asked that dumbshit Nitro to crack the UAV box for me. All stashes are empty and I cant find the dumbass who supposedly looted the contents.

Also, Vano didnt make the Pripyat underground alive. Will I have problems because of it ?

You're with the military. The military shoots stalkers and bandits on sight in SOC and CS.
Isn't it stupidly unprofessional to make it personal?

Besides it's not like military doesn't shoot bandits as well.

Also, Vano didnt make the Pripyat underground alive. Will I have problems because of it ?
Depends on what you mean by problems.

If Vano was alive would he gimme access to some special artifact or place which I coudnt get otherwise ?

Also, do the compass artifact actually have some special effect beyond the normal stats ?

Seems like there's a fairly major development on the horizon for STALKERSOUP soon:

http://www.tecnobacon.com/newmap.html

492_SS_Zones.jpg

ALSO: New map is almost decided upon, if you are interested you can view it on my website. As soon as it gets locked down I will make a high res version and post it in the repository. This is a reference map and not the actual ui_global_map as it has a different aspect ratio.

I will also post a table of all the levels that will indicate:
Zone intensity factor (distance from Sarc)
Fixed lc paths (connecting adjacent levels)
Percent of level completion (geometry, hom, fixed spawns)
Percent of AI completion (story rlelated characters and creatures)
Known issues (things players can avoid)

STALKERSOUP is a pretty fun mod in it's current state but it is in need of some quality control (particularly of the weapon additions and Russian text translations). Still, hard to not be a little excited by the prospect of a Zone with that many levels to trek across.

Same guys that made Narodnaya Solyanka? I remember my fight with game language (doesn't work, crash) and it was longer than actual gameplay.
Finished (in)famous Cave, wandered on another map and left.

Number of maps looks preety interesing, hope that I've finish SGM 2.2 before it will be released.

Not quite the same guys, it's a bunch of other modders who took it upon themselves to improve Narodnaya Solyanka's stability, fix bugs in it and integrate a popular addon (DMX, which is a bit of a mixed bag to be honest.)

The translation is better than the googlefu'd horror translation of the original NS but still falls flat in some places. The cave is still a bit of a pain in the arse, but you can get through it pretty quickly once you figure out the correct paths to take to beat the one way walls. As aluded to previously some of the integrated items aren't properly balanced or consistent with others in the game, with the weapons in particular being at fault. They suffer from problems like different graphical effects from different mods, silly mistakes with weapon data (e.g. the G3 fires 5.56mm rounds not 7.62mm) some weapons have mirrored round ejection some do not etc. DMX-derived weapons tend to be the worst offenders - that mod adds the Cleric Beretta from Equilibrium FFS.

Despite all this it is the most stable and well translated version of Narodnaya Solyanka available as far as I am aware. I wish it had a way to disable all the DMX content.

[Edit: don't know if these links have been posted here before but fuck it]

There are some useful Steam threads and guides out there for those interested in SHOC mods:
Plus here's a link to a Facepunch Studios (yuck) repository of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series mods hosted on MEGA that covers most of the big mods available for each title:
