CS is pretty meh,

Was pretty shit actually, just finished it. Was going to uninstall but decided to try The Faction Wars mod. It's quite excellent I think. Should have been what the game was in the first place.

Graphicswhoredex time! :P

So - after being really, really impressed with SoC I loaded up CoP to see how much things have improved during the 2-3 years since SoC. Apparently the engine has been vastly improved with support for loads of glorious DX10 features, etc - not to mention the gameplay improvements, which seem to be numerous and which I'm not bitching about in this post.

However, visually, it's gone from this:

What the fuck happened? Good thing I'm seemingly not the only graphics harlot around and there are mods - I got Absolute Nature and while it looks much better, the game now runs like ass on my pretty decent rig (specs in profile). Sorry for the overly negative tone of this post, I'm going to get around to twiddling with the settings one of these days - just wanted to vent my frustration in the meanwhile. :P

For some reason vanilla CoP has really bad low LOD ground textures, which makes anything in the distance look like ass. Just mod that shit out. No idea why absolute nature would make it run like shit, but CoP's performance is kinda wonky in general in my experience, sometimes going to a lower DX version or turning down a setting that doesn't seem to change anything visually suddenly doubles the framerate.

Autumn Aurora 2, which is basically Misery for Shadow of Chernobyl, will be released before the end of the year. It will feature a brand new Absolute Nature and, more importantly, an official AtmosFear for Shadow of Chernobyl. :bounce:

So much brown.

I never understood the obsession with brown in post-apocalypse porns. I mean, real Chernobyl doesn't look like that, north Euro-Asian area doesn't look like that, even in autumn. The great thing about SOC is that it is GREEN, lively and yet alien at the same time. If I want BROWN, I'd play the latest Call of Duty.

Well I like how washed-out and lifeless it looks, and I know how green the Exclusion Zone really is. Stiil, I figure with some rain and all it'll be cool as fuck.

the mod is called AUTUMN Aurora. i don't know about where you live, but around here (central/easter europe), in autumn it's mostly brown all around

So I decided to install SGM 2.2 for CoP (thanks for info about it skacky) and my first though was HOWLY SHIET WHERE IS MISERY 2.0?
Because those dicks don't suck itself
Sounds like butthurt because it is. After long waiting for somewhat hyped Missie2 and receiving bunch of turd right in the face it could be. Enough to kick out the game from HDD. SGM 2.2 and I'm chillin'....

And he has to make a mod set in AUTUMN because?

He didn't have enough brown in Call of Duty?

I lived in a similar climate as Ukarine. Yes there are a few days in a whole year that look like this: but most of the time it's much more lively than this Fallout 3 sequel.

i live in a slightly warmer climate (central croatia), and it's not far from that right now. he doesn't have to do any mod, but he wants to do a mod set in autumn, so it's only appropriate it looked like fucking autumn. he's the creator, he's the leader, it's his mod, and his vision, you're just a random dumbfuck

War. War never changes.

CoP can run like shit if a mod can't find a resource it expects. It doesn't crash like flimsy western bourgeois technology, so even if there are problems with some mod installation (for example due to different language version) the only symptom may be game slowing down to a crawl as it periodically tries to load missing resources.

I had this experience when trying Misery.

Bros, Im thinking about reinstalling SoC to try out this mod here. The shit has some photorealistic textures and all.

Anyone know it ? Is it good ?

I'm playing it at the moment and it's pretty good. It has a lot of cut enemies like the Izlom and all.

FFS, I made some cleaning on my HDD (putting into archives, defragmentation, ton of junk from old disc from decade etc.) and my saves for SGM 2.2 are gone. After numerous modding (on the whole trilogy, not to mention other game that put saves everywhere) the
Fucking devs cannot put save game directory into game catalog or what.:x

Looks good.
But stuff like "better realizm, yada yada" not.

Will try it anyway.

How about difficulty? It's not insane or imba shit like anomalies on every entrance like Sidorov bunker (yeah, that was in my last tested mod, before my game wiped out from HDD)?

Difficulty is okay. It's not a cakewalk but it's difficult enough to keep you on your toes at all times. Anomalies are like vanilla, so they are always visible. There's also blowouts but you're not warned before they happen, which is a bit silly, and they last longer than in most mods and do a lot more damage.

Have you changed fsgame.ltx file in the game directory?

You know, it's heluva lot of mods in this pack. Even without Murphy's Law it have increased chance to screw something up.
Install one mod, launch the game and test. If it pass - install another.
