Does anyone know how the mission structure works? Do you have hub cities which can be explored and quest within, or is it the traditional map based missions?

Well, first off, there's only one city - Seattle, WA. But your question can pertain to the neighborhoods and maybe the outlying towns in the Seattle metro. Apparently, it seems you can crawl around the city and at least gather the quest/missions. You then get loaded into the actual mission map after 'being ready' for that mission. They haven't released a ton of video footage, but we do have this:

Haha! Oh the irony. To think that Weisman created Shadowrun, in order to set themselves apart from the numerous generic Tolkienesque worlds, only to have someone create a prequel set a millennium eariler. Dude must have been pissed.

Yeah, I'm sure he was super pissed when he worked on Earthdawn's first edition

No stealth sucks though:decline:
Subterfuge should be an important part of running the shadows. Storming into heavily fortified and guarded compounds all guns blazing usually leads to an untimely death. Hopefully there will be workarounds in the editor, even if there is no skillbased system.

I'm pretty sure the development cost is more expensive in Seattle than Denmark, but I may be wrong.

Considering the prices to rent office space and the general costs of living in Copenhagen, I highly doubt this is the case. The reverse is probably true to a significant degree.

You should have tackled the obvious in the absurd comparison; the games have completely different capabilities in engine and graphis, and one of them has a fully functional editor.

I still think Harebrained seems to have been one of the companies to present the smallest "amount of game" based on the KS budget they ended up with, so I hope that editor is gleaming.

forcing Steam for future DLCs 9which i hope are more closer to expansions, isntead some greskins).
steam for future dlc wasn't their choice.

You don't get to complain over decisions from above when you go to a crowdsourcing platform.

So far, it seems so, but we'll need to wait for the final games to be able to compare. But considering the budget differences between Expeditions: Conquistador and SRR, the first one wins hands down with the game/budget ratio.

Even if they mismanaged the funds a bit and only provide a 15 hour campaign it will still be worth the asking price if it's quality. And the mod tools should add a lot of game time, especially with the number of drooling at the mouth old modders from the Neverwinter days that I have seen talking about this game.

I'm optimistic.

Besides stealth, what features have they gotten rid of?

The ability of saving where you want, looting enemies and ammo management but it can be argued that checkpoint save have it's merits and Shadowrun isn't a loot whoring hack n' slash/action game and not a survival RPG either.

Ammo management is about the only thing that could have some interesting features in the game, but only if it was connected to maybe weight limit, access to ammo and a bunch of other mechanics that might limit it. Still in most case ammo comes down to a thing that you have easy access to only Jagged Alliance 2 with more guns did really handle ammo well.

It fit the story that ammo and the right kind of ammo would be a problem, but in a game where you are a Shadow runner it makes little sens other then being money sink.

Here is my old opinion about loot in Shadowrun

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Even special ammo was not much of a money sink compared to cyberware, or vehicles (although these are not in game). It was a hassle to get it in sufficient amount on the black market through, if I recall.

Yeah, I hope the game still allows me to play a sneaky git even without stealth... somehow :(

Call me heretic, but SRR's lack of a stealth skill may be in fact somewhat possitive if it forces modders and even developers to include stealth through elaborated patrol routes and intrincated level design instead of making enemies get blinder and blinder as you pour skill points into sneaking.

Does no stealth mean no tricking people into thinking you belong where you don't, or is that still in (they made a big deal about it before), and just sneaking is out?

In general bots only "share" information across lines of sight, except in some cases. Most exceptions to this rule will be invisible to the player, as they are completely behind the scenes and AI only acts on the shared information once LOS is established. Sound also carries in SRR, so firing weapons can bring guards running, AI very low on health will occasionally call for help too.

The primary tool the player has for interfering with this is melee combat. Quick, silent melee kills can progress you quite stealthily through a level. As long as you don't trip any alarms as you do it.

Deeper information on AI behavior will posted on the wiki, I'll try to remember to link it here once it's up.

That doesn't really answer my question. I mean are you going to be able to steal/forge/buy false identities or disguises and get access to places where the AI thinks you are one of them?

I know i'm a shallow graphicswhore, but i wouldn't change the 2D backrounds with any 3D crap, even if that meant a bigger game or more gameplay options.

There are four reasons for SRR's "small amount of game":

1) Relatively small budget, yet larger than what was originally expected, which led to design scope issues
2) Poor choice of engine ("Fuck research, let's just use what the Double Fine guys are using!")
3) The editor (making an editor is fine, but it'd be fine to delay its release a few months, for instance)
4) 2D backgrounds

So they could have done better, even if they kept the 2D backgrounds.

1) Small budget is only an excuse because of the scope of the game.

2) No excuse.

3) The editor is the only excuse, just as I've made clear in all my posts in case you missed it.

4) I accept that excuse.

I'm not trying to make excuses for anyone.
