Jep. This is pure win. I would guess that it was a scam scheme if I hadn't played the awesome beta. Almost too good to be true.

Btw, did anyone use the advantages of isometric projection to create an optical illusion maze ingame yet?
Something like this would guarantee endless mindfucks:

Inception the game would be fun.

Haven't seen or heard of something like that, NotAGolfer. Except for a level in Diablo 2, which was kinda like that. Can't remember what the area was called.

While I've never played both games myself, Echochrome and Monument Valley kind of do that. Both are puzzle games, though. I think there was a few games that included dungeons (or moments) like that, but I can't recall specific :( (Oh, while it's not an isometric game, you can count FEZ in.)

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Divinity: Original Sin 2 A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath
Thanks Nephologist!

If memory serves, your trailer said no item grinding, so how have you made loot exotic?

Equipment supplements characters and builds, but are far from the top of the list of things that will win you a fight (though any armor certainly helps). Essentially the idea being you don't have to be looking for the best equipment to be able to progress. You could probably clear the game with a party wielding iron frying pans.

It was interesting seeing the game mentioned on those sites — there was one in RPS too! Great to know more than the kickstarter folks know about the game now, a flood of new folks allowed us to finally get nice coffee and tea since dukeofwhales bestowed us with some.

We'd sooner not make a game than make it anything but isometric.

Anti-Chamber played around a lot with one's perspective.

Ah, yeah. I remember that. It's in my backlog. And that remind me of another similar game NaissanceE, which is also in the backlog.

So combat is more dependant on what? A good build, a well balanced party? Just curious, didn't play much yet.

God damn are you trying to seduce me Whalenought_Joe because if you are it's working

:codexisfor:

What's the approximate timetable on the final release and expansion?

Expansion will be worked on after release assuming we don't sink, not an exact time table on that but should be a much more optimized development cycle now that everything is running smoothly.

A good build, a well balanced party?

Those would be the highest dependancies — you get points every level to distribute into skills/spells/aptitudes to make them individually powerful or try to diversify. Figuring out effective ways to synergies those for an individual character and the party whole, especially mid/late game, will make or break your group. You can have really good characters at that time that specialize in a small amount of things effectively, but they'll always be flawed in everything else. So if you were to focus every point and stat into hitting hard — the odds of actually landing a hit will becoming insurmountable, so you'll be wanting to be supported accordingly. Aptitude dialogue uses also bring in some in-combat and pre-buffing flavor, like setting traps, curses, potion making.

I think we set that to private or something a while ago because the art was becoming increasingly outdated with recent passes, which probably isn't helping the (low) pool of media out there of the game. We're planning on putting new ones up when we get some time that more properly reflect the final implementation of those systems.

Whalenought_Joe, any eta on a linux beta? (no pressure)

We just got 2.1 this morning with Unity 5 implemented, and want to look into Linux as soon as we get a bit more time to make sure all systems are ok for it. The last time we tried it, which was a while ago, there were some shader issues but we've been optimizing since and are hoping to get a handle on it soon. It will definitely be included in beta builds by the time we have the demo out for all OSes. Will let you know!

Thanks a lot. Kudos for upgrading to Unity 5. It's definitely better to do that first. :salute:

Whalenought_Joe that last trailer you guys put together was fucking impressive. Seriously, how in the world are just two of you able to come up with all this? The music is top notch, the graphics look ridiculously good, you're hitting on all the right notes on the design front (from combat being lethal due to rng, no quest grinding, a romanian/bronze age/occult setting, manually drawing runes and typing out words of power....), even the trailers look so professional.

Yeah, that's weird...
Hah, I got it! They are just the front for a bigger company that wants to avoid the inevitable backlash if their ambitious design doesn't work out. That's why they are such a cute, likable couple too. It's all lies!
:shunthenonbeliever:
Also female CRPG designer?
Dead giveaway!
There are no good female CRPG designers, because these are games with lots of numbers and gurls suck at math.

Thanks! We're trying to bring in a lot of gameplay ideas that haven't been used in a while that we think are a lot of fun, but don't really know how it'll be received when we finally release. Glad to hear you're liking where we're going with it! That makes us happy!

We knew we needed to make something flashy to get some kind of attention for the game, especially with the release date looming closer. That's sort of worked, we're hoping some lets-players that we're going to send the next beta patch to pick up interest. We just need enough money to fund our next game to call this a success.

Are your future plans more SitS? A different game in the same codebase? Or something completely different? Assuming this is a success, of course. Just wondering if you're planning to keep bringing the incline.
