It's a standalone expansion of the previous one. If you liked it you'll like this one.

I did like the previous one, but I'm hesitant to get my hopes up about this because it kind of looks like they're trying too hard.

Reviews are commenting that it's a frankenstein monster where Saint Row traditional mechanics clash with the superpower stuff, it has the walking on walls and flying powers of prototype, the overpowered powers with power pick ups from crackdown with the usual Saint's Row stuff but with alot clunky in places. Negative: The powers really break the ballance of the game making it really easy, stealing cars is pointless as you are faster using the run faster power, crew upgrades are pointless as they don't get the same powers as you and alot of assets were reused. Positive:The powers have dedicated activities to them making them more than gimmicks, there is a decent amount of content (so DLC with full retail price isn't entirely true) and people claim that they improved the writing and jokes feel more spot on this time. It is Saint Row 3: New Vegas based on the reviews.

Well Saints Row 3 at the end was easy, hell if you grindan you would be invulnerable without cheats with infinite ammo.

Still did not stop to be fun, some people apparently cannot have fun unless they are "challenged" and by that I mean stupid bullshit difficult that makes it less of a game and more of a job.

Moo?
Ped War is back? Awesome. Nothing quite like flooring it through a city that has collectively lost its shit, that was the highlight for me in some of the old SR and GTA games. San Andreas even worked it into the storyline mission where you go after Tenpenny.

The Blood is gone (metal radio station.) Volition have stated that it was removed because their metrics showed that only a small percentage of players listened to it.
:decline:
Yeah, half the songs were shitty nu-metal, but it still had more good songs than any other station. Except the classical one, obviously:obviously:

SR2 is one, if not the, best game ever made.
the charlie (the asphalt kid) storyline had me emotionally engaged, and the rest of it fit perfectly, sillyness (heck of a lot of it) and all.
it will stand as the harbinger of the great incline. no game thus far has ever been as great as this.
let us hope SR4 tries to top it, cuz SR3 was shit.
oh lord have mercy on us
Indeed, I feel you bro.
Maybe not the best game for me or anything, but SR2 was very very fun and SRTT is a huge backward step for the series.
A great balance of drama, comedy and WTF johnny gat moments really makes SR2 special for me.
SR2 improves GTA San Andreas formula to its fullest, that's how GTA clones (and GTA series themselves) should be IMO.
Hope SR4 will be better than SRTT, though I'm pretty pessimistic about that.

And here, ladies and gentlemen, is an example of a human subspecies called Consoletards.

Every review of this ever:

"It's so silly and dumb, we ALL love that, so buy it!"

I guess all gamers are the same person with the same taste.

Based on the opinions of people I've read and heard that does seem to hold true. Friend was enamored with parodying of games, even if it seems to be done with Scary Movie subtlety :)

Another trailer:

That is why I love saint's Row, dumb as hell but don't pretend to be otherwise, on contrary of Bioware pretentious dumb that manage only to be annoying. Sincerily, the plot and dialog in Mass Effect 3 are so terrible that Saint's Row parody appear to have more personality .
