Is this game actually like Stalker or are you guys just shit posting?
You can watch live video footage of this game for free.

Looking like the reviews are saying "buggy as shit but still pretty good, wait a year." This really is STALKER 2.

Honestly think that every studio using Unreal is a massive gaming decline, means every game is the fucking same slop *drag and drop AI/physics/anim/whatever to NPC*. All this because companies can't hire developers skilled enough to learn and master a new tool, and or develop lower level functionality for their games.
Unreal Engine is the new Unity

I mean not that it matters since from the looks of it i'm not gonna be able to run it but i'm curious.
It feels like STALKER with a higher budget and a bigger emphasis on the story and presentation. All the old comments in this thread like "it's going to be a Metro clone" were completely wrong. Every aspect from the old games is still here (except faction wars I think), and in some cases improved.

All the negative Steam reviews seem to be from either butthurt vatniks complaining about MUH NO RUSSIAN, or people complaining about poor performance on their $10000 fake-frame engines (which is every fucking game these days). Hard to tell if it's worthwhile.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Performance seems fine so far.
Some visual glitches at times but not a perf issue for me atleast.
Idk why people are whining about DLSS and frame gen when it's a raytracing only title with Low settings just bumping it down to software Lumen. Of course its optimization would be based around some kind of upscaling and frame gen.

Apparently the player flashlight does not cast dynamic shadows LMAO
Unreal Engine 5 literally worse graphic features than a homemade Ukrainian engine from 2007.
Digital Foundry will defend this.

Instinct is to leave it for a bit and wait on patches. GSC are still GSC after all.

Hope they've iterated well on the originals. Also hope there isn't too much war-related shit in game, Zone's plenty depressing enough as is.

Edit:

You're fucking joking, raytracing only? What on earth are they playing at?

Most UE5 games are raytracing only and the raytracing OFF mode is just software lumen raytracing

UE5 is fully capable of doing shadow casting flashlights. Must be a GSC thing
I'm sure it is, but at what performance cost?
Every engine is "capable" of having shadow casting lights.

Almost nothing. I think it's more an oversight. One issue could be that due to the nature of how fast moving a player held flashlight is that the shadows it casts become a smeary mess when combined with TAA, TSR and DLSS

Well shit. Guess it'll be at least half a decade before I play this.

Reviews that go over performance are very much worthwhile. To ignore performance is what journalist often do.

Well, yes but all games perform like dogshit these days and look worse than 2006 games so it doesn't help distinguish this from Shitty Console Port #4345345 or Shitty Console Port #4345344

Mods will fix it

Oh wait, it's UE...
UE doesn't prevent mods, unless they use Denuvo. In fact, it will be easier for them to create modding tools for the game for longterm support, because UE is available to everyone
