the mod is from 2010
And Half Life 2 is from 2004.
yeah, and it had the ability to have a realtime camera feed on a monitor(or a weapon scope). yet again i am awed by the impotence of the unreal 5 engine.

Picture-in-picture sights are expensive and that cost increases exponentially if your game already has a high graphical target. There's a reason why picture-in-picture sights are not standard in almost any game, unless there is a very specific gameplay reason for it.

One thing that sucks is that these days developers dont bother with separate high resolution texture downloads like old games had, like freespace 2 etc. Or is it simply too hard to make on unreal engine 5?

Having 4k textures is pointless when playing with 1080p resolution.(well not even that when these games require upscaling bullshit like dlss.

maybe they could have cut down on the foliage, of which half pops in 2 feet in front of you anyway?

And? Gunslinger mod also has it, doesn't change the fact that it costs half of your framerate, unless it works like the shader scopes mod which is just upscaling, and as a result it's blurry if you want high zoom.

Not how it works. Textures are placed across large objects. You can be close to the object, if it's a hypothetical 1080p texture and you're only seeing 1/4th of it, you'll see it at 540p instead of at 1080p with a 4k texture.
Textures are not necessarily where most of the cost of rendering is. Only filesize.

Anyone playing on veteran difficulty? I had only one hour with the game so far, but it seems all it does is turning everything into a bullet sponge. Flesh took 3 PM mags to the face before it died, and the bloodsucker was downright impossible to to kill. If that's what higher difficulty does in this game then fuck this gay shit.

Those of you playing, is it possible to turn off that yellow jizz? The community manager said on Discord that it would be a toggle, I wonder if they were lying.

Pretty much every modern UI element you may dislike, you can disable. I've turned pretty much everything off myself. Really the only big thing I miss so far from the original trilogy's UI is the conversation windows.

Game starts with a little too much cutscene/narrative stuff, but it's essentially a tutorial section. Gunplay has felt really satisfying, atmosphere has been great, and the challenge so far on Veteran difficulty has been getting the job done. Performance using FSR upscaling and most everything on high is pretty good all things considered, on my rather dated system of a Ryzen 7 2700x Eight-Core and a GTX 1080.

Getting 30-40 FPS at 1440p with DLSS performance mode lol

Downloading the NVIDIA drivers for STALKER 2 ended up boosting me to about 50-60fps. It also fixed the issue the Dead Space Remake had with insufferable stuttering; I really hope that doesn't come back. I should have specified this was on High settings, I'm restarting the game after setting it to Low. Aaaaand it's c̶o̸m̸p̵i̴l̴i̷n̷g̶ ̶s̴h̷a̷d̶e̴r̵s̶ a̴g̶ain
