It really annoys me that you can't delete save games in this game. Ffs, I misclicked once, and now I have to live with an irrelevant save game forever? What the fuck.

You can.

-disable cloud saves for RE4 first
- go to Steam userdata folder and find the 2050650 folder (this is RE4 Steam ID), then open remote, then win64_save
-delete the files for slots you want to free up
-now play the game again, and do something like saving in your desired slot, using you Capcom points or anything that will modify the existing files in the userdata folder (it won't work otherwise)
-now enable cloud saves for RE4 again, next time you play there will be a prompt about save mismatch asking if you want to upload the local files to the cloud or download existing ones, select local files

Why would we? Standard practice nowadays is to put the remaster in and unlist the old title. Dark Souls, for example. Sometimes they pull classic titles just like that too, Unreal recently. And then there's always better ways to play RE4 than on Steam, don't you think?

Would've been great, but I'm pretty sure that Capcom, just like all other publishers, don't care about the preservation of their libraries.

Their execs probably ran a few financial calculations, and realized that dealing with the old stuff will earn them pennies, while at the same time costing them a lot of money in reassigning their valuable programmers to test, reverse-engineer and fix possible issues.

GOG previously contacted Konami and released Silent Hill 4 on their storefront. I wouldn't be surprised if they also tried to contact Capcom (since there are fan patches available that make RE 1-2-3 completely playable on PC), but for whatever reason Capcom declined their offer.

Right after finishing I jumped into mercenaries, and while it was a blast I disappointingly got an S rank on all stages in about 20 minutes. The original had more difficult mercenaries for sure and more content therein.
