You receiving what you paid for. They were uterly scared to do anything extra, because people paid for what they think is this.

I can live with IE combat, this is worse. This is Lionheart bad.

-Tiny ass inventories replace IE inventory tetris with "Send every shit to stash" tetris. Also should be a quick way to send things to stash.

A hotkey for doing that would be nice, or maybe a mouse button (middle click?). Maybe they could even let you marquee select items for mass stashing.

or they could just scrap the stash idea and go back to a proper inventory because it just sucks.

Yeah the stash idea sucks balls. It's basically the same as a Bag of Holding, except you can't access it everywhere afaik.

There was NOTHING wrong with the IE grid inventory, all they needed was a search box and some filters.

It's due to bugs. The concept is good.

My impression as well. A large amount of my beta complaints so far I can trace back to things not working correctly.

Another reason I'm currently waiting at least until the auto attack bugfix is here.

Don't act like you don't know why the stash exists.

I get the impression that Zed's real issue is with the non-stash inventory being too small, though. Me, I think that's a potentially cool tradeoff. A smaller, more tactical inventory more akin to that seen in tactical RPGs.

The E3 demo had 16 slots per char - that looked fine.

it is messy and worse than IE, but they have time to make it much better.

But how can the combat be this bad at this stage of the development? That should the the one thing that works and is fun.

Wasteland 2 was also pretty bad when it launched the beta, and it had content issues. PE seems fine on the content (barring a few tweaks/additions), performance is a little better than WL2 launch, camera and controls are overall pretty good, but it does have a lot of issues that WL2 didn't have. As much as I was annoyed by my initial impressions of WL2, I've now experienced a few KS betas and this is in the ballpark with the others.

nah I dislike the stash too. like sensuki says, it's essentially a bag of holding. bag of holding was a shit idea too.

BG2 had it down very well. what they needed in BG2 was perhaps an additional row of space for Throne of Bhaal. SO: one pretty big inventory per character (BG2 had 8x2=16... maybe 24?), and limited by weight. Weight obviously being dependent on strength. oh wait they replaced strength with might, the dumbed-down all-purpose damage and healing-increasing stat. oooooooooooooooooooooh

You could take things out of the bag of holding, though.

I have some bad memories of walking in and out of some of the IE games' larger dungeons (such as Durlag's Tower) every time my inventory filled up, so I'm okay with/supportive of a stash-like mechanic.

It may be possible to find a compromise here - an optional "realistic stash mode", perhaps. Or rather, "more realistic". The idea - make it so you can only put items IN the stash at rest spots, too. Have it function essentially as a mobile party storage chest, like the car in Fallout 2.

Stash system likely isn't going to be changed at this point. It was also something that was announced ages ago, the time to object/come to terms with it was then.

Tweaking combat speed and such should be feasible though.

They also should increase the volume level of footsteps.
I really miss the simple pencil drawings of items & weapons in their description windows.

That kind of frivolous clutter would take away valuable time from balancing the combat/ushering in a new Third Reich of video game development.

EVERYTHING was wrong with that inventory. if I were to name a single most infuriating thing about IE games I'd go with inventory.

I understand that it's *MAGIC*, but it's ridiculous how every character can have multiple pieces of armor, bottles, ammunition and weapons - all in one bag. not to mention that you shouldn't be able to loot armor off corpses you just chopped into little pieces. the whole looting thing was broken in IE games. that's not even bringing the whole "bag of holding" into the discussion

Well, the IE games mostly had a "loot what you see" system when it came to armor and weapons, so their approach to inventory was pragmatic. Judging from the beta, PoE only lets you loot armor and weapons off enemies very rarely, so they can afford to go with a smaller inventory.

I'm guessing you're loving the new infinite stash then?

I'm guessing the stash will be explained as part of the main character's "chosen one" background.

This is not what they said would happen though. They said it would be a WYSIWYG looting system. I noted that humanoid enemies didn't drop any gear, and I'm going to bring it up once I've played more. This is something that's imperative to an IE looting feel. Who gives a rats if they need to rebalance the economy, their own fault for making it like this in the first place.

Also could be that the systems they have in place make it more scripting work to get proper loot drops (derp), which is why they haven't been implemented yet.

didn't back the game. will wait for a GOG or Steam sale before I play it +M

as for infinite stashes /bags of holding:

I'm ok with both, as long as the character's inventory is small and can only hold small items. an infinite stash is easier to go along with because it's something you don't carry, it could be a whole cave/building where my party stored their gear

I feel like they took inspriation from Arcanum's real time mode.

Is this game that similar to IE games?

Or does it feature enough interesting ideas to consider it an original RPG?
