Dog only gets 1 APR, Smilodon gets 5

Dog gets iterative attack so it also ends up with 3 APR but not at full bab of course. Another interesting thing about Dog's Bite - it is treated as two handed weapon and this pet gets * 1.5 dmg bonus from STR with one of the best STR stat among the pets. It also gets *1.5 version of Power Attack. AND trips on every hit with fairly decent CMB, when Leopard gets only one attempt with Bite +x2 Claws, smaller and has lower STR

Where is this coming from? Pets don't get iteratives
They do.
Why would Dog get iteratives while Leopard doesn't? This makes no sense

I did provide a reasoning for my points.

Thin to none, which is ok. The way you use your pet is very unique.

I don't use the Big Cat anymore since it breaks my games and am very much enjoying Leopards and Mastodons and the like.

Thx, Daidre, I was thinking Okbo got some iteratives but had read somewhere else that pets don't get them. Yeah, he's quite the Tripper as well, as I can attest.

Funnily enough one of the most fun playthroughs I had was with a solo fire domain druid, foregoing the pet and using a glaive to deal damage. That playthrough I started on hard though and raised it to unfair in Ch2, I don't recommend starting a solo on unfair unless you have a pet, its just a reloadfest otherwise and not real gameplay.

Is a ranger's animal companion supposed to benefit from a ranger's favored enemy bonus or is it a bug?

You can see how many attacks they get on the wiki page here: https://pathfinderkingmaker.fandom.com/wiki/Animal_Companions
No shit, that's what we've been arguing about for pages because nobody thought to explain that Owlcat straight up invented their own rules for certain pets.

I'm asking what BAB progression they use because it might open up buffing via Transformation as a strategy
For that to work, you would need your animal companion to be able to cast transformation. Its a personal buff.

It's a feature. An Owlcat feature.

So i guess they use medium BAB. So if we cast Transformation on them we should get 4APR on the Dog.

However I still don't think this competes with the Smilodon as it gets its attacks at full BAB.

It certainly makes them a lot less shit than they at first seemed, though.

I really like the Mastodon, because I like elephants. Elephants are awesome.

Nothing to do with two handed weapons. That's how single natural attacks are treated in the Pathfinder ruleset.

https://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/rules-for-monsters/universal-monster-rules/#Natural_Attacks

PF Rules said:
If a creature has only one natural attack, it is always made using the creature’s full base attack bonus and adds 1-1/2 times the creature’s Strength bonus on damage rolls.

No this one is straight from rules.
This animal is a loyal companion that accompanies the ranger on his adventures as appropriate for its kind. A ranger’s animal companion shares his favored enemy and favored terrain bonuses.

If you really care about your animal companion, you should have an Alchemist in the group to cast Shield and Barkskin on him (you can satisfy your Barkskin needs in other ways, like a Druid, a Sensei or your Cleric domain spell slot, but to get Shield you need to rely on an Alchemist).

If you have an Alchemist in the group, you can cast Transformation on whomever you want.

And the reason I would not know this, if you have been reading the last few pages, is because I play solo and if you are a solo alchemist, you do not have an animal companion. Likewise, if you are a solo sorcerer, druid, hunter, cleric with animal domain or any of the other classes with a pet, you don't have the ability to cast transformation on a pet. I am sure I am ignorant of a lot of things when it comes to group synergy, not just this, because its not something I think about much when playing the game. Thanks for teaching me something new though :D

So the meta build of the new game is still kingmaker: wrath of the enlarged penis str based weapons?

Right, if pets are using the PnP BAB progression then they have +12 BAB at level 20.

That means casting Transformation on them should grant them +16 BAB at level 20. Since pets cap out at 'level' 16.

That means they will get a fourth attack at level 20 owner level, and a third attack at level 13 owner level, while under Transformation

Usually they'll only get 3 attacks max, and the 3rd one is gained at owner level 18

Next question would be, does the dog trip on every bite, or only the first one

Still, remains to be seen if it has the CMB to reliably trip endgame stuff
