Allods online assets everywhere with city buildings. In a few months from now everyone here will get that reality check.

Did a google search and found a connection! haha :)

About Owlcat Games

Owlcat Games was founded in 2016 by a group of developers united by their love of CRPGs. The team is led by veteran game designers behind titles like Heroes of Might and Magic V, Silent Storm, Etherlords, Evil Islands: Curse of the Lost Soul and other games. Team members also took part in the development of popular MMO titles Allods Online and Skyforge.

Why would anyone care if city buildings in WotR were similar to buildings in Allods online?

Insert Title Here Pathfinder: Wrath
I'm going to have a hard time playing any Mythic Path but Trickster.

Persuasion Trick = free Demoralize (of all foes) to open combat
Lore (Religion) = Treat Affliction can remove any condition

Every Skill gets a major upgrade along those lines (you choose one per level). There's also a re-roll all skill checks Mythic ability, and another one that gives you +3 to all checks. So smoove.

Same here, I'm digging chaotic dialog options much more this time also.We can really play tricks on them fools.

I think he meant about the game being more open, like more acts/quests. While I think being more open is needed to weed out the bugs but I really don't want to spoil myself more.

What even is an allods
It's an infamous WoW clone which was (according to people who played it, never tried it myself) pretty decent, but then the devs tacked on the most exploitative and annoying f2p system on top of it in the times when that was quite rare - it could be that Allods were actually the first pay2win MMO with that kind of focus on micro-transactions (I guess that's what traumatized guestposting that hard )

Paging Lacrymas

Looks like there is way, way, way more branching than I thought as the game goes on.

From a recent Q&A with the developers:

12. How sand box’y will WotR be?

They traded some of Kingmaker’s sand box’yness for the large branching quest arcs of WoTR. Each mythic path lets you really derail the base story and go in it’s own direction. Your class will potentially change the whole genre of the story...

23. Will we be stuck as a generic lich or will you be able to be an archlich?

Don’t really have archliches in the game, but If you’re wondering if you can be a good lich. The answer is no, not really. Liches move the story into more of a dark fantasy setting and you’re doing some really evil stuff.

24. What are the key branching points in Chapter 1-2 for replayability?

Chapter one happens in the city of Kenebres. The city that was just destroyed by a demon lord. You have to try to reclaim it from the demons. At some point there is a second attack which completely changes most of the locations. Depending on when you go to the locations can determine your interactions with the locations. Sometimes it’s better to come late. It will add a lot of replayability.

25. Can we follow Staunton’s example and join the demons? A million cultists can’t be wrong!

You can become a demon and instead of following, like a cultist. You can lead the demonic hordes.

26. Will we be able to go into the worldwound? Or, just Mendev?

Kenebres borders Mendev and the worldwound, most of the game takes place in the worldwound though.

27. Does the demon path refer only to demons? Or is it demons and devils?

A demon can’t turn into a devil because they hate eachother. But, there may be a secret devil path

42. How are you implementing the threat that the demon armies pose during the crusade? Will there be a timer? Or, will demon armies march against you?

They will march against you. But, there will be no “You will lose in 3 months, unless…”. They’ll go to your house(warcamp?) and burn your villages and sacrifice your townsfolk.

43. How many mythic paths will have spellbooks?

All of them. Not sure about the late game ones. Dragon, Swarm that walks and Legend. But, it should be all of them. Every mythic spellbook will have spells that will benefit pretty much any class. A fighter will still get useful spells from the lich spellbook for instance.

So substantially shorter than Kingmaker with a fuckton more branching, which mostly comes after you choose a mythic path at the end of chapter 2.

Welcome to the hype train, you sons of bitches.

Hopefully, each playthrough is still substantially long tho. PfK was what? 90ish hours I think? My Steam play hours is kinda wonky because I restarted too much.

And the Devil path is most likely tied to the stretch goal dungeon with the sphinx waifu?

Additionally, the Demon path is hopefully more thematic instead of just "join the Demon" route. Lich and Swarm based on current information are very unlikely will be interesting for me. It would be annoying if I need to add Demon to the list of Mythic Path I am not playing.

Trigger the Blood War on Golarion in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Copyright Lawyers. Maybe that's why it's secret?

In Pathfinder
Perhaps because the Blood War isn't OGL-covered, Pathfinder makes no use of it. Demons and devils fight, yeah, but that's because they're evil, destructive bastards who sometimes get in each other's way. There's no big philosophical fight between the two. Indeed, as demons in Pathfinder are created from mortal sins, and devils live to corrupt mortals by committing sins, one can say that devils literally create demons.

This does not explain why, since the demons have vastly larger numbers than devils, same as in D&D if not more-so (The Great Beyond cosmology doesn't go into the whole 'balance' thing), they didn't destroy much of Golarion and the Prime Material Plane already, given how none of the Celestial races focuses on directly opposing them, though local gods are known to. In fact, demons and devils so rarely come up against each other in Pathfinder Adventures/Modules, that it often feels like Paizo is trying their darnedest to not even hint at there being something similar to the Blood War in their universe, and get sued by WOTC.

A lot longer than 90 hours. Easily 140-160 if you do the last chapter against the lantern king.

It sounds like with the demon path, you don’t so much join the demon invasion as take over the demon invasion. That or you form your own horde to topple the ruling demon lord and take his place.

Can't blame Paizo for being careful around that area. WOTC are pretty litigious, ironically fitting the LE Devil stereotype rather well.

Well. I'd be very impressed if they can pull this off. When is this game coming out?

I honestly am expecting of more inner struggle stuff. While certainly not Good I was expecting a Chaotic Neutral kind of stuff while you are trying to reign the demonic influence instead of fully going bananas with power.

Well. I'd be very impressed if they can pull this off. When is this game coming out?

Supposedly June 2021. That's a fairly optimistic estimate tho imo

16. Any news on modding?

Currently, no news but they are looking at the options for implementation. Will happen later in development.

Honestly this is not inspiring at all for the modding part. A good modding game is modular from the grounds up. Having it to be done later in development will probably make for a half-arsed modding support. Oh well.

Official modding support will probably be very limp wristed compared to what people can already do with Unity patching. The main limitation with KM modding right now is it's very hard to get new art assets into the game. If they can resolve that then people will be able to do a lot of things.

I expect at the very least any missing features that already existed as mods for KM will be ported over very quickly.

With big branching paths I fear this is going to be remembered as the Incredible Bugfest of 2021. In Kingmaker they didn't manage to polish simple branching decisions with no real impact (even small details like the Pitax academy choice were so bugged they could break your entire playthrough); if they are going for choices that can modify substantial parts of the game, they are walking an incredible dangerous path. Hopefully, they learned from their past mistakes.
