I killed the barbarian and am returning to my capital for the coronation. This game is over soon, right? I'm not even mad, I just don't want anymore level draining spectre trashmobs
Almost halfway through. Hang in there.

More like 70% done, chapter 5 and 6 are not that long. Although that dungeon in chapter 6 is the most annoying thing ever if you don't play it with a guide.

Just give yourself a set of those boots for each of your party members and don't look back

Swamp boots or something like that

I beat this shit on unfair. Honestly, it just goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And the final 2 chapters basically ruin the (quite good) game that came before, and are among the worst I've ever played in any RPG ever. Game should have stopped at chapter 5 (war of the river kinds, or whatever number that is) and it would have been perfect.

Quit now, if you know what's good for you.

I got an invitation to go to a tournament, it can't be that bad right? Also my companions want me to do more quests with them, I think I'm going to ignore regongar and Octavia, but will go resolve whatever Amiri is complaining about. I think I've solved a few of my companions entire quest lines now, actually.

At some point I'm going to revisit WOTR, does that campaign drag on as much as this one? I only ever got to the demon city through the portal, then I tapped out.

Yes, but only chapter 6 is truly annoying. Many hate chapter 4 because of its annoying construction and being in a completely different location, but I didn't think it awful. Neenio's quest's final dungeon might be the worst thing Owlcat has ever designed, but it's optional.

You were pretty much at the end of WotR. After the demon city it's a hail mary chapter that doesn't really outstay its welcome*. It's you resolving one plot thread after the next in between building an army in crusade mode.

The Tournament chapter is kind of the same. But some things happen in those final months of Kingmaker and the final dungeon is a bit too big.

*nenio's quest is like the kingmaker final dungeon where it breaks this assertion

So basically, I just need to get nenio killed and then WOTR will be painless albeit too long?

Demon City really depends on how much you want to do. If you just want to get through it you can just kill a bunch of people and ignore a lot of questing, but if you want to clean out the quests its a good 10ish hours of stuff. Final chapter is kind of the same and the final dungeon of WotR is very quick. Nenio's dungeon isn't so bad if you just use a walkthrough for all the stupid puzzles.

Kingmaker's final dungeon is just absolute awful tedium going through annoying enemies.

Just noticed it's on sale.
Is it possible to Solo this game?
Yes, but it won't be fun on harder difficulties. People have solo'd the game on Unfair, especially as a sylvan sorceror. It probably involves lots of RNG, although, given that XP distribution is larger if you only have one member of the party, I could actually imagine a solo build being slightly easier in the early parts of the game on Unfair vs with a party as you'll have access to spells earlier and outlevel enemies. It will get hard eventually, though.

I'm currently playing this game for the first time, just started chapter 4(I didn't bother with varnholds lot dlc).

I don't really have anything else to play right now so I've been going through PFKM pretty slowly. To avoid burnout ect, but seriously what do people see in this game? It's just a shittier version of baldurs gate 1. In fact I think all the optional side content in this game is worse then bg1. There's a lot of waiting around for triggers so usually I fuck off and look for side quests but they're always pointless or boring.

Basically every encounter is a trash mob, there's been maybe 3 encounters where I actually had to think beyond 'use buffs'. The writing and story are fine I guess but nothing to really write home about. I actually like the kingdom management, it's not as time consuming as people made it out to be and I get dopamine from completing tasks/events. By far the worst feature of this game is the world map. So much wasted time walking back and forth and resting. Legitimately terrible.

I'll probably beat it since I have nothing else to play right now(I'm also going slowly, maybe 1-3 hours every 2-3 days), and it's not so terrible I feel the need to quit.I really don't see the big appeal in this game. I'd say it's better then both POE games, to give it some credit.

If you’re waiting around a lot you’re doing the KM wrong. Wrong enough and the game will get very interesting. Combat shouldn’t be faceroll first time through unless difficulty is too low.

I think it's starvation of this type of game talking for a lot of people. My opinion at the time was that the game is decent but heavily flawed. I recommend playing it all the way through because it does a decent job of ramping things up toward the end.

The "waiting around" is definitely a bit jarring to begin with, but then the game punishes you heavily if you do that at the wrong time. It's at least something a bit different to games like BG2 where you're apparently desperate to rescue Imoen from Irenicus' clutches... so desperate that you can spend months doing side quests all over the map with no negative consequences.

Oh, trust me, I'm playing this with a guide. I'd like to finish it in this lifetime.

I suggest you try doing chapter 6 without a guide and document it here. That's where I tapped out.

The house? It was a bitch the first time by trying to play smart. Second time 'round, just kill everything, switch lantern, kill everything. Pretty bad still, not as shit as Wrath's final chapter.

There should be no waiting around if you’re doing KM right. If you’re getting the most out of it you’d kill for more time.
