Daily reminder that Blizzard kowtows to the Chinese government on a near daily basis and also for some TOTALLY UNRELATED reason is really interested in collecting all the personal data of anyone living in a country that is in an ideological cold war with China ("it's to improve our safety measures!").

Don't buy Blizzard games. Don't even play Blizzard games. The games haven't been good for 20 years, and the studio has become a haven for demagogues, scumfucks, and morons. It's not rocket science.

They really shouldn't have called this a sequel. Three new heroes, some tweaks to existing heroes and six new maps is not worthy of the title.

I played about an hour last night and got to try all the new heroes but got dumped in legacy maps every time. Didn't even make it to level 2 of their 100 level Battlepass so god knows how long it will take anyone to make serious progress without major, regular XP boosts. I wouldn't care if the new heroes were placed towards the bottom of the pass as cosmetics mean nothing to me but for season 1 the new hero is at level 55!

the people who play these kind of games are willing to accept a rootkit being installed for ~anticheat~ purposes, like they give a shit about their privacy

redditors are shocked to find out that the people working at blizzard are amateurs incapable of making good games
Overwatch is gay enough; I can't imagine a place bunch of Redditor's discuss Overwatch... I'm sure it would be even dumber than an RPG forum where people praise Bethesda and Bioware games.

Will they ask us for our SSN and birth certificates next? Perhaps throw in a urine and blood sample requirement while they're at it.
Been standard practice for online games operated by asian companies for years now, not surprising if it comes to the west.
Anyone who has tried to play a korean(as in, korean client) MMO will likely have gotten blocked by this.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_registration_number#Online_use
Since many South Korean websites require a valid resident registration number (RRN) in order to create an account, this presents many opportunities for identity theft and other types of fraud.

How the fuck are they even justifying this? And for that matter, why bother? They already have all your personal info if you use a card to pay. Is this even legal in all jurisdictions?
You wanna tell me if I wanna continue to play a game I bought 6 years ago even If I were willing to give them a number they want a fucking ID just so I can enter the number? At this point Blizzard is the facebook of gaming companies. Why do people actually defend this? I shouldn't be surprised I guess an update permanently bricked their login app like two years ago so I couldn't get in and support told me to submit ID to remove the 2FA from my account, like what, I have the backup codes just can't enter it on their broken app what they need an ID for. What's even worse seeing the people on the official forum suggesting ID requirement instead of phone as a solution to people not having approved numbers...

Actually I'm not aware of Overwatch 1 or 2 containing some insane "anti-cheat" like certain other games but at this point do they even need it, they can just go with all your info to Microsoft and use their unavoidable backdoors in Windows to do whatever they want. Shame was an decent game at a time now turned into this, can't wait for MS to put CODs on Steam and transfer licenses like with Bethesda so I can get rid of my account on this terrible platform.

This seems to be a flop. Impressions are that the game is worse than OW1 in almost every way.

Naturally the corporate press is lapping it up, sycophants that they are, but real humans are panning it.

It was never going to be good. Overwatch on its own was a wonky game that coasted on the novelty alone but once that ran out it fell by the way side. The game was a mechanical mess with half the rooster serving no or very limited purpose which created a self destructive meta where anyone who did not participate in it was essentially playing against their team. On top of that the game focused itself entirely around one 6v6 mode with most other gameplay modes being reserved for occasional events. Basic stuff like capture the flag or "zombie" survival were treated as extra special events when most other games have them as permanent features. Which would be OK if they added workshop in 2017 not in 2019 when everyone already moved on. The fact that said workshop was just a shit tier script editor with no map making or model editing functions was just a cherry on top.

Overwatch 2 simply gave people the time to sit on the game and actually think about it without hype tinted glasses and the results speak for themselves.

The original characters carry the game and those characters were ripped from the Titan project. Titan project was the last remnant of the pre-merger Blizzard so no wonder they had some quality stuff.

The actual game design is terrible and has nothing to do with the old Blizzard way of doing things.

The queen returns to claim her rightful place on the throne. :salute:

Also blizz cancelled the requirement for a phone number, but only if you already owned overwatch.

My brain refuses to understand how and why some people jerks off to an1me -usually underage- characters. You're on Pornhub; click on Blonde, Brunette, Latina or something sections dammit! Why an1me? Is there any Freudian explaination to this? Whenever I hear about someone who likes furry or an1me porn, i just wanna do this :
