If it is Tegra X2 it should be decent but not great, I am guessing around 1Tflop if using FP16.

The Xbone and PS4 had pretty mediocre hardware even at launch. nVidia could probably get a Tegra with integrated CPU going to about that level at this point, the problem would be keeping prices down and battery life reasonable.

I think what we might see in the hardware is some sort of seamless hardware coupling and resolution scaling - the tablet might be sub-HD so it's hardware can keep up when it's undocked, and then when the tablet is docked the dock adds enough power to output at HD levels.

Either that, or devs preset two graphics profiles depending on whether the game is running portably or not.

Trying to figure out how that controller works though. We've seen one traditional one, but also one that you can disassemble and put on the sides of the tablet.

I like the concept. If it's going to be 720p 30fps games for another generation, at least make them work on the go.

Smartest move from the big companies I saw... Nintendo can now fuse its console & handheld line-up, and focus on what people love about them: simple, fun games.

Now you have a console that plays Skyrim (and likely many other big sellers from the last gen), Zelda, Mario, probably Pokémon, Mario Kart (with local co-op!) and probably big titles like Persona 5...

If they can release it for like $199, that shit will print money.

Would be nice but I doubt that will happen. I guess Atlus would make some sequel to 3ds game (Etrian, SMT4 and spinoffs) instead and keep Persona for Playstation hardware.

Probably will be something similar to Wii U where, if I'm not mistaken, you'd get one "advanced" controller with second screen and one traditional one in a box.

It's wireless, you just pick the one you want. The video shows people using the big controller with it outdoors as well.

I'm in. I am concerned about the price though. I really don't want to have to wait a couple of years for the price to come down. :-P Not that I can't afford a $400-500 system, but I find it difficult to justify paying that much for a toy when I have a family to support.

Are people who play in public on a handheld device even real? I always thought they only exist in marketing material.

I play my 3DS on my daily train commute all the time. A couple years ago, I'd usually get 7-8 StreetPass tags on any given day (between the morning and afternoon trips). It's definitely a lot lower now, maybe 1 or 2 tags per day.

I think it depends on the market.

I've never seen an adult play with a handheld console in public here, and I think most people would consider it embarrassing. A bit ironic since they play crap like fruit ninja on their smartphones but whatever.

In japan I imagine the subway is full of them, but then again Japan is weird.

If the leaks are right price will be 299 for the standard version (tablet only?) and 399 for a bundle (tablet and docking station + pro controller or something like that likely) tbh i don't really see it fly at anything over 250 for the whole package and not many will even play this tablet thing outdoor it's just too big and clunky which means it needs a bag to carry around and protect the screen you can't compare this too a small handheld console like the 3ds or even the smartphones everyone is carrying around anyway, so that means it's pretty much a WiiU 2 for most ppl.

No it's the same in Japan apart from some kids i never saw anyone play anything other then a smartphone game here and there in the train or subway when i was there.
It's really really embarrassing for (normal) adults there to be seen with video games or anything Otaku related.

From the specs the GPU sounds like it's around the level of the GTX 750/750 Ti, or the 960M/965M if you want to talk laptop equivalents. It should be able to run things at 720p pretty competently. Still, those who claimed it wouldn't be under-powered compared to the competition this gen were talking out their ass.

It does look like those jxd tablets, except those have way better games thanks to emulation support.

The new Nintendo console is out and

it looks like shit. What a surprise! Way to invent another gimmicky console Nintendo! They could just make a powerful, regular console and start making Mario, Castlevenia, Zelda, F-Zero, Starfox game on it, and they would be swimming in money. Instead they combine a handheld console and a home console again. When handheld gaming is transitioning to smartphones and tablets. Great job Nintendo.

Yeah, after big hits like PS4 and XBOX1 we really need more regular consoles.
