Most sane mod I found so far in terms of damage/armor calculation: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2882370524

Sick of being chain-staggered and one-shot by peasants with rocks and farm tools in full plate in vanilla, and the "Realistic Battle Mod" is anything than realistic and is like fighting with plush weapons. This one is the best at keeping combat and ranged weapons/arrows deadly, while making armor matter more, in my experience.

Now to wait for a mercenary/serve as a soldier update....

Am gonna start playing bannerlord for the first time, any recommended mods?
I found a warhammer one called The Old Realms, but was wondering if there's any others I should get with it?

Never use mods on your first time playing anything. Enjoy the shit for what it is before you start adding toppings to it.

Back when the Early Access version was first released, data miners found that 50 or so hand-crafted companion NPCs are pretty much already designed and in the game's files, complete with unique names, stats, backstories, dialogue, personal quests etc.

I guess it was too much trouble to actually implement them. 2 and a half years of EA were better spent tweaking spear damage by 0,001% every other patch.

Reminds me of when Argaman or whatever his name is gave an interview a few years back, where he said at that point they had already redesigned the character system like 2 or 3 times from scratch.

I know they get accused of sitting back and collecting checks from the Turkish government or whatever, but the funny thing is I think they really did work on the game all those years. The studio just has no creative direction or leadership at the top, which trickled down into them spinning wheels for years not making much progress, and the final product being a mess of shit thrown together.

Eh I might have made a mistake of going my own kingdom, there is too much grinding involved, also I was too impatient and went for it with only 1.5 mil gold. I already spend 750k just getting two clans into my fledgling kingdom.
Also I forgot to focus into leveling up Charm, it should have been over 200 by the time I went full on Kingdom. Although at this point I cannot afford any more clans so it does not matter if I cannot pass the 4 checks.

Also I keep declaring wars on bigger kingdoms just so I can farm their lords for gear to sell :D
Normally that is opposite of what you want but I am losing 5000 gold per day and cannot survive otherwise. I got 2 cities and 1 castle atm, I should probably not care about keeping them and try to farm 4+ million gold first like I should have done it the first time.

Also all parties except me are currently completely useless and just die to any shit those I am at war throw at them. Whole thing seems like a bug, I am pretty sure in the past others did more (did quests, hunted bandits and enemy lords) and then would sell stuff and contribute to money. Now they just run around my areas, only hire soldiers from my villages and are useless unless I call them into my army..

Good thing enemy AI is also retarded. They keep sending 1000 man armies to attack my well fortified city with 500+ soldiers, lose half the soldiers when attacking (with only like 100 losses on city side) because they never break walls and then when I attack them from the back with my 700 man army I mop them up easily.

My main party is tier 6 only group with about 100 Khan's Guard, 75+ Battanian Fians and rest tier 6 cavalry from Aserai, Vlandia and Empire. I only got owned once so far by bigger army from Sturgia that was full of max level infantry (big shields and spears). I lost half my troops, got away with only my guy alive lol and luckily had good medicine so other half ended up as wounded.
After that I just decided to get more melee Cavalry % in my group and avoid doing big battles vs Sturgia :D

I think that when trying to convince lords/clans to join your kingdom, the amount of money they want in order to join scales to your total gold. So if you approach them with 1.5mil in your inv they will demand up to 600-700k, if you have 600k gold they will demand about 200-300k.

That is not how it worked in the past. Amount they want depended on multiple factors but none of them were about how much money you got. First one asked about 230k, 2nd one asked almost 500k and he came with a Castle. I also had less cash when I got 2nd one to join.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
So, what are the must play mods? I'm looking for gameplay tweaks that implement what Talesworld should have done rather than total conversions, but I am not against these per se (but my MnB1 experience told me it might be better to wait longer for these).

De Re Militari, Improved Garrisons, Diplomacy and Realistic Weather.

I heard that Realistic Battle is also worth checking out, but I think in this mod Platemail armor essentially turns you into a walking tank that can never be defeated unless ganked, so read about it first to see if it suits you.

Haven't kept up with the development of Bannerlord, but I see it's -20% on Steam now, 40 eurobucks. Worth it? You can rate this post yes or no.

Better stability and great modding potential (fact you can enable multiple modules is amazing) as pros.

Perks as either pros or cons depending on your tastes. Same with the grindy skill system.

Downgraded extremely boring companions as indisputable con.

Has they fixed the issue modders were complaining about that a lot of the game is hardcoded or somthing? Modders made an open letter right?

If all you care about is fighting hundreds of battles and autistically grinding your way across the map, then Bannerlord is fine. The combat feels good and is significantly improved from Warband.

If you want a good roleplaying experience / simulation of being a medieval feudal lord, then the game is terrible. The character system, NPC relationship system, fief management, kingdom management, and economy are all trash.

There are some overhaul mods on the way (such as In the Name of Jerusalem II) that look promising, but it'll still be a while until they're ready. So I'd wait until those are released and then buy the game on a larger discount.

Make the Codex Great Again!
Yeah KCD really spoiled me in the medieval simulator department. I enjoy Bannerlord's combat more, but that's about it. Everything else is either broken or bland.

I like the new mountain bandit hideout. Imagine the resource extraction potential here. Lumber would be kind of hard, but those mountains probably have coal and gold.

All of this lumber and no signs of a serious logging operation? It's almost like the continent is populated only by incompetent slackers.

It's probably a lack of G-d's chosen people in the continent. If there were any members of the tribe to guide the continent, they would have already at least reached the industrial era already.

I only created some tiny modifications but I think modding is way easier now if you know programming, but if you are some random kiddo then it's impossible because editing .txts is out of the question.
