Our journey is slowly coming to an end... Or rather, it is coming to an end rather quickly, since we have only a few updates left. My guess is that at this point Bioware was pretty much out of money and time to really flesh out this part of the game. Dealing with Yaga-Shura, Sendai and Abazigal required completing a multi-part quest. With Balthazar that is not really the case, as you will see.
In before we have so much trouble against him that it will still take multiple updates.
Has The Codex reached his final form, or will he level up even more? That is not certain any more.
Apparently Bodhi is the one creature in the game you get most XP for killing. I was pretty sure something in ToB would surpass her, but nope.
If you think The Codex has some OP gear, read on.
I didn't exactly expect flowers, but this is a much colder welcome than anticipated.
Fine by me, guys, it's your funeral.
Wait, what?
Death Count: 404
That was embarrassingly silly.
If I am to have a fun evening on the town with the boys, I should wear something more appropriate.
WellImNotImmediatelyDead. ThatsAnImprovement...
...of sorts.
Time to get serious.
MeetTheMeatgrinderBitches!
FuckTheyreComingOutOfTheWoodwork.
Time to get out of there, I think?
FuckNo!
TheyDontKnowWhoTheyreDealingWith!
DieFuckers!
Well, that was moderately successful.
Boom!
I just love to watch the world burn!
Honestly, you all should be dead now.
IllCarveYourHeartsOut!
Shit, are there more of them still coming?
Yeah, I think so.
This is Yaga-Shura's camp all over again. Time to GTFO.
Good thing those mercenaries don't have ladder climbing on their skill list.
I don't know, what is it?
Yeah, you do that.
I don't believe it was actually worth it to haul all that metallic underwear with me all this time.
Or rather, I'll believe it when I see it.
Come on! Finish already!
What is all this?
The fuck?
:O
:D
I have heard rumours that wearing Big Metal Unit makes you look like an Adamantine Golem. Either that is not true, or some mod broke that feature.
Either way, it provides us with an AC of -25, even without the shield. The armour alone has -10 AC and AFAIK does not block spellcasting (I actually forgot to check, lol).
As for the Boomstick Big Metal Rod...
As you see it does not require any proficiency to use with -14 THAC0 and 5 attacks per round.
Let's try these out on a nearby unsuspecting army.
First, the pulse ammo.
Well, this one's underwhelming.
Maybe scorcher is better?
It's definitely more impressive visually.
Ok. Slightly better for crowd control.
How about those grenades, then?
Whoa.
That's more like it!
Bros, bros, I need some personal space here.
Heh, heh, heh.
How do ya like them apples!?
This is what I call a weapon.
Let's give the pulse one another chance.
Nope, still sucks.
Doesn't matter. It's still my favourite toy ever!
(30 minutes later)
Ah, yes, the plot. Fine, let's move on.
Havarian.
I have a proposition too. How about I fuck you in the anus with this Big Metal Rod?
Like I care, you fucking traitor.
Don't try to blame this on me! They were onto your smugglers even before I got here.
Does he now?
Yeah, fuck you.
Good riddance.
Note: he does not actually turn invisible, he just disappears.
Let's see my new room back at home.
But first, shopping list.
Actually, it's pretty decent now.
Sure, make me Abazigalcoat.
Meh. Double meh when compared to Big Metal Unit.
Finally, I will know the ending.
Luckily I am smart enough to read and understand this.
So, the golem is a bonus stone skin too? That's kinda nice.
The new room then. That sad face sculpture needs to go, I'm afraid.
More uninvited guests. I seriously should install some locks in here.
Ok.
If you are expecting something in the vein of conversation Myrkul from Mask of the Betrayer... TURN BACK NOW, FOOLS!
I believe that last problem has been recently fixed.
I mean, try to kill me, obviously.
Has there ever been justice? I haven't seen any, and I've been to many places.
Cry me a river.
Do you actually want something or are you here just to waste my time?
Sure, whatever.
Aaaaaaaand, he's gone. That accomplished exactly nothing.
tl;dr: Cyric told us... uhm... Actually, that was pretty pointless, but we are going to fight his chosen now. Because trials!
I might as well prepare myself.
Hopefully this does the trick.
With the difficulty level spiking up and down all the time in this expansion, we can never be sure if we are prepared adequately or not, at least until we attempt the encounter.
Here they come.
I'm not immediately dead, so it's looking good.
Let's see how they like some Xtreme Shaving.
Typical.
TheyDontSeemVeryTough.
Actually, I am pretty disappointed.
I think the combo of -25 AC, Stone Skin and Mirror Image is doing its job.
That's cute.
Cyric should be pleased that his favoured ones are getting a warm welcome, heh, heh.
If you can't stand the heat, don't come into my pocket plane!
Oh, come back. We're not done playing!
I bet he think's he's funny.
NowThatsJustAnnoying.
Finally!
Hand of Murder? That sounds interesting.
Mmm, I like.
This should make short work of... Well, anyone, basically.
Hopefully our most important enemies are not immune to this.
Also: triple level up!
We might as well select these randomly.
Next time: The Codex will face Balthazar and... Oh, right.
VOTING RESULTS AND ROLL!
We are now going to decide whether to talk Balthazar out of fighting us, or kill him.
Here is the list of voters and their votes:
1. dirt nap (Unkillable cat)
2. let him off hisself (ERYFKRAD)
3. Just kill the fucker (Baardhaas)
4. GREATER VIOLENCE (Endlösung)
5. Tell him about his non-reproducing balls (Havoc)
6. Never seen paceful solution so I vote for this (Krivol)
7. Peaceful Solution (Wayward Son)
8. there can be no peace (Zdzisiu)
9. MDK (Tigranes)
10. Murder everyone (Erebus)
NA. show us both paths (Azira)
NA. Show us both paths (Storyfag)
11. (pippin)
12. Murder (Blagrar)
13. Kill them all. (auspx)
Azira's and Storyfag's votes were invalid, so are not counted (I am going to show both paths anyway).
And the result is:
13. Kill them all. (auspx)
So, Balthazar is going to bite the dust.
(Lol, brand new account's with literally no other messages vote has decided. Well played.)
Should The Codex use the Big Metal Set?
1. Yes, our hero has earned it fair and square through persistence and metagaming knowledge. Also: FUN.
2. No, those are joke items and using them destroys any kind of challenge and makes the game pointless.
Keep it, you managed to keep golden pantalones for like 5000 episodes and countless number of deaths.
I think you may have a bug or mod because I totally remember Mazzy being Iron (?) Golem when wearing Power Armour. Also no possibility of passing doorways in this armour so it was kind of ballanced

1. Continue using it. [Azira]
2. Use the golem. [Havoc]
3. Use the Big Metal Set. [Baardhaas]
4. Keep rodding. [Wayward Son]
5. no power armor [Endlösung]
6. Keep it [Krivol]
7. Ussse iiit. [Storyfag]
EDIT: everyone got trolled hard by Endlösung. Funny.
