FELICIA'S STOLEN MEMOS 6
A for Awesomeness wins the poll.
Clearing goblin caves wasn't effective enough, it definitely didn't affect their brethren on the surface.
Like if it wasn't enough a wyvern joined the party.
Thankfully, a new wave of ghasts grabbed her attention else we wouldn't have survived.
Hahren Paivel used to tell stories about wyverns.
The "never go to the mountains where they hunt because whole Dalish clans have vanished" sort.
They never had happy endings. Except for the wyvern chicks, I guess.
Later several gangs of Qunari outcasts tried to hinder Hawke's progress.
Was that a Qunari or a Tal-Vashoth? I can never tell the difference.
Tal-Vashoth. Like Salit, but for sale. He must be close.
Are you married?
Why?
It's just... you're the Champion of Kirkwall. Big. Important. I don't know.
Just... wondering if there's a little woman behind the throne.
Let's keep moving.
Their leader was still breathing. Tallis interrogated him using Qunari language.
Then she just slit his throat without remorse.
Salit is already here. He's meeting with the duke at the base of the mountain.
Then we're going the wrong way.
We need to get down there before it's too late.
Screw that, the map revealed the alternative way. No way Hawke will step into this mess again.
More Qunari!
Tal-Vashoth!
You know what I mean.
There was no other option.
It was the meeting place where exchange between sellout Qunari and Duke Prosper was supposed to happen.
Let's get this over with, Qunari, before your assassins find us. Already I regret agreeing to spare them.
I have chosen my path. That choice should not--
Parshaara.
I am here to facilitate your deal with the empress, nothing more.
Ex-Qunari drew his double blades, prompting duke's guard to take defensive stance.
But he didn't turn hostile. He slammed the swords into the ground and demonstrated his part of the bargain.
One of the duke's bodyguards checked its contents.
Well?
Names, Your Grace. It's... a list of names.
In a burst of anger Prosper grabbed the scroll from bodyguard's grasp.
What is the meaning of this?
You asked for a weapon. I am providing it.
We expected the formula for blackpowder! Dreadnought plans, a map of Qunandar, anything! This... this is useless!
Your Grace!
Enter the Champion.
Champion. I should have known you would turn up.
Meanwhile Tallis had managed to infiltrate the guard.
I've been waiting for this, Orlesian.
You dare address me thus, pissant.
Tallis performed extreme backflip and ended up at the vantage on the ruined wall.
Tallis.
I said I would stop you, Salit.
And I said I would slay you if you tried.
If anyone is to do any slaying, it will be me!
Duke charged his crossbow.
A bolt hit traitor's mighty chest. However it was no simple lethal projectile. Instead it marked the Qunari with some green substance.
Turned out to be a bait for his pet wyvern.
Kill them all.
So that culminated in a most tedious boss fight outside of the Ancient Rock Wraith at the Deep Roads.
At first Leopold the wyvern didn't participate in the battle face to face. Instead he was spitting poison at party's location which dealt negligible but consistent damage.
Duke himself was constantly summoning reinforcements, both two- and four-legged.
After receiving his share of beatings Duke retreated, prompting his pet to fight instead of him.
Poisoned food couldn't seriously debilitate the wyvern, but at least it slowed him down.
Stupid beast was too focused on a target that duke designated for him, allowing the rest of the party to take easy potshots at him.
The beast was humiliated enough. Duke took the reigns.
It was the hardest phase by far. In addition to standard arsenal of attacks duke scattered the entire battlefield with explosive bolt. Even collateral damage was high enough to take a party member down.
The battle was nearly lost, yet Hawke had one grenade of resurrection in his pockets. With both mages alive the chances of victory were still high.
Though Duke and his pet had one noticeable and easily exploitable weakness. Evading Leopold's charge attack while near the edge of the arena causes the beast to slip over the edge, leaving them completely defenseless until Leopold regains balance.
Later he switched to using napalm bombs, I kid you not.
It ended up with a cutscene.
Hawke masterfully dodged the beast and cut his leg. Could have done that many times before. Goodbye, scalie.
Duke managed to hold onto the edge of the cliff.
Keep away from me!
The empress will hear of this! Orlais will burn Kirkwall to the ground! All of you will die screaming, I swear it!
And who is going to tell her?
You wouldn't dare!
Wouldn't I?
May you meet your pet in the afterlife, you pretentious dipshit.
Oh, ouch.
Ataash varin kata.
If the duke only knew what he nearly had in his grasp.
Thank you. There's no way I could have done this without your help.
What is the scroll?
This is a list of agent throughout Thedas. Qunari like myself.
Many of them have children, family, friends. They're people you wouldn't suspect.
Some have even left the Qun behind. But if this list fell into human hands, they and everyone they know...
Would be killed.
The Ariqun believes they knew the risks, but what about the innocents? I... I couldn't let this happen.
Instead of pursuing romance Hawke went all serious.
Now that I know what that scroll is, hand it over.
After all of this? Everything I've done to get the list back, you really think I'd just give it to you because you're being cross?
Tallis...
No. But I have something you might find more valuable.
Here.
That was going to be the Heart of the Many. You'd find a jewel, while I'd go off and find Salit... and be back before anyone was the wiser.
I suppose nothing ever goes like we plan, does it?
Take care of yourself, Hawke. Maybe we'll meet again sometime.
So that's it bros: no goodbye kiss or anything.
Let me guess: you haven't seen Tallis since that day.
A safe assumption, given her nature.
And who is left to appease Orlais after a duke's murder at the hands of the Champion of Kirkwall?
Prosper invited it by dealing with Tal-Vashoth. Possibly under orders from Empress Celene.
Imagine the scandal if that was known.
If you believe a Qunari agent.
That's the difficult part, isn't it.
I don't know why Hawke helped Tallis. I suppose she was pretty for a Qunari.
Whatever the reason, I doubt it's the last we've seen of her.
But what do I know? I just tell stories.
THE END
Regarding option B: it ends up with exactly the same boss encounter, except the corridor leading to it is slightly different and you have to do without Tallis.
