An interdictor is a type of attack aircraft that operates far behind enemy lines, with the express intent of interdicting the enemy's military targets, most notably those involved in logistics. The interdiction prevents or delays enemy forces and supplies from reaching the battlefront; the term has generally fallen from use.

IIRC it was something the popes would do where they would be basically say that you're forbidden from going to a certain city. So the meaning is, it's blocking you from going somewhere. Interdictor planes are blocking supplies and reinforcements from getting to the front lines. That's their purpose, not to to have a direct impact on the front lines. The interdictor key here is blocking you from getting out of the dungeon. Kind of a similar idea.
Well, my point really is that a key can't block anything since it opens a lock. An interdictor lock perhaps, but an interdictor key is just incorrect semantically. I think it's more of a case of "let's think up a cool name using dictionary".
Some schmuck would be tempted to waste a rope just to see if there's anything hidden there. Not that I know of any such sufficiently foolish individual.

First order of business is that group of moredhel ahead of us. We do not manage to sneak up on them.
Both Owyn and Gorath get hit for 7.
Owyn charges the witch and hits her for 13.
Gorath's strike is parried.
He then gets hit for 12 by the parrying enemy. Owyn gets charged and hit for 8 and 7.\
Owyn charges the witch again with the same result as before.
Gorath somehow misses again.
Owyn gets hit for 8.
Owyn keeps hitting the witch - another 13.
Gorath finally lands something - a swing for 57.
Owyn finishes the witch with a hit for 14.
Gorath misses with a swing and gets hit for 6. The difficulty of these fight swing wildly depending on whether Gorath is hitting or not.
Owyn's swing is parried.
Gorath finishes the first fighter with a swing for 56.
Owyn finishes the injured fighter with a thrust for 12.
Gorath connects with a swing for 55.
Owyn cannot finish however - the enemy parries.
Gorath does - thrust for 49.
Owyn griefs the enemy to stunlock and rest up.
After a lot of rest - enemy unfreezes. Gorath tries to finish but is parried and hit for 6 instead.
Owyn re-stuns. And after resting Gorath hits for 44.
And Owyn lands a hit for 12.
Gorath finishes with a thrust for 51.
Good sword on this guy.
And this guy...
And this guy as well. I'm surprised they weren't hitting us harder. Guess our armor is pretty dominant.
Or maybe this guy was the one getting hits.
We can top off with this!
Eventually we reach a large room with some columns and a chest.
No trap here.
And that lock looks pickable!
But apparently its not!
Hoping that his skill is pretty close we keep trying. After many attempts one of our few lockpicks breaks.
If we find more picklocks we can come back and try again, but for now we'll have to be happy with the fact that the experience taught Gorath something.
The lone exit out of the big room leads to a series of hallways that start bending around one of the other wings. What curious architectural design this place has!
And eventually we reach another area with moredhel.
We manage to surprise this batch.
Owyn freezes Leftmost enemy with a frost bolt for 5 hp. Does 10 damage too.
Gorath one shots an enemy with a swing for 56 damage.
Owyn charges and hits for 11.
Gorath somehow fails to hit the same guy with a thrust. Gets hit by another dude's swing for 11 instead.
Owyn misses with a swing, perhaps that guy has good defense.
Gorath hits with a thrust this time - 47 damage is enough to finish that dude. The guy who landed a swing on him previously does so again though. 11 damage.
Owyn charges but misses.
Gorath fails to land a swing as well.
Finally Owyn lands a thrust for 11.
Gorath finishes with a thrust for 43. Last guy unfreezes and charges Owyn.
I try to defend with Owyn while Gorath recharges but that only works for a round before enemy hits Owyn through block for 8.
So Owyn tries to fight - but first thrust is a miss.
Gorath hits for 41 though.
That allows Owyn to get distance and Grief the enemy the next turn. We rest up.
After which - Owyn charges in and hits for 11.
And Gorath finishes with a thrust for 48.
Maybe Gorath will be less likely to spend half the fight missing now.
Very good sword on that one. The ration was poisoned... Some kind of intrigue in the moredhel ranks?
Yay, more topping off.
Nothing interesting here.
The basic sword seems completely absent in this dungeon. Just as well, it would only be scratching us at this point.
What is this bizarre design?
More and more branches.
This one takes us to some goblins. We'll clear them next time.
Owyn getting locked into melee combat in this chapter is really brutal. But Gorath with that sword is gonna be even more brutal by the end, especially when you get more consumables.
Owyn frost bolts leftmost goblin. Does 10 damage due to 5 point investment.
I decide to train Gorath's shooting. His elven kit hits center goblin for 23.
That goblin charges and hits Owyn for 10.
Owyn retaliates for the same amount.
Gorath finishes the same goblin with a thrust for 42.
Owyn lands a swing on the next goblin - 15.
Gorath fails to follow up and Owyn pays the price after being hit with a swing for 13.
Owyn retaliates with a swing of his own - hits for 16.
Gorath finishes the goblin with a thrust for 45.
Owyn rests up while Gorath successfully parries attacks from the awakened goblin. Gorath then one shorts it with a swing for 52.
Owyn got a little better as a result of the fight.
MMmm, more top off potions. Who needs taverns when you're getting a steady supply of these?
Seems like goblins like Dwarven swords.
Not all of them I guess.
As we continue exploring side passages we see what appears to be the exit!
The chest in front of it appears to be a puzzle lock! Its letters are:
BRLESD
PLELHT
DEITOS
AOPSUY
Answer and loot:
I wonder why the chest is even there like that. Maybe its someone's locker?
So this is where the exit is - but there is a lot of unexplored side routes we bypassed. Lets go explore them before moving on.
In this area we find something else.
It's another chest.
In fact its the towel chest.
It doesn't have anything particularly good.
We have to head back a LONG way to find the next area we did not explore.
And there are enemies ahead. We do not get to sneak up on them this time.
Owyn gets hit for 9.
He charges and hits the Witch for 13.
Gorath connects with a swing on one of the goblins. 56 damage.
The witch manages to dodge Owyn's staff.
Gorath reduces another's goblin life force by 53 damage via a swing.
Owyn gets hit for 9 again by the goblin that's been chasing him.
Owyn chases the witch instead and hits for for 13 again.
Gorath goes after the goblin that has been chasing Owyn and hits for 40.
Owyn does another 13 to the witch.
Gorath's thrust is parried and Owyn gets hit for 7.
He takes out his frustrations by beating the witch unconscious with a strike for 14.
Gorath's thrust is parried again and Owyn gets hit for 7 again.
Owyn connects with a swing - but 15 damage is not enough to finish the goblin.
Gorath's thrust finally goes through parry to finish a goblin. 52 damage did the trick.
Owyn's swing misses.
Gorath's thrust does not. 46 damage is enough to stop the last goblin attacking Owyn.
Gorath parries a number of strikes from the last injured goblin while Owyn rests up. Gorath then finishes with a thrust for 51.
Gorath got a lot of improvement out of that fight!
Owyn got better too!
I think Gorath is going to start using that oil.
Witches have some good stuff.
Unlike this guy.
Or this guy.
The door out of this room is locked.
It requires a special key? Maybe there's something special inside!
Looks like a large group of enemies and a chest.
Lets start using all the resources the game is throwing at us.
We sneak up on them.
Owyn throws a fully charged fireball at the batch of enemies but it MISSES!
Gorath gets hit for 7.
He one shorts the guy that charged him with a swing for 81.
He then gets shot for 7 and Owyn gets shot for 15!
Owyn Griefs the power archer with a cast for 10 health.
Gorath lands a 72 point swing on a goblin - but the goblin is still alive! He then gets hit for 13.
Gorath then lands a swing on a moredhel next to him. 64 damage is not enough.
Sensing blood - Owyn rushes in and finishes the moredhel with a 10 point hit.
Gorath charges the goblin archer. 58 damage.
Owyn finishes the other goblin with a thrust for 12.
Gorath finishes goblin archer with a thrust for 68.
They both rest up then Gorath one shots the last moredhel with a thrust for 63.
A lot of good loot on this guy. No wonder he shot HARD.
Naptha gets pretty common. Its a very good enhancement for swords.
Not so much good stuff on this guy.
Goblins usually have gold. Like them best.
Ugh, good thing we didn't get poisoned.
This is the reason why one of these guys did not take as much damage.
The chest is locked.
And its easy for Gorath!
Well, the gold is nice.
That made Gorath a little better.
There's another chest here. Trapped... I'm feeling good from picking that other chest though.
Dammit!
Owyn is down and Gorath only has 19 hp left! We almost lost the game right here.
This is what we get for our trouble. NOT worth it.
Owyn drinks like 10 restoratives... it does not have as much effect as I had hoped.
A healing pack and like 20 hours of rest do not help much either. Its a wonder we have not been captured.
Owyn chugs a lot more restoratives.
Apparently they nearly removed the effect. He tries another healing pack.
By the time it wears off, we're back to full travel health. There's a door out of this room.
Its another one that requires that key - behind it is a fork.
With the rightmost's having a pit right in front of it.
And a door after a bit of walking.
Gorath takes care of it.
There are some kind of enemies ahead. Gorath reapplies the oil.
We surprise them!
Owyn freezes the first Ogre. It does 10 damage too.
Gorath thrusts at the one attacking Owyn. The enchanted blade does 73 damage.
Owyn swings and does 20 to the same ogre. He then gets hit for 13 by the other one.
Gorath does 73 to the other ogre.
Meanwhile Owyn finishes the first with a swing through parry for 21 damage.
And Gorath finishes the second one with a thrust for 77.
Gorath and Owyn rest up but last ogre comes alive and hits Gorath for 11.
Gorath retaliates for 73.
Owyn griefs the last ogre.
After they both rest up - Gorath finishes with a thrust for 80.
As if Ogres need more strength...
Doesn't strike me as a weapon for Ogres...
I'd be worried about the type of meat in those rations.
Only way out ends in a dead end.
After we backtrack - turns out this is a dead end too.
And here as well. That concludes this dungeon.
On the way back to the exit we try to pick that chest Gorath couldn't earlier. But after a bunch of attempts its still locked. At least Gorath gets even better.
And finally - we get to the exit.
Not quite sure why we'd die without drawing weapons. Why don't we just draw them in advance then?
First we charge ahead at the enemies in front of us.
Owyn takes the opportunity to frost bolt the witch.
Gorath misses with a swing.
Turns out that cast helped Owyn's skill a bit.
Owyn shows Gorath how its done by hitting with a swing through block - 15 damage.
Gorath lands a thrust for 46.
Owyn tries to finish but his swing misses.
Gorath switches targets and hits - but 43 is not enough to finish the injured moredhel.
Owyn finishes that moredhel with a poke for 11.
Gorath finishes the other with a thrust for 51.
Owyn rests up and Gorath one shots the witch for an unknown amount of damage.
A frost wand, that reminds me - I need to enchant Gorath's weapon.
I have no space so I just use one of its charges and leave the 1 charge wand on the body.
Not the most exciting of enemies.
At least this will replace the healing pack charges lost after that trapped chest...
Shortly after crossing a pit there's a 3 way intersection. We take the right path.
And not long after...
We see a gaggle of enemies up ahead.
Lets give them a nice surprise.
Owyn tries to put put down the hurt with a fully charged fireball but it misses!
Gorath hits with his frosty sword. It does 6something damage - the moredhel is still up.
Owyn launches a forst bolt charged with 10 hp - it hits and does 20 damage to one of the moredhel.
Gorath chases after a moredhel that is beelining for Owyn - he hits for 61 damage and this time its enough to kill the enemy.
Gorath then hits with a swing - 71 damage is NOT enough to finish the dark elf.
He follows it up with a finishing thrust for 66.
And then another one through block.
While Owyn rests - Gorath decides to practice archery. First shot lands for 38.
Second shot lands for 43 and finishes the battle.
More generic loot.
Looks like this fight could have gone worse.
You'd think he'd use that thing - not just carry it around.
Yeah, surprised we didn't get shot up with poisoned stuff in this fight.
Behind the enemies is a locked door.
Seems like this key is pretty standard in this place.
And there's yet MORE enemies behind the door.
We enchant Gorath's sword and go at em.
Owyn frost bolts first enemy. It also does 20 damage.
Gorath puts the first enemy down with a thrust for 67.
Owyn pokes the ogre for 13.
Gorath swings so hard at the ogre that the damage shows up as blue 117. Ogre goes down though. I think I enchanted Gorath's blade with the more powerful oil by accident.
Owyn swings and misses.
And so does Gorath.
Owyn's next swing is blocked.
And Gorath's thrust is parried. Owyn gets hit for 8.
This repeats for another 2 rounds before Owyn lands a swing for 16.
And Gorath lands a thrust for 92.
After Owyn rests up - Gorath finishes the last guy with a thrust for 90.
Ogres might want to invest in armor.
Heh, Gorath was hitting so hard I didn't even notice anyone being particularly tough. Must have been the first guy. Imaging investing 1+ k gold on an armor and you still get one-shotted.
More archers with poisoned quarrels.
At least the gold might help us if we ever get out of the north.
Past the room with the enemies - there's another 2 way split. We'll explore it next time.
Short session today as there's a vote at the end of it.
The hallway ends in a dead end but there's a door off to the side. Behind it is a room.
With a chest.
It is a puzzle chest. Its letters are:
TCKD
EHHO
CLOS
SAWT
Answer and loot:
The second set of letters gave it away.
Fairly random collection of items.
We head towards the other side of the fork.
And reach a room with some more enemies.
And we fail to sneak up this time.
Owyn nails the central ogre and burns everyone. Somehow... the ogre to his right dies from the area effect. Was it starved?
Moredhel hits Gorath for something while I'm distracted with the show.
Gorath lands a frosted swing on the moredhel. Only 54 damage and he's still up. Must be wearing some good armor.
Owyn JUST misses a frost bolt targeting the archer. Instead the archer hits him with an arrow that explodes and does 20 damage.
Gorath moves towards the archer and nails an ogre with a thrust for 66 on the way.
Archer shoots Gorath with a fire arrow for 18 damage.
Gorath hits the archer for 54 damage. Maybe frost enchantement is just mediocre?
Owyn tries to run away from the Ogres. Gorath finishes the archer with a thrust for 63.
One of the ogres catches up to Owyn and hits for 12.
Gorath finishes a moredhel warrior with a thrust for 51.
He then rushes to the Ogre attacking Owyn and finishes it with a hit for 85.
Owyn griefs the last ogre. Time to rest up.
After much resting - Gorath finishes the fight with a thrust for 72.
Gorath gets a bit better.
Still silly to imagine Ogres with rapiers.
Guess the moredhel DID have good armor.
Boring ogre.
I still think they should only have those on caster enemies.
More ogres.
There's a random chest and some unrelated bodies in this room without anything good. This was in the chest. Not sure what is going on in this room.
The hallways continues and... ends in stairs!
SO:
A. ) Get out of this place before the guards realize something is going on!
or
B. ) There's plenty of this level left. Maybe you'll miss some one of a kind item if you leave now!
A - I remember this dungeon actually being pretty small. It's nowhere near as big as the Krondor sewers. So you've probably played out most of it already. Also I don't like dungeons.
There is a problem with inappropriate loot being dropped sometimes, but I'm amazed it's not even worse. Every guy you can kill in the game has his own inventory. How in the hell did the developers keep track of everything with the technology of the time? You couldn't just run SQL Server off your PC back then. Were they using some big computer at the local university to run a sophisticated database or were they just really good at organizing stuff? One of those questions that I'm curious about but not enough to actually research it.

A work of love is manually crafted. This game is like a Ferrari - put together by a master. There used to a site where some dude mapped all the encounters and loot on each enemy. Think he might have even had their skills. Masterpieces attract other masterpieces.
Sergiu64 Started watching another LP and found out that you can right-click on the character portrait in the skills window and get a pretty long bio. Check it out.
