The game's going to be a hit, all drama notwithstanding. And I suspect Vavra doesn't plan to make any more games after this one anyway

Wouldn't be surprised if the original plan was to finish with Hussite Wars, but yeah nowadays he's probably more interested in grinding xp in sodomy.
Wait isn't this game about going to kuttenberg to collect money for the king, then Radzig get killed so you smite all evil hussite heretics?

He is ranting often about how annoying it is to develop big games when in the span of 6-7 years it takes to make one, he could make 5 movies. But imho if WH does Hussite game, he will want to be involved.
What is it with gamedevs always projecting their desire to make movies instead of video games?

Movies are cheaper to make than video games. All you need is a camera and some talent and you can make a movie. One of the best movies ever made was about 12 dudes in a room.

Im trying to be realistic here, ignoring all the memes, gay man and the black man of many controversies Musa.

>Will the game flop?
I dont think so. Game is on top 5 charts on consoles and always on top 20 on Steam (and this is just retards pre-ordering). They will probably sell about 2 million copies on the first month. (dont forget the game was made in Czechia, the budget is not bloated like your average AAA western studio: they dont need to sell as much to be profitable)

>Will the game have low player numbers on Steam?
I dont think so. It will probably double KCD1 peak numbers (96k players on release day) but it will probably drop really fast because normies will get filtered by the game (huge drop after maybe 2 weeks).

>Are Warhorse and Vavra fucked after KCD2?
It all depends on Embracer and how they perceive the game's success. They do love to shut down studios randomly tho, so I will never disregard the possibility of them nuking Warhorse for retarded corpo reasons.
It obivously also depends on how well the normie audience will receive KCD2: if normies like the "more approachable" way of KCD2, with more streamlined and simplified combat/general gameplay systems, Warhorse will have no problems in the future.

Yeah, even Veilguard’s initial reviews on Steam were positive and outnumbered the negative ones during release month. It took another month or two for it to drop to mixed, albeit the percentage straddled the line during that time.

This will definitely do well on its own, the problem for Warhorse is that their parent company is financially fucked so the question is if it will do well enough to pull them out of the hole.
Yeah
My exact thoughts: if something goes wrong, its going to be Embracer's fault/wrong doing
It'll be entirely Vavra and Warhorse.

This is an autistic, niche semi-"historical"(no longer) medieval RPG. It's not about normies because they'd have to completely change the game for that appeal, it's about how much their established audience puts up with. Warhorse obviously knows that or they wouldn't have hidden all the gay and nigger stuff behind NDAs. It would've been all over the marketing if they thought it would sell copies. Also, these things are never felt in the direct sequel. People look at names and logos. That reputation only last so long and Warhorse barely has it. Not exactly Blizzard that can survive entirely based on games from 20-25 years ago.

normies normies normies lol, it was always more normie game than what? hardcore? anything else. its first person action RPG to begin with, and normies enjoy survival elements probably more than y'alls, the amount of gameplay mechanics could be overwhelming but that's about it
KCD is a normie game if you compare to other games that you and mosts codexers enjoy... but for your average guy, KCD can easily be perceived as "hardcore" or "a game for autists".
Your expectations about what most normies enjoy and what normies can withstand for a game to not be a turn off are not realistic at all.
KCD is more normie than BG3 f.i. The big barrier for normies in the first game was general clunkyness and unintuitive combat and the dude that'll teach you it being too far into the game. Looks like they addressed both to some extend.
No, it isn't. Semi-historical simulationist medieval Bohemia is not appealing to normies whatsoever. Fantastical Marvel garbage is the most normie thing on the planet.

I think the current government, which was elected by the right-wingers to do right-wing things and instead joined up with leftists
Government prior to elections: "We are going to be the most leftist government imaginable, and we suck off globohomo whenever we can, this, we promise. Also we're totally rightwing lmao."
Tbh if you voted for them expecting anything even remotely right-wing, you're just retarded.

Games have been around for long enough now, immensely irritating that a lot of leading devs in Western studios still struggle with an inferiority complex relative to other mediums. Especially when it leads to them aping their inspirations; thence revealed as the most middle-brow, right-on dreck imaginable because they're over-educated in place of actually inspired.

No game developer who wants to make movies thinks of 12 angry men as movie though. They probably think of John Woo, John Wick, etc. Big explosion, quirky one liners and a moment of deep dialogue that will put a 16 year old on the edge of his seat. This is what they mean when they talk about movies. Hell Blair Witch project production cost were less than Vavra's gold nutsack...

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.

Yea especially considering if he was actually making movies he would probably drive a Ford Fiesta instead of a Bentley.

I didn't vote for them precisely because I didn't trust Fiala as far as I could throw him, but he did absolutely campaign on the "we will have zero tax increases and will make the state smaller" platform and many rightwingers bought it. Even Vávra was mildly optimistic about the election result, especially with Pirates getting totally cucked by STAN - but then it turned out STAN (or as I like to call them, SaTAN) are even worse! Most traitorous party in the parliament.

Vávra is first and foremost storyteller/writer/screenwriter. He makes games because he considers them superior to movies, yes, but the lenght of development really pisses him off (more and more the older he gets). I don't find it particularly surprising.

Did he? I mostly remember their posturing on climate and other bullshit. You can't build a "smaller state" if your platform is about incresing regulation and state oversight in everything. Oh well, they'll be gone this autumn, replaced by a more centrist kind of leftist who'll do the same thing as they but slower and gentler and whispering sweet nothings in our ears so that the assrape doesn't hurt so much.

STAN has always been a party specializing in stealing on the communal level, and decided to go up a level last election and steal right at the source. The party is crawling with mobsters, its relatively good PR crafted solely by trying to stay low profile compared to the other parties and marketing. Don't look for any ideology with them, their only interest is in infiltrating as many lucrative spots as they can.

IIRC he's been pretty open about wishing he were a movie director rather than a game dev. Maybe he'll try using his wealth for making a new movie. Maybe he'll even star in it driving his Bentley. But I doubt we'll see him make another game.

Oh yeah. Huge emphasis on it, there was a great compilation video with all the promises he made, going around twitter.

Likely.

Everytime I see a post on twitter I would categorize as treasonous, it is by someone from STAN. I think they have ideology, to fuck us over as much as possible. What you describe fits ANO more, imho. Babiš is just attracted to power and wealth, not ideology.

We'll see. I would like to see Hussite KCD, and also the unrealized Mafia script (reworked as new IP) someday.
But at least we will always have his epic facebook rants xD Just finished reading his scorched earth against Kořenář.

Which leads to games with a lot of cutscenes; I'd have enjoyed KCD1 much more with very few cutscenes in exchange for regular convos being much more expressive with more varied facial & body anims. You can have both with enough resources ofc but focusing on one will always make it much better. And cutscenes will most likely get skipped the next time you replay the game but you probably won't skip the regular convos with multiple choices. He is indulging his movie making desire in the expense of a better RPG, maybe not that much better but still better. But cinematic experience sells...so :M

It just means even more money spent on the marketing phase, which will be even harder to make back between the budget spent on the actual game and the damage done to pre-orders thanks to the leaks. So on that front, it's a good thing.
