There's Apocalypse Magic, Forgotten Magic and Dwemerverse, all should be compatible as they only add spells, not change existing ones. Not sure if they would be balanced, though. You might wanna fiddle with the magic sliders in MCM.

Also, another vital mod I'm not sure if I linked before.

No NPC Greetings

DESCRIPTION

For me, one of the most frustrating things in Skyrim is having an unrelated NPC speaking over the top of an important speech, just because they walked past you and decided to tell you about themselves. This mod stops all that, either by eliminating the chatter entirely or by reducing the distance required between the player and an NPC before they'll start talking to you outside of dialogue mode.

edit: decided to change the rules a bit. Requiem is set on the equivalent of "Legendary" difficulty from vanilla (added by Dragonborn), which means you deal 25% damage and enemies deal 300%. While taking huge damage is fun, it feels a bit ridiculous that my arcane bolts of pure energy can barely scratch a bandit's hide (it would be okay in vanilla settings, but Requiem makes armor a lot more effective). Think I'll fiddle with MCM and set a mix of Adept and Legendary, so I can cause normal damage and don't have to play exclusively as a pokemon trainer.

On the other hand, setting up impromptu monster fights is a lot of fun. Decided to lure a troll into the entrance of a draugr ruin, which was guarded by a Deathlord (at least, I assume it was a Deathlord because of the sillhouette I saw from afar - I'm not coming near those things any time soon). What I expected to be an epic battle for the ages didn't last 10 seconds, as the draugr soon got fed with this bullshit and FUSROHDAH'd the troll down the mountain. I'd go loot the body, but apparently there is a breed of Giant that inhabits forests now, so NOPE.

I thought the arcane bolt was supposed to be weak and meant to be used against enemy spellcasters with elemental wards (I'm not sure I've found any yet though...).

I think a Japanese version of Skyrim Voices.BSA works better than that. It also solves the issue of REST of the game's VA.

MCM?

Is there a spell called "Arcane Bolt"? I just used the term as a catch-all description for destruction spells . What I meant is that 25% damage is disgustingly weak if you're not investing heavily in crafting, which makes everything into a HP sponge (unless you're already level 1000 and one-hitting everything). While not being able to scratch an enemy adds to the tension, if I do fling a lighting bolt at someone's face I'd like to see their health bar go down a bit. Otherwise feels like I'm watching Dragon Ball Z.

MCM = Mod configuration Menu. Allows you to configure many mods in-game (as opposed to quitting and changing .ini settings), Requiem in this case lets you change game variables so you can make your own difficulty (for example, making it so both you and NPCs to cause 400% damage, so fights will be over quickly). Should be included with the latest version of SkyUI, but if you like the vanilla UI for some unholy reason you can use MCM standalone.

I have that, but Requiem isn't showing in the list of mods.

The Arcane Bolt spells (or Arcane something) is added by Requiem and is mentioned in the readme. I think it bypasses wards as well.

SkyRe is extremely balanced so far and he is incorporating Apocalypse Magic, so that should be balanced I guess?

Also: fuck my life if this game isn't tragically amazing modded. I never understood the "modders will fix it shit" until now. Just yesterday I had a genuinely frantic moment west of solitude where I was freezing to death and had to search like a madman for deadwood so I could light a fire. I just barely made it.

The only thing that's kind of sad with the new perk trees is there isn't that much reason to invest in Longbows and Shortbows, because even though the latter is better for close fighting in theory, if you dedicate yourself to one of the two you'll level it up so much that it will outshine the other.

@DraQ what was your highest level you've achieved in Requiem? All that talk about how supposedly balanced and well-crafted and thought out it is is very tempting, but I fear the game will become a breeze at >40 level (I'm the guy who likes a masochistic difficulty to be persistent, and it's a main problem with TES games, failing to provide high-level difficulties), plus backtracking with playing through all those quests again...

Also, you mentioned you can get 1/2 of all the perks. I don't like mages with heavy armor any more, so... Ahh :P

talking about desperate situations. so i just got out of blackreach, in which i lost my trusty packmule aka serana, to find out that first: i am an idiot and can't get am or pm straight, and second: non sparkly vampires better carry some blood potions with them to not get fucked by the blazing rays of the magnus hole. so yeah whatever, not like i take a massive hit to my attributes or anything, let's just keep trucking and hope nothing pops up. so of course a dragon gets on my case not 5 minutes after. so now i am playing fire-frost exchange ball, the rules are simple: get hit once and die, dragons starts cheating though. barely managed to bring him down to ~50% health before he finally got fed up with my WULD NA-ing and searched for a more fun opponent, which he found in a pair of giants one hill over. so i finally get some time to check out my shit, i think, however one of the giants apperantly took one too many on the head and instead of attacking the dragon came for me, so i WULD NA a bit more until the dragon finally decides to end this clown. jokes on him though, because while he and i were distracted by the giants, a three man band of dawnguard hunters came along and joined in. jokes on them, too, because he killed them with one fireball and then went back to exchanging blows with the giant. which was a bad idea, since tiny old me got his hands on a crossbow and bolts. so after the dragon killed off the giant, i took one shot, hit him in the ass and brought him down. so what do i get for running like a girl and hiding behind rocks for 15 minutes? nothing. the dragon soul absorbtion bugged out and i couldn't carry his delicious bodyparts.

the moral of the story is that women will desert you in your time of need and your accomplishments will go unrewarded.

also forgotten magic redone is pretty cool.

Can't speak for him, but currently level 30. Honestly, everything but the top-top level foes (centurions, upper levels of Deadra, but most annoying of all dragons), high level NPCs and the odd Gargoyle (who I can barely scratch) started falling quickly at level ~15 for me. Mind you I die in one hit if anything gets close and the boss fights are still pains.

"After commiting this mistake in previous games of the series, TES VIII has streamlined the gameworld, letting you see your objective in the horizon at all times. It feels so immersive to see a living world breathe this way, as opposed to a world connected by a series of loading screens and dotted with unnecessary gamey objects like houses, trees and rocks.

Duel - Combat Realism - Hardcore Version, or Ultimate Combat? For a rather pure mage, I may add.
Requiem.
:troll:

That will come with a Redguard sword-singer survivalist dude after I'll format the PC.
You do know that Requiem adds *MASSIVE* amount of awesome spells, right?

Btw, is that Redguard game decent? Is Kirkbride influence visible? Seems to be a completely different design philosophy.
Haven't played it, but it's different from other TES games.
For example it's not an RPG.

It is set in the universe, though, and does seem to be heavily influenced by Kirkbride.

Redguard is actually where the WEIRD shit really starts. While Daggerfall had some books, they were mostly flavor and history of the bay region. The Pocket Guide to the Empire feelie is where shit starts getting trippy

Managed to set it up working, good thing I didn't install that Windows 7 yet.

In case you're interested, Since I'm playing it, I as well may be doing a Let's Play of The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard in the meanwhile. Didn't see that one on that list. The combat mechanics seem simple enough to not make an impact in Screenshot LP format. Yes I know I was supposed to do a Dark Souls LP, but I lost all of my thousands of screens, each in BMP FORMAT I MIGHT ADD :x. I need a Fraps replacement that allows jpegs without paying them shit and doesn't crash in the middle of an LP, and then I'm good to go.

...

Here is the one LP I've done so far:

Fallout32012-05-3120-32-16-29.jpg

That writing

Tell me if you have any suggestions regarding the style of my writing, format, etc.

Ok, in all seriousness, is making an LP of walls of text with little in between make sense to begin with? Because now I have 4gb of screens of talking with a dozen people about my middle-aged sister evolving into massive lore-dumps.
