HW1 was about the exiles reclaiming their homeland, HW2 was about defending it and regaining great power status, that happened 21 years ago...Is time to close the chapter of that story and move on. 3 should have you play as the Taiidan or any other galactic council race.

Even if the franchise dies here we have stuff like Era One by the people who made the complex mod. Maybe it will be good, maybe crap but at least i don't have to put up with weird giantess fetish.

I completely agree with the sentiment, although if you ask me the story was really over after the first game, but there is one small little detail in your post that triggers me slightly and I'm not sure if you know or not. They did remove it in the "remaster", just like proper ballistics.

i don't mean to be overly melodramatic, but homeworld is - for a lack of a better word - part of my soul. i first played it when i was 8 or so and even then something about its story resonated with me, and its aesthetics, music, and atmosphere

i was sincerely expecting homeworld 3 to at least partially resemble what was shown in the original dust wars story documents. i had no idea that the story would be a literal, deviantart oc donut-tier story that does not get what homeworld *is* at all

homeworld is partially responsible for forming a good amount of my tastes; paul ruskay is pretty much responsible for turning me into an ambienthead, and it has also given me a good internal filter to gauge how good a story can be, and what merits to judge an story with. seeing homeworld 3 with its absolute dogshit story was probably the most mentally exhausting thing i've seen in ages

i lurked the relicnews forums for years too - a lot of people there pumped out great stuff. i can only wonder what kind of threads would be on there now if it was still alive

Storyfag, it shouldn't make you think, it should make you angry. In the original game you could play as the Taiidan and take back Hiigara from the Kushan scum. They removed this in the remaster/remake so newfags to the series would be weirded out by the switch.



It changes dialogue and units available. Makes you feel bad for people that got scammed by Gearbox.

i didn't expect the excellent summary of what went wrong with Homeworld 2's development in your thread, that was a great read

as for why i was expecting Homeworld 3 to have an actually decent story - i actually really like Deserts of Kharak; even though it's not quite on the same level as Homeworld 1's story, i thought it was an excellent military science fiction/road trip story that felt grounded and and believable - and i could actually see things from the main villain's perspective too (because he's right, just not in the way he thinks)

i can't see things at *all* from the main villain's perspective in Homeworld 3; she's.. just... angry... for reasons, also she has all these devastating powers but never uses them against you fully. why? i don't know - it's hyperspace magic, i guess. this is provided with zero prior context besides "lol DA PROGENITORZ" or whatever

Kharak hit all the right story beats, graphics and sounds to be a homeworld game. It why I was looking forward to this as well, at least until I tried the demo from a few months ago -then I knew something had gone very wrong. I had no idea they'd been captured by ((woke)) consultancy.

That's not really how it works, there are woke consultancy mafias going around the industry doing shakedowns, that's true, but the reason it works at all is because investment is "woke" in the first place. We all know about (((Larry Fink's))) infinite money hacks and what he uses that for, I'm not sure that money is involved here but it probably is. Here's why you should have known better though, first of all it was published by Gearbox, a known activist company, that is owned by Embracer, I don't know what policies they have but I don't have to take a wild guess, without looking anything up I already know they must have some DEI company wide policy.

On the other end of the stick though you must realize that game development studios aren't as independent as they used to be. Blackbird is located in Vancouver and this isn't because those Canadians are mysteriously more talented than say Americans or other Canadians, it's because the place gives you gibs for opening up a studio there. Now what sort of attachment do you think dev gibs comes with in a place like Canada under the Trudeau regime? You know, the same people that want White Canadians to enter into the Canadian Healthcare self-termination chambers?

This also extends to trade associations, if you want to recruit new talent it must be black, gay and retarded. In the credit section posted by Black earlier they gave special thanks to DigiBC, one such local trade association, and they're taking part in all sorts of shit from the Canadian government, like this initiative.

The only reason the DEI shakedowns work is because there is no free market and capital is, frankly, jewish and anti-White, and Western governments are capitalism's bitch and push whatever the bankers tell them to push. State and capital working together in a form of reverse fascism, instead of finance serving the state it's the other way around, and finance has agendas and goals. The DEI consulting groups are the enforcers, there to make sure their commissars are overlooking all new big projects in the industry, like how the Chinese require party members to be present on corporate boards in their nation.

I have worked my entire career to stamp out the behaviour recently brought to light at Blizzard/Activision. I have worked my entire career to lift up women and marginalized people in the games industry and to bring more of them into this industry. This is what we do, women and marginalized folks in this industry. Every. Single. Day.

At every studio I have worked at I have experienced outright sexism, systemic sexism and either experienced myself or witnessed sexual harassment.

I worked on and openly make fun of my laugh. It was too loud, too shrill for their liking. No one told them to stop.

At this same company a very senior man slapped and groped my butt at the company Christmas party in full view of multiple co-workers. When I complained to his manager I was told he had a drinking problem and I shouldn’t be “so harsh”. This man is even more senior now and still works there.

I have spent SO MUCH time educating folks about what inclusion looks like and why they should care.

There is a tax to being a woman in this industry that white cis men do not experience. It is exhausting and I am exhausted and so is every other woman and marginalized person in this industry.

Nowhere in there does she mention actually making video games, improving upon video games, etc. she’s just bitching and acting as if it’s so tough sitting in an office for 40 hours a week and only working 10. She isn’t a gamer, doesn’t like games, and isn’t interested in actually making cool video games, she’s more concerned with trannies and “cis white males”. She is PART of the problem when it comes to modern games.
