Is Saints Row 2 actually similar to San Andreas? Because that's what GTA4 lacked - all of the character and fun of San Andreas. I would enjoy another SA.
It's not as story focused as SA was, but most of the characters introduced so far have been pretty good. Though I've only been going after one of the gangs so far, the Brotherhood gang, haven't met all other characters. Also, whereas GTA4 tried to be more realistic, most of the missions in this game are just fun over-the-top arcade action, much like some of the missions in SA.

Not as many filler missions as the first SR either. Far less strongholds to take over, more unique missions.

Well I preordered Far Cry 2 and now I just bought the X3 pack on steam that has both X3 games, because it was 50 dollars, and I can't just forget about how cool I thought X2 was when I wasn't bored and confused.

Also, devs are funny. :)

Is it just me or is Papa Neverbleed not particularly picky?

He's just a serial rapist.

Do they have the same human father or something?

For awhile here at Obsidian we had a PnP DnD campaign going. Our DM was actually REALLY good and he would reward creative role-playing. For example, when the campaign started, he said write up your character's history and background for bonus xp.

So the story me and and another guy came up with was (short version) human female and elf male get married. They have a half-elf kid. The human mother gets raped by an orc when their village gets attacked - elf father gets killed. human mother gives birth to half-orc. Half-elf kid gets a little crazy and chaotic, while the half-orc kid gets tutored by a local monastery. Half-elf becomes a barbarian, half-orc becomes a monk, both become bodyguards where they are recruited by Father Oswyn (Josh Sawyer's character) to guard him. Kharne was also in our game, a dwarven wizard that focuses all his spells and feats on crafting things.

That is the brief version, but the DM did a real good job of working everyone's backgrounds into the campaign.

So yeah, there ya go.

That may not be a bad thing. The base of SA's plot was pretty ludicrous given what the game was about.

Since FC2 is out of the question, and AOD isn't coming out until Thursday of next year, then Saints Row 2 might not be such a bad idea. I need some worlds to explore.

Far Cry 2 looks so much better than Dead Space. Open environments, best sound effects since Fallout, non-linear story (hopefully) compared to a horror shooter where it takes 10 or more seconds to kill a single enemy.

And then people say stuff like: FUCKING BETHESDA RUINING OUR RPGS! I HOPE THESE FUCKERS GO BANKRUPT !!1!!!11

Yet most people here will give them more money so they can continue to rape us. YAY!

Ironic, isn't it? They're the "first to (rightfully) bitch, first to buy" crowd, it's as if they're trying to ensure they have something to complain about in the future.

Just as a point of curiosity, why is it that Orcs seem to love raping humans in high fantasy?

Because the first writers of high fantasy were racist white supremacists (look at Robert E Howard). The orcs represented the subhuman black man, and the pervading belief among many such 1920s racists was "darker people are attracted to fairer people and not vice versa".

I have no idea. The source books often state examples that Half-Orcs are the products of rape and violence and so that is what Adam and I went with.

C'mon, that's easy. The creators of fantasy worlds often base fictional races on aspects of humanity if not human races directly.
I think the classic orc is the embodiment of the concept of demonizing opponents in a war. Inherently evil, somewhat less human brutes who rape and pillage.

The moment they will include physics, interesting space sectors and beam weapons together with cap-ship battles using them I will call this game the best space sim EVAR.
But ah wtf I will get it anyway.

This week: Saints Row 2 (coming out tomorrow)
Next week: Little Big Planet on Wednesday, Dead Space and Far Cry 2 on Thursday.
Next week +1: Fallout 3 and maybe Manhunt 2 if it's cheap.

Saints Row 2 seems to be GTA:SA on crack, which can only be a good thing. GTA4 got stale real fast, so I need something with more substance.

I haven't really been following Little Big Planet all that closely, but it sounds sort of fun, I suppose. Puzzley platformers are always neat.

bla bla bla
