Far Cry 2 will have securom YAY

Some DRM points that will hopefully answer some of your questions and will clarify some misunderstandings about our DRM and SecuROM:

- You have 5 activations on 3 separate PCs.

- Uninstalling the game “refunds” an activation. This process is called “revoke”, so as long as you complete proper uninstall you will be able to install the game an unlimited number of times on 3 systems.

- You can upgrade your computer as many time as you want (using our revoke system)

- Ubisoft is committed to the support of our games, and additional activations can be provided.

- Ubisoft is committed to the long term support of our games: you’ll always be able to play Far Cry 2.

God dammit.

Edit:
What about the Steam version? Will it have install limits as well?

To answer my own question regarding the install limits of Far Cry 2 and Steam:

Does DRM actually increase the sales of any game (by limiting pirates)? We need some cold hard evidence, cuz' I don't see any.

I mean all this raping in the ass of your customers, for what?

EDIT: Oh yeah, looking forward to Left 4 Dead and Far Cry 2. I should buy Witcher:EE too because I haven't already.

Writing was taken over by DC. The bad news is that they put Palmiotti on the job....
Gameplay itself seems to be the PS2 era MKs on steroids. Heavy steroids. The most EXTREME I've heard is someone saying it's easily his second favourite fighting game (the bad news is that the favourite is Capcom vs Marvel 2....
Only the fact that the animations have a lot of the same ones from the previous MKs is a letdown, since a lot of them don't fit DC characters at all...

I checked out some gameplay videos and the DC characters not only look like crap, they have those MK stances. Essentially, they're MK characters with DC skins. So, the game is a favorite of the MVC2 crowd, and resembles MK from the last console generation. It also doesn't have the Green Arrow, Aquaman, or Plastic Man.

Yea... I'm probably going to pass on this one.

I don't think I'll be buying many games as school is keeping me busy. Basically, I'm only looking forward to NWN2: Storm of Zehir and Tomb Raider: Underworld for the rest of this year.

TR:U - my most anticipated game of the year. :D

Nope. In fact, it's made a pirate out of me. I've been looking forward to FarCry 2 like crazy, but now that it has Securom, the demo will probably have it on there too, and I'll have to resort to checking out the torrents and not physically removing it from an inventory to see what the game is about. It's a shame, really.

Also, it's not DRM that's the problem, it's the type of DRM, specifically the Securom type. CD checks and keys are a type of DRM that are perfectly acceptable. Starcraft used a cd key and cd check. Oblivion and Fallout 3 use simple CD checks.

Yea, like I said, it's a shame they recycled so many animations.

At least the characters have a chance of being DLC.

And Elongated Man is totally better than Plastic Man.

An open world shooter. How are they going to cut it off?

Dead Space is a possible.

You mean Obsidian or Atari doesn't even give you a free copy of the game you helped make?

You mean you aren't sick of looking at it after all these months?

Of course they do. I still buy a copy of every game I've worked on.

SoZ is not boring at all. As a matter of fact, I got down right pissy today when they made me stop playing it to fix a bug.

(Yesterday and Today were supposed to be play days)

I have my party:

Grubs Neverbleed (Half Orc Monk)
Jiminey Neverbleed (Half-Elf Barbarian/Fighter)
Kharne (Dwarven Wizard)
Father Oswyn (old ass human cleric with 18 int)

Big time fun and role playing going on in my noggin.

I still can't believe I'm the only one looking forward to Saints Row 2, seems a lot like San Andreas with the amount of crazy activities.
Bought this game yesterday actually. Been pretty damned fun so far, has the arcadish action that GTA 4 lacked. It's a good game as long as you don't take shit in it seriously.

Favorite mission so far is the one where you dress up as a cop and go around the city with a camera man and other cops slaughtering steroid junkies with chainsaws, beating up feuding families with a metal baseball bat, and setting protesters on fire with a flamethrower on live national television.

Is Saints Row 2 actually similar to San Andreas? Because that's what GTA4 lacked - all of the character and fun of San Andreas. I would enjoy another SA.

By cutting off a section of it for a demo.
