They're ultimately not such comparable games even though they share a lot of elements. WoW is basically about endgame raiding, FFXIV is first and foremost a story-driven game that happens to have that same kind content (among much else).

i.e. comparing it against WoW or vice-versa doesn't really prove any useful points; and the only reason we keep having this futile conversation is it ended up being the refuge of many ex-WoW players when that game happened to go to shit. in some sense the "WoW-killer" meme finally came true, but in a truer sense Blizzard themselves killed WoW and FFXIV was just a good MMO to attract those looking for a new home.

WoW armor is indeed retarded, but I meant in WoW at least you can jump into the game after a short intro and start playing. In FF14, theres a huge ass intro/tutorial section, and everybody keeps talking for hours.... It's the same problem with over-exposition as in single player RPGs, I just entered your world, I don't give a shit about all these details right now, let me play and work my way into the lore organically.
Wow has no content that revolves around a cycle of level-up gearing up to do raids to then become unrelevant in everything you do the moment the new expansion drops. In fact, is hard to find people that will do the earlier raids for the simple fact that the rewards are useless. Not only that but is also very poor in content and often the game time gates you making you do menial hours grinding for farming rep or other things in order to be able to make the 10 quests necessary to finish the expansion. Not only that but when an expansion is released is often just a patch that ends to be continued sometime months after the release many times those patches bring things that are hated by the community.

Wow lore is a mess there is no continuity is a bunch of raving lunatic writings that gets totally retconned every time an expansion drops. Character that are villain and psychopaths turns good because they simply were manipulated (Sylvanas). Villains often have the depth of a Micheal Bay movie antagonist (Deathwing, The jailer, and so on and so forth).

The economy is borked by the fact players can buy a wow plex and simply sell the plex on the market as a mean to make gold instantly making the game not only sub based but also pay to win. This leads the item prices to inflate a lot leaving the ones that just play the game normally have to farm months to get a little piece of gear they want from the market. Worth mentioning that unlike ff14 (where you have a truly working economy and a great crafting system) the only mean to farm gold in wow is just farming mobs forcing players to do rotations for hours in order to kill many mobs as possible.

You talk about exposition where there isn't honesty. Is just that the game lore in ff14 in regard to the setting is HUGE. You have 2 manuals of 300 pages that they sell if you want and i have them both. FF14 has dialogues and it plays like an RPG every quest has dialogues and very often cutscene is not a game in which you can just run from one NPC to another skipping everything and rushing for end content there is no need for that. You start to do meaningful content the moment you play the game. Unlike wow where for doing content you have to rush to the max level and the content offered is meaningless and pointless.

The only objective thing that wow has better of FF at the moment is pvp in form of open world pvp and mounts handling with the Dragonflight expansion (even if those mechanics are Copied from Guild Wars2) also wow is not less railroaded than FF14 in fact is even worse.

That's absurdly wrong.

Btw, it's not like FFIV caters to some high brow market. If the only thing WoW did better was PvP, FFIV would have killed WoW by now.

To be honest, MMOs effectively "selling gold" themselves is the only way I've seen them really get a hold on that shit. RS and EVE do the same, I mean.

Only company i can think of trying something different is Battlestate Games, and that's barely the same genre beyond "lots of people"; not even clear they're winning at that.

No really even the big wow streamers spoke about it.
Then it would be easy to provide a link to someone saying

You tucked that in to praise FFIV and just didn't realize what absurdity you typed right?

Even this part
leaving the ones that just play the game normally have to farm months to get a little piece of gear they want from the market.
is wrong unless by "little piece of gear" you mean highest tier raid drop during races.

1) Write wow plex in youtube.

2)ffxiv has indeed at working economy crafing is also viable and a big part of it and you dont even need to sell high tier stuff for it to become profittable for istance just yesterday i sold a stack of silver bars a marerial that can be extracted around lvl 30 miner and is sold a lot well in the market. I got 950.000 gils in an hour of gathering. Not only that but crafting skills are complementary this mean a weaver could had need of refined leather in order to make a piece of gear that will get in to the market sold by some leatherworker is easy to spend and gain in that system.

3)Even worse for raid gear. This make the system even more pay to win one gets a couple of plex and dont even need to do raid that are the only content wow offer.

Why would you pay for gear in wow? You can get everything you need from mythics, and if you are not good enough to get it you dont need it because the only point of gear in wow is to do higher versions of the same dungeons. So even if the economy is fucked why would you need it?

one gets a couple of plex and dont even need to do raid that are the only content wow offer.

exactly.

the point about gear always was getting it and being happy you had it (by playing not buying). They already destoryed that by making a gazillion versions of the same fucking item through mythic levels so the only thing more insane than paying to get items that are absolutely worthless even for ones own enjoyment of the game is crying about an economy that may be fucked by tokens but offers absolutely nothing of real interest in the first place.

the only downside to a fucked wow economy I can think of maybe the fact that nobody takes you into any content at the appropriate gear level since evryone is buyng gear and boosts so they expect you to outgear the content you want to play, but again, why would you do that?

its the same in FF14 of course but theres, as far as I know, far more fluff rto be had and people seem to care about dressup and housing.

The point is wow has not a relevant economy aside from gear and yet people pretends the game had an economy. I could do a dozen of examples of stuff one can make in a mmo to have a cool experience.

Yesterday i were about to do a very difficoult raid in 14 i wanted a bit of extra help so i resirted in very calibrated mrals that gave specific bonus stats. The marked at them but of normal quality since those are usually sold i stacks. I asked to my friend and she brought me in a place. A player opened a bakery to do this meal on commission i went there he did cooked this in front of me and then i paid him. So i had my meals for the raids and he had the gils i paid. But there are plenty of examples like this even for smithing alchemy jewel making and so on so forth there are people that actually open stores where you can order stuff and they will work in commissions buying raw or refined materials from other players.

1. why would I start searching for something that doesn't exist?
2. you didn't play wow right?
3. you clearly didn't ...

We all know FF14 is just a really complex ERP chatroom. Sure there's Goldshire in WoW but you're a lot more limited in your choice of outfits and boob size.
