What translation is better quality, english or polish? Idk which one to install. Are both machine translated?

I played Polish and it's ok. There are a few dialogues hard to understand, but overall you will be able to follow the goal.

It's definitely much better than the first ATOM RPG translation ;) .

I'm going to urge people to use the ChatGPT translation*, as well, as it's far better than the Yandex one. I haven't noticed any spelling or syntax mistakes, only a few cases of ambiguous wording and using the wrong gender for things (e.g. referring to fire as "he"). There are also a few ERROR messages I've noticed so far, such as when finishing the main quest for Mr. Kogan(after making the deal), which is a bit more unfortunate.

I've only played as far as Garage City, but it's pretty clear this mod is a step forward in classic Fallout modding. World building, consistency, graphics, all seem better than previous mods I've played. It's absolutely SHAMEFUL that this thread has less engagement than the Amazog TV show's, but that's just the Codex for you.

More significantly, it's a step forward in classic Fallout mechanical gameplay. I've found plenty of use for Science and Repair and even my high Sneak has been pretty useful. Some traits have been balanced, which is good. Getting EXP for carrying out a successful conversation is an excellent idea.

My main gripe so far is the high encounter rate. I've had 3-4 encounters in very short sequence, which is annoying and trivializes other sources of EXP. I haven't found any companions, yet, but maybe that's because I have a low CHA and Speech chararcter. If I do a replay, I'll definitely go with a talky type.

I'm still on the fence regarding factions, NPCs and dialogue. My impression so far is positive; there's a lot of subtlety in characterization and interwoven plotlines. Garage City is like a more fleshed out(and better) version of Junktown. Apart from that, I don't think the two main factions were made distinct enough, to the point where I felt more or less equally towards both. Maybe something was lost in translation, or maybe I haven't adjusted to the mod's vision yet.

I'll post more impressions when I'm finished with the game.

* EDIT: I've come across more error messages in my playthrough. Like a previous poster noted, they're mostly formatting errors like missing brackets and can be easily fixed with a bit of regex fu. In the case of missing lines, I just copy pasted from the Yandex translation. I'll be posting the fixes as I go along, here:

Awesome! I did a fresh re-install, seems we finally got the full version in English!

EDIT> slightly confused about step 6 below... so is it fine to run fallout2-ce.exe ? -( seems optional to use FSonara.exe) :S

  1. Download and install Fallout Sonora
  2. Download and unpack Dayglow DLC into the install directory of Fallout Sonora, created above
  3. Download your OS version of Fallout 2 CE and put it in the install directory of Fallout Sonora, created above
  4. Download the .zip file named sonora_eng_DLC_script.zip and unzip it in the install directory of Fallout Sonora
  5. Change the language setting of the fallout2.cfg file to ‘english’
  6. Click ‘Fallout II Community Edition’ (for macOS and windows and linxu) to play the game
Optional - if on windows, Fallout2.exe may be dropped into the install folder to play the game, or rename patch000.dat to patchDLC.dat and use FSonora.exe or FSonoraDLC.exe to run the game. Only FSonora.exe or FSonoraDLC.exe will give the correct game start

Ah word?
So you're saying the Extended version from last year, has the same translation, patch etc. as this new build?

From NMA;
1. sonora_eng_DLC_script.zip -
"patched" version, is used with a vanilla install of Fallout: Sonora and Dayglow DLC, and will also improve the dialogues, quests, and several aspects of gameplay through script fixes. This is the recommend version.

Extended version definitely runs alot better for me. The resolution is more optimal.

Any tried to patch or add the latest translation to the Extended version?

I've been trying to download the game via the magnet link in rutracker but the link seems to be completely inert. Created an account and everything..... Anyone else having an issue?

Edit: I was able to get it easily enough using the torrent. The magnet link still doesn't work for me.
