I’m gonna check the possible issue with Georg’s translation and get to the merge, but it’s not going to happen until Sunday at the very least (unless Violator chimes in and does it himself before).

So I started this mod finally a few days ago. Really enjoying it so far, just got to pheonix after mucking around san bhramin(sp?) a bit. Just a few questions about quests for anyone who has finished it. Haven't committed to helping the tribals form an alliance with the rangers yet, wanted to take a look at pheonix first and did a wild caravan escort run.

So I rescued my madre from flagstaff, I returned to the villa and got a quest to find chris. I spoke to his little brother, no dice even with 95 speech

- Where is chris in the villa

- I got a quest to kill an infidel for the church in flagstaff, something about burning stuff at night but I wait till dark nothing happens, talked to everything still nothing. So what gives with this quest?

Only other question, is inferno the dlc area?

Not to be annoying and ping people but Ol' Willy and Lord_Potato are usually helpful with fallout mods. If you guys know that would be great, I usually like finishing all quests in an area before moving on obviously this stuff is pretty small potatos(no pun intended) but I'm still curious. I spent like 20 minutes looking for chris all over the villa.

I’m merging all your improvements to the main branch, much appreciated :salute:

Nothing is priority in that we’re not actively developing the translation anymore, it only gets updated when someone wants to chime in with their efforts or report a bug, so contribute inso far as you feel comfortable doing so.

I don’t understand what you mean about sonoradlc. There’s master.dat, and dayglow_dlc.dat, which is where all the text files go. What you’ve been doing, submitting them to master.dat/text/russian/dialog/ is correct. There aren’t duplicates for anything, what you updated there is what will be reflected in the game.d
Can you merge all the current pull requests because I learned just now that I can just download the repository, edit and then do 1 pull request instead of a 100.
I think I acidentaly broke something I suspect that its most likely something in text/game. I get failed to initialize error with the newest files and 2 other people in fallout sonora discord report the same issue.

I think Chris should be somewhere obvious in the villa if I remember correctly.
Idk about the infidel quest since I too struggled to complete that quest.

Inferno is not DLC area. Dayglow is the only DLC location it was in previous versions.

IDK I looked everywhere I could think for like 20-30 minutes in all 4 maps including the cellar, couldn't find him. If you know where he is I would appreciate if you just let me know, normally I don't like spoilers of obvious solutions but at this point I'm just going to ignore the quest otherwise.

It was a while since I played Sonora

Chris is hiding in some kind of ruined building. IIRC there is a kid who smuggles food to him

For infidel I am not sure, he is supposed to show at night near the house of priest

So I played and beat this and figured I would give some thoughts and opinions.

It's a good mod but clearly weaker then nevada or 1.5. Easily stronger then olympus 2207.

Strong points are
good weapon progression, until the end when there is no weapon progression
good armour progression although weird. I ended up using metal armour for probably 50-60% of my total game time before finding power armour. Didn't find combat armour until I was almost done the game.
easier economy then nevada or 1.5, but still harder then fallout 1/2
the plot, without giving any spoilers is genuinely interesting and multi layered even with a machine translation. This is easily the best part of the game imo.
4 companions which is cool
factions are mostly interesting but may be too morally grey.
side quests and main quest always offer multiple solutions

weak points
no end game, way too easy and definitely a letdown. Either the BOS or Rangers should have been made way stronger to at least have some type of fight(even if stealth was still an option)
no late game weapons, which is ok for game balance since aside from a lone deathclaw here or there or the mexican army in metal armour there's essentially no challenge.
To expand on this I found
1 flamethrower and barely any ammo for it
a grenade launcher, which kind of sucked so I didn't use it much
2 regular miniguns not including the ones in dayglow
some type of LMG type machine gun I basically never used
sniper rifle, found one and another for sale
some type of super combat shotgun thats weaker then h&k caws or pancor jackhammer
plasma pistol
Some end game bos guys had plasma rifles but I never found them anywhere else
laser rifles

No gauss or pulse rifles, no better miniguns, no rocket launcher, ect.

Even the BOS has a grand total of 6 dudes in power armour, and you fight 3 of them 1 at a time if you kill them. Honestly even the fallout 1 end game, or lost hills in fallout 1 put up a much better fight
The dayglow dlc sucked ass. It only took me like 3 hours to do but so much pointless running around. Not going to bitch about the 20 pound weight limit, that ended up being the most fun part of the dayglow. Trying to find new gear.
half the companions suck. I don't mean they're annoying or they have dumb quests I mean they actually suck ass. with the exception of the brotherhood paladin, and the scientist guy. The spy and followers girl make katya from fallout 1 look like an all star.
I thought the inferno area was genuinely annoying

Honestly IMO the game needed another major city. Basically the gameworld consists of like ~10 towns roughly the size of the den or modoc with a few wilderness areas tacked onto them. With the exception of pheonix, which is much smaller then any of the major cities in nevada or 1.5 in terms of content.

garage, flagstaf, san bhramin, casa nueva, casa grande, tu san, platform, the sacrifice village, ect. These are all small areas, well designed to be fun enough but I felt like the game was missing that mega city.

the hub from fallout 1
new reno from nevada and fallout 2
sedit in 1.5

IMO either pheonix wasn't nearly big enough, or there needed to be another major city in the game.

For some reason I wasn't able to take the perk that lets you play past end game? I'm pretty done with sonora so I don't mind but not sure why I couldnt take it.

The game was also too easy imo, not enough hard fights at all.

I would rank the fallout mods

1.5 > nevada >> sonora >>>>> olympus

in terms of difficulty including original fallout games

1.5 >>> fallout 2 >>nevada >olympus > fallout 1> sonora

Overall 100% worth playing for any fan of the original fallout games craving more, but imo inferior to nevada in every way except the plot. Nevada had a retarded plot lol.

Just a standard guns/talker build

7
7
4
7(raised to 8 for 4th companion)
8
10
4

Something like that, with small guns big guns and speech, with gifted and bloody mess to speak spanish(which turned out to be basically useless). Also raised repair science lockpick doctor, roughly in that order.

I never bothered with outdoorsman so I ended the game at level 24. Although keep in mind the encounter rate is insane, not as bad as fallout tactics but bad.

Also I found the motorcycle to not be that useful. It only carries one companion but even worse the fuel for it is only sold in tu sun and they only sell enough for like a 40% charge at a time. Ended up just walking everywhere with my gimp crew eating all the xp on the way.

I installed the Sonora from GitHub, but it seems the opening slide captions are still in Russian.

Yep, we plan to have Ron Pearlmans AI voice intro, death slides and the ending slides and then release it all at once. Will probably release a file that changes the intro from russian to english in the meantime.

I tried to install update 1.7 from Github but it seems Dayglow_DLC.dat folder is empty.

I just checked on the git and everything is in its proper place. Perhaps try downloading it again.

I don't know if I did something wrong, but the random ghouls in Phoenix's power plant only spew out the word "error" when you try to talk to them, the ones related to the quest are fine though. The same problem happens when you ask the casino's manager about the Don

Files for the Casino Manager look fine to me. Give that, I presume your other errors must stem from a faulty installation. Backup your saves and download/install the game again. If the problems persist, share your save file with us at the location with the issues so that we may confirm what’s going on.

It's alright, it didn't ruin the playthrough or anything so I put up with it and finished the game. Still, I have a question regarding the casino. How do I start the Casino's Don quests? I got the approval of the casino's manager but the Don keeps telling that he has nothing for me, I even went back right before finishing the game and he still gave me the same response.

A few months ago, I undertook a translation project for Fallout Sonora using ChatGPT and then editing the rough edges with hand. I wasn't satisfied with the existing translations of the mod. I haven't checked Fic_Mon improvements yet, but I decided to upload my version regardless. It's not in DAT format; rather, it's extracted in folders.
You still need AdolfSatan version because I only translated the dialogues. Simply overwrite his files with mine.

Sadly, Don's quests were cut and probably never will be implemented.
