So does Fire Emblem Fates run on citra? Aside from Rune Factory 4, thats pretty much the only game I really want an emulator for.
Fates I understand, but why RF4?

As far as I know, it got a digital only release in the European region around the same time as SMT4.

I must have my farm fantasy dating sim.

Because it is great. I have 60+ hours in RF4 and is fun as hell.
Didn't like RF3 or RF2 bt RF4 is great.

I think it has to do with weird english type of humor in game and despite its animu artstyle it feels a lot like gag comedy.

Shitload of things to do also help.
RF4 is like disgaea of farming games.

I've played RF4 and I've probably clocked close to 200 hours.
I want to know why he wants to play it in an emulator instead of a 3DS - unlike Fates it wasn't censored to hell and back.

Yeah, plenty of 3DS games will look a lot better in proper resolutions not from 20 years ago. Especially something like Bravely Default which has rather nice assets for a portable JRPG, for example. I just hope sound won't be a problem in the long run.

I tried some retroarch menafen saturn last night, but my FX 6350 can only manage 45 FPS in some games :negative: . This is the only pre-360 system I can't emulate well above full speed. Guess Christmas might be new computer time (want to see how Zen turns out first).

(I'm also having trouble finding good isos for some games).

I've also been spending way to long tracking down box art, and making game themed borders for 4:3 systems.

In other news every new AMD driver seems to break Vulkan and/or DX12 in different ways.

Enough about 3DS. You can now play Kenka Banchou 3 (the one released in English) on PPSSPP on the latest SVN!

:incline:

edit: Completed both the opening and ending, both of which were kill screens on previous versions of PPSSPP.

An Intel i5 build will run every emulator under the sun at 60fps if it's capable of such, including all Mednafen systems. I'd recommend grabbing a 4690 when you get the chance. Depending on where you're located, they're around $200 but I'm not sure what other components you may need. I'm on an older 4670k with a small overclock to 4.2ghz and every emulator, even while running FRAPs to record, never dips below full speed. AMD rigs are emulator cancer, stay away from their shit cpu's as your 45fps can attest.

I have to give Zen a chance, and this is the only emulator it's struggled with at all.

Also I haven't played any Saturn games in 20 years, I can wait another 4 months.

could someone do me a huge favor?

desmume runs elminage 2 "NDS remix" edition (the only edition of the game for NDS) at 15 fps for me when walking around the dungeons, and during battles runs between 20-30 fps.

this is weird because the NDS version of elminage 1 runs perfectly at 100% speed; anyway what i'd like is if someone else downloaded a .rom of elminage 2 nds remix and replied here what fps they get.

normally i would google such a thing but literally no one else in the planet has played this game on the NDS apparently other than myself so if i don't ask someone to do it here on this thread i will never know whether or not the game runs like crap on desmume or if it is simply my crappy cpu.

you can simply google "nds remix elminage 2 .rom" to get it and it is 50-60mb rom.

(game is in japanese; the point of me whining about its performance in desmume is because the NDS version would be easier/faster for me to begin translating into english than the PSP version of the game, which is the version i'm currently working on in my spare time. the PSP is a nightmare to romhack in comparison to NDS games.)

I have an html file that contains clickable links to every proper DS dump if anyone needs it.

Just tested Elminage 2 Remix. Was lucky to even make it to a dungeon trying to navigate the Japanese menus but thankfully it was set up like the old Wizardries. Everything was fine, in and out of battle. My fps never once dipped below 60. I tested with RetroArch using Desmume core, I was even able to fast forward at over 200fps with no problems. As mentioned a couple posts ago, this is on an Intel i5 4670k. I never have any performance issues in any emulators unless I try to do something crazy like setting Dolphin to 8x internal res.

thank you very much!

it is nice finally knowing it is simply my amd cpu from 2011 to blame. in contrast to the psp version of the game the NDS romhacking community has created tools like Tinke which allow someone to decompress and extract the majority of the game files and then recompress and repack the game .rom in a matter of minutes; this is practically unheard of when working with a psp game.

for example, elminage 2 has 600+ items (weapons, armor, consumables, quest triggers, etc) and all of them are in one single .CSV file called simply ITEMS.CSV. this file is packed inside of the compressed archive ITEMCSV.BIN in the PSP version, and ITEMCSV.BIN is packed inside of ETC.BIN. lacking any way outside of writing my own QuickBMS scripts (one script for extraction and a second script for insertion) the only way to begin translating these 600+ items is to open the ETC.BIN inside a Hex Editor and work inside a hex environment.

in the NDS version it is a different story due to the community's efforts (i.e. software like Tinke) which allows you to simply open up the game .rom and decompress the .BIN the contains the .CSV files (the ETC.bin in this case) and after decompression then Tinke allows extraction of all of the files, which you can edit inside any software that can handle a .CSV file (i use Libre) and you can translate those 600+ items in ITEMS.CSV and re-insert it into the .BIN container, re-compress it and then recreate the game .rom in a matter of minutes.

of course without fluent knowledge of the language this is all just a personal hobby as the actual game dialog script won't be receiving any translation but in a game of this type merely having the items, enemies and spells in English is enough to guarantee a satisfying gameplay experience, unlike say a more traditionally japanese RPG which relies on constant character dialog and characterization and plot exposition in order to convey gameplay.

right now i'm trying to get Citre up an running in and trying to Google how to Decrypt a .3DS rom i downloaded of elminage: gothic 3DS remix in order to see if I can simply replace the text of the .CSV file(s) with of the 3ds .rom of Gothic with the .CSV file(s) already in English from the Windows PC version of Gothic.

googling "how do i decrypt 3ds rom" yields a surprising amount of malware/phishing-related websites, heh. in any case thanks again for verifying performance.

i've always found it weird how PPSSPP runs games at much higher frame-rates and with much more complicated bells and whistles on my ancient machine in comparison to the amount of DESMUME games which i can barely run. for example when i was playing the NDS fan-translation of 7th dragon i couldn't get a steady frame-rate if i used XBR and this is a non-3D game, meanwhile i'm running PPSSPP games at 60fps upscaled to high heaven.

EDIT: running elminage 2 nds version using DESMUME x432 branch with 2x/3x/4x high-resolution options yields the same frame rates as in regular DESMUME (10-30) which only confirms that it's a cpu issue.

Amd cpu's are horrible for emulation thanks to a an abysmal ips count compared to intel.
Have you tried turning on the dynamic recompiler in emulation settings for desmume?
If you want i can send you a pm for decrypted 3ds roms.

You might also find better performance using RetroArch with the Desmume core which I find to be much better than Desmume standalone thanks to its superior vsync.

Does the Retroarch Desmume allow things such as closing the lid, using the mic, and all those other little touch screen quirks like sliding two different points on the screen at once? I finished playing Hotel Dusk not long ago on the standalone Desmume, and I have no idea how I would be able to complete such a game on Retroarch. Maybe I've just never figured it out.

The DS touch screen doesn't allow for touching two points at once. Any game that wants you to is actually asking you to press a hidden button between those two points (which is what the DS screen views multitouch as).

yes
This is the most important thing for me. How would you do this in Retroarch?

deuxhero As for the touching two points at once, one of the tasks you have to do in Hotel Dusk is you have to flip two switches up by "holding" them up and then hit a switch while doing so. I don't know of any hidden button to do that.

Is it possible to install DLC .cia files to the main game to be played on Citra? Any tutorial how?
