- It’s not meant to be a remake of Ultima IV. Rather it’s a re-imagining.

o_O

something here does not compute

also, how is a 're-imagining' supposed to appeal to ultima fans? Doesn't that mean it's a completely different game at core?

You have to think like a job creator. You think the future is F2P, it makes more moneyz. You need to differentiate yourself, so you come up with some virtues bullshit. But you also want to reach mass market so you make it for the casuals. And then to fight the horde of dumb executives that are doing the same thing as you, you decide to slap the venerable Ultima franchise on it to get at least 10 stories on Kotaku and half the internet noticing. The end result, a mass market (maximum $$$), differentiated (maximum $$$) game with a known franchise to increase its marketing penetration (maximum $$$). But you're not just a great visionary thinker like Steve Jobs, you're also a smooth operator like Tim Cook so you outsource the production to the cheapest studio in your stable, Mythic (maximum $$$). Genius. Better pay yourself a bonus before the game even comes out.

yeah, right, like the real Ultima fans who have mastered Ultima 1-8 and speedrunned them several times would fall for something like this.

What’s this Lady British character?
- She is Lord British’s daughter.

eh? i thought he wasnt into girls, he never have a queen, just abit side-seeding with Nell (who curiously isnt in the Ultima Codex?)

- It is set 21 years after Ultima IV

wait, 21 years after Ultima IV? doesnt that land us around Ultima VI: The False Prophet? im pretty sure some 15-20 years pass between IV and VI...

i never was that rabid kind of a Ultima fan, so they could be right for all i know.

It's 21 years after Ultima IV and an alternate universe (where Lord British disappeared and was replaced by his daughter instead of by Blackthorn, apparently)

Oh, so it fits in the timeline as one of Mondain's gem shard. So smart !

And in that alternate universe, Compassion is embodied by swords, they have new fashion designers, and nothing makes sense. I don't think the Guardian will be going after this one !

the guardian will probably be the focus of an expansion pack after a canon avatar is selected

people will be allowed to join a pro-guardian faction as well as siding with the avatar

the pro-guardian faction will have exclusive clothes, house decorations, companions, pets and magic weapons that you can unlock immediately for a small tribute fee

also there is no rule34 of the guardian I checked

please enjoy these supplementary pictures

Watercolor graphics and giant, tablet buttons with retard friendly icons. Swinging sword must mean attack! That padlock tells me there is something there I can work towards once I unlock an achievement! My munny must go in the dollar sign button! :retarded:

Edit - looks like that guy has won 5 Academy Awards.

You haven't seen the character art that appears in the dialog. You haven't seen the horrible crap the fighter looks like. You haven't seen the game in motion.
But slowly, surely, you get to taste a little bit of how awful it is.

Also, this is the most beautiful area in the game I saw. The dungeons... The towns.... are.... I'm still speechless.

I like how a lot of people in that Ultima Codex page like to emphasize about how they cannot say anything, but hey, I played it :codexisfor:

Wow, I'm speechless. That is a facebook game I've ever ever seen one. This is the turd on Ultima's coffin.

The art style itself isn't bad, but it doesn't look like it fits an Ultima game. The icons and UI are what seal the deal on the casual Facebook game look. What else can that "$" icon imply than a microtransation shop? Oh god, I can't wait to play this.

I believe the game will be (at least somewhat) less derpy on release, but it is a casual F2P game, there's no avoiding that.

It's weird, because without the UI I would have actually had a positive reaction. I know not everyone would like that artstyle but it's pretty unique. And it's top down. I want to actually play this game, even though it will suck. I like that art direction more than most recent games. I'm a sucker for 2D-ish stuff.

Can anyone confirm/deny that it plays at a fixed camera angle or does it rotate and shit? It's kind of hard to tell from those shots.

At the back of your skull.

Ugh, what the hell is wrong with that interface? what the hell is wrong with that background?! what the hell is wrong with that character?!!!! Jesus, the interface reminds me of a flash/browser rpg i played some months ago(and a very crappy one at that).
I so do *not* dig this crap. (will still sample when released, but i now have officially no hope)
