DRAGON AGE 4 INTRODUCES OPTION TO SLEEP WITH DRAGON ANTAGONIST

"We've revolutionized the genre", Bioware says. "Again."
Giving 'you can ride the dragon!' a whole new meaning.

Hopefully the dragon is bisexual otherwise the Biodrones will get upset.

-If she wants to romance with me, she must be prepared to choke.

-If she does not want to choke on my cock, she gets no romance from me.

Choice and Consequence.

Actually I think I've managed to make sense out of the bull and dragon thing: the makers of the game discovered the existence of "a serbian film" and thought to themselves "wow this is really cool but itd be even better if it was with animals" before remembering they were writing something

and the rest is history

So I looked up this movie.

I also saw references made of other shock-horror films, like The Human Centipede and Hostel. Odd, none of it bothered me: probably too much GD posting.

Anyways I think you give Bioshit too much credit.

I have to ask: are there any games that even do proper romances that aren't cheesy, B-movie quality?

MotB, i guess. and i did enjoy the romance in Adam Miller modules for nwn, Other than that, they are usually a cringeworthy waste of time.

I don't think this Bioware crap is a cheese B-movie quality romance. I would say Max Payne 2 had an enjoyable cheesy B-movie romance. This is pure annoying cringy shit.

Codex Year of the Donut Serpent in the Staglands Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Project: Eternity Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Video game stories can't really do good romance IMO. They can do good pick-ups/flings/one-night stands, though.

For example, I kind of liked the Miranda Lawson "romance" in ME2 because she was basically just a corporate slut getting her rocks off with the nearest alpha male. It was believable.

(Although it may have just been less cringeworthy compared to Tali.)

KOTOR2 Handmaiden / Visas romances were good. They weren't really 'romances' I guess, and certainly not in the BioWare sense, but they were handled extremely well and there was nothing cheesy or gratuitous about them.

There was a terrific moment in Alpha Protocol where being slavishly devoted to your beloved other can get a lot of people killed - and people point out to you what a fucking asshole you are for doing it.

Can't think of any others off the top of my head but I'm sure others will point out some I should have mentioned.

If games like Planescape: Torment exist with an engaging story then I don't see why a good romance can't also exist. What exactly do you think is holding back video games?

There's a good number of japanese visual novels out there with story-like romances, but I don't think that's what you're asking for.

Games that have strong romance and gameplay... old Bioware games, ie KOTOR and the like. The Witcher has some good stuff in it, very novel-like. The point-and-clicker Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav has a very beautiful story, voice acting, and, centered in the midst of it all, an astounding romance.

Besides that, my headcanon for the Queen of Spain and Napolean in CivV is quite an invigorating and tragic tale. But you'd need one of those neural cover brain transmitter things to really feel the feels i feel.

And then there's always fanfiction.

Deep in your subconscious mind spreading lies.
What I find strange is the lack of games where your character is a sidekick. The only one of the top of my head is Drakenwhatever: River of Time. I thoroughly enjoyed that perspective. Would love to see some more stories where your PC is an able henchman... would also be kind of interested in seeing romance in such a game. Except of course as an able henchman you could either sabotage the situation for personal gain (hue hue) or play the white knight and be friend zoned like you deserve, watching with tears as the main character steals your imaginary wife. The butthurt of biofans would be glorious.

If I remember correctly, Divinity 2 and to some extent 1 also make the PC a sidekick to Gandalflore, hmm?

Oh, you just need writers that actually experienced romance to pen it down.

I seem to remember an article (probably Gamastrua) talking about how most people in the game industry are single and not married/in a relationship.
