In Starcraft 2, you can reach Diamond League exclusively through cheesing or by mastering a one-base timing attack. Not sure how that's any different than succeeding in a MOBA without knowing all the gory details. In both cases you can circumvent portions of the learning curve at the expense of never achieving your maximum potential.

Both types of games have steep learning curves. Dota's learning curve is more focused on memorization of masses amount of information while Starcraft's learning curve is more focused on executing rote build orders and macro mechanics.
Well said. Min/maxing is just an option when playing ladder/pub games, SC2's diamond league not exactly being the best benchmark of player's capability by any means.
However, I chose to base my opinion of those genres on competitve (league, torunament, if you will) play by default. So this precludes 'cheesing' or incomplete knowledge of game mechanics when assessing the viability of any genre.

I'm glad to see you share the hatred for our sputnik-speaking 'friends'. If I get some spare time to play a round or two, you can count me in anytime. Incarnated is the steam nick, I'm not in the elitist codex steam group yet.

Hey, if anyone wants to be charitable with a fellow codexer on his birthday, I'm accepting a spare key.

Yeah, I played in most of the matches like shit, especially in the last one, in which I felt so fucking tired, goddamn. I'm up for more tonight, if you guys are online.

What irritates me the most is that most of the time I'm fighting controls, not the enemy. The general delay in actions is killing me, I think I'm just used to a more responsive engine than this. Or I'm just lagging.

Also, FUCK THE LACK OF CONCEDE OPTION. Most stupid decision ever. Those two games we won were 45+ minutes I think, 20 of which were mindless farming because we had so much map control and lvl/gold advantage that the other team wasn't really a threat. But at the same time we were not strong enough to push and kill the throne. Result? Enemy team sitting in the fountain.

I don't think that the average Russian I meet in MM is worse than the average non-Russian. It's the fact that there are so many Russians (more than other nationalities) playing Dota on EU that skews people's perception. It's a classic Dota thing to find scapegoats for own failures.

Use net_graph 1 in game to see what's causing the delay, most things can be fixed with some tinkering.

Re. "concede" they will most likely implement some form of "ff" since most Dota 1 clients already allow for it.

Will be online in two hours I think. So we can try.

Fully agree. It's a thing we EU countries do. It's the same with Brazil and USA really. Or with Pinoys.

Use net_graph 1 in game to see what's causing the delay, most things can be fixed with some tinkering.

Will try your tip tonight, thanks in advance.

No problem.

I know using one of these helped me increase my FPS: http://fakkelbrigade.eu/chris/configs/. These are for TF2 but it's Source so they work for Dota 2 as well (use the "MAXFRAMES" one).

(in case the problem is to do with you PC and not the internet connection)

When you enable netgraph you might also wanna check the "LERP" indicator. If it glows red or yellow you might wanna write cl_interp=x into the autoexec.cfg where x is your ping/10000, like 0.01 for 100 ping (I'm not too sure if it's the exact formula, it's been a while since I looked into it). This only works well for ping below 100 though.

Anybody watch the The Defense grand finals today? Na'Vi vs. Quantic. The bo5 match had some lag and disconnection issues but overall it was great. Na'Vi ended up winning 3-2. You guys should check out the vods.

Also, after playing a couple matches with Omniknight, I can safely say he is da bomb.

Watched them live... Well, if you can call it live. Actually, I was kinda busy in the evening and expected to return home only to see the result but, to my surprise, after almost two hours of play it was still 24-th minute of first game. Lucky me (and, I guess, unlucky those guys who actually started watching it in time). Games 1 & 2 were so-so (maybe I'm saying so since I've rooted for Na'Vi but they lost kinda stupidly there, not being able to show any decent play so it was relatively boring). Games 3 & 4 on the other hand were awesome - very intense, very dramatic and with totally strange hero composition in the fourth one. I mean, sure, Jakiro & Riki are not on the Axe-tier (though Na'Vi have won with the Axe this week against, IIRC, Dignitas, but that was more like a jerkassery from their side than a really thought-out play) but still, how often do you see them in matches of this caliber? Excellent, excellent games.

I'm also glad that a darer won over complexity in other tournament - they have shown their potential by defeating the strong team and they say that they used shadow fiend to do so and it's also a not so frequently seen hero. But then, considering that they qualified into this thing by the means of divine rapiered sniper, perhaps they want to make "rogue" games their trademark - would've been cool if this was true.
