Had a pretty good game today with Gondar, didn't get to lane that much at all, which was fun as I was ganking all the time. The enemy team had once again a horrible line-up against me, Slardar, Clinkz, Riki... And then our Pudge went and died, giving gem to Clinkz, which was pretty fun, they ganked me twice in our jungle with Riki. Had a pretty boss feeling then. But in the end I had BF, Monkey King Bar and Black King Bar, shit was cash. Easy win once I got over the depression of being countered totally midgame.

Seems like pub players are sticking more to try-hard heroes, these days. Not a pub game goes by now when someone doesn't pick Sand King, Nature's Prophet, Windrunner, and Anti-Mage. People are watching too many pro competition videos.

AM in pro competitions? Thats a new one.

But yes, other good pro heroes tend to appear consistently now.

"try-hards" ? You can't even pick any hero you want now? What's up with the term? Only heard it first in dota2, must be the influx of butthurt lol/hon faggots.

Anyone up for games tonight? I have some seriously annoying shit going on with my BG reinstall, and I need something to take my mind off it.

Huh? Maybe not in Dota 1 but in Dota 2 AM gets picked/banned a lot. A lot of his counter-heroes aren't in the game yet.

You can pick whatever hero you want. It's just kind of funny when a 5 man team picks the exact 5 heroes that you see appear in every pro game. And, no, I don't think it counts as butthurt to think it's lame when a pre-made 5-man party queues up and pubstomps a random team of 5 pubbers. You don't see Roger Federer hang out at the local park and slap down someone's grandfather just to boost his ego.

Eh, kind of. But when you do solo queue, and the team you play against picks Antimage, Invoker, Lich etc. heroes who are basically a bit OP, the heroes competitive players only player, it kind of sucks. Tryharding is basically leveraging OP heroes and items to get wins against people who aren't playing optimally.

Anybody watching Atod showmatch (where the idea is that captains don't make a pick for themselves, but make a pick for the opposing team, i.e. they try to give opponents a shittiest line-up possible)? First game was quite forgettable, but CoL vs ex-Next.kz, man, that was a blast - where else you'll see Zeus or Spirit Breaker trying to get played competitively? That was such a joy to watch and the finals still remain - man, I wish they do this kind of thing more often and with a top-tier teams too.

Was that on joindota? If so I'll watch the vods, that does sound like a really fun idea. Almost all of the most fun pro games I've ever watched have not been captain's mode. What's the mode in Dota 1 where you pick a new hero every time you die, but keep your items? I've seen pros play that mode and it's absolutely great to watch.

I actually had three really good games today, which is bizarre. Out of my friends that play, me and one other guy are good and the rest are inconsistent and a bit bad, so if we queue as a team of 5 we usually get beaten.

I'm really glad Valve is the company that got Dota and not Jewzzard. I am so fucking happy I don't have to deal with Bnet or Garena any more. The only things I complain about in the game are minor 1) Why is Slardar a fattie and why does he hold his weapon in such a retarded manner? and 2) Why did they turn Crixalis into a lobster? His ult animation, with his tail flopping around, is so retarded it's funny.

Yeah, that was on joindota. I must admit that only second match (next vs col) is really worth watching - first was screwed by retarded picking by one of the teams (they gave their opponents way, way too strong of a pick and paid for it fully) and finals were screwed by one of the players leaving and Tobi replacing him as player (!) while casting simultaneously, so all you could see in that translation was him feeding, like, 0-10 or something, his team losing horribly and, as the camera was focused solely on his spiritbreaker, you couldn't even watch the game fully, so yeah.

Yeah I heard that the reason Tobi didn't want to release it was because he was on Teamspeak with Singsing. I actually watch singsing's stream on a regular basis because the guy is funny as fuck, but I can just imagine that Tobi wants things a little more family friendly.
this is funny, especially because he predicts it

Oh I played a fun game today. The advent of mana boots means crystal maiden doesn't need to get her aura. This makes her so awesome at killing people or setting up kills.
Next game a guy on my team, playing Furion, fed twice before the horn rang. He ran to the rune spot, fed, respawned, immediately teleported back to the rune spot to feed again. Absolutely amazing.

Since the advent of mana boots aura CM is obsolete. Sorry, but you're wrong, the proper way to play her now is to max nova and ice first unless you're on a team that specifically needs the mana regen (and even then, going past level 2 is usually worthless). Nova and ice are two of the most aggressive and powerful support spells in the game.

I played a great game of Dota today, then one of my friends, who is horribad, saw me playing and wanted to join me. The answer should have been "no I'm done with dota for tonight" but instead I played. Everyone on my team was good....except for him.
Aghanim first furion, no treants. He says treants suck because they don't do enough damage :'(
He has the same reasoning for not getting silence on Drow, it "doesn't do any damage"
He's been playing Dota for at least 1 year longer than me...

Sorry, but you are wrong regarding CM. :obviously: Mana boots doesn't provide mana for team members which aren't nearby. Also, you don't pick CM without heroes to go with her, which can utilize constant mana influx. In addition, remember that if you play correctly your CM will be 10 level in the mid-late game anyway.

Sorry, but you're wrong. You don't seem to have a clue about why CM is picked competitively or in pubs. Factually wrong means you lose. Enjoy your 2 year old metagame.

edit- actually you're not using the old metagame at all, you're just using crappy reasons in general. it's not elite to say support heroes should have no items and no levels, only retards play like that any more

Heroes were supposed to be implemented in the same way they were in DoTA 1 with the exception of attack animations and some cosmetic stuff with models. So this isnt really a beta, just not all heroes are in currently (which MAY change picks but wont change overall strategies).

And suggesting that CM is good without aura is heresy.
