Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
Yeah, that too.

I wonder, have we reached the point yet where it takes longer to install and load the game than it takes to complete it?

Many RPGs rely on an arbitrary experience point system to get you skills that are eventually theory-crafted to death to create the best build to take down the big bad boss at the end. Dishonored is quite content to let you play without any powers or modified gear.

(...)

This is one of Dishonored main strengths. The concept of abilities and game mechanics do not get in the way of the story or experience. Items you find along the way -- health potions, crossbow bolts, or even coins -- are essentially a bonus that makes any given mission easier to complete. You do not need any of them.

:hmmm:

There were even instances where I did not kill intended targets if leaving them alive would humiliate them more. Near the end of the game, I had a character tell me that he didn't like what I had become and he planned to warn people of my approach. I killed my one-time friend before he could. I had become that ruthless.

Dumbfuck reviewer or not, you cunts will regret ignoring this game.

:hearnoevil:

Any comment from your buddy about the quality of the game apart from it's length?

Nope. He didn't actually play it himself, just someone he knew so no comment from him on the actual game play. Either that or he did play it and he was too ashamed to admit it.

I seen the early video, and it has nice atmosphere, and the graphic really needs the card they say it needs at minimum.

So it would be probably nice for two playtroughts.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I'm going to play it even though it might end up being less than I hoped for. As long as the stealth isn't shit I'll most likely enjoy it.

Why would you even post this dumbfuck review? You realize that they're paid by views right?

'cause why not? And that guy presumably isn't paid by views since it's some dude who threw it on Youtube and not CVG themselves.

40 minute gloriousgiantbombdotcom quick look of it.

Edit: "Wide CHasms" fucking Patrick god damn. Also, his mana bar is regenerating to full. The developers swore up and down it only regenerated to a minimum point to let you blink in case you got yourself trapped. WHAT'S GOING ON

I am watching it now. The commentary is beyond retarded. Ryan and Patrick are by far the worst people at Giant Bomb and it doesn't help that they are the two most console-centric players with almost no background in PC gaming and specifically games like Deus Ex/Thief/System Shock. Complaints about how Deus Ex letting you choose your playstyle is some sort of weakness, or how being able to blink around enables more creative level design because players are too fucking stupid to jump make me want to drive a spoon into my eye socket.

Yeah, Patrick is horrendous. Ryan is alright as a secondary person in quick looks. For example, Ryan asking if the first person platforming with blink is clunky. Patrick then says "No I was able to do everything I wanted to, it works great" then the entire rest of the video is him failing jumps and taking fall damage and fucking up.

Jesus fuck I hate Patrick.

Simplified gameplay and smaller levels next to 10-year-old game? "There's so much stuff!"

Herp derp, Deus Ex giving you gameplay choices is a "flaw of the genre."

No resource management makes the game better.

Jump + awesome button - skill = blink = innovation!

"Great combat" -> enemies rarely directly attack, stand around while player's back is turned doing nothing.

What better way to encourage exploration than by giving players objective markers for everything and including a vision mode that literally lets you see colour-coded items/upgrades/enemies/etc. through walls? Silly me, I thought exploration was, you know, the process of using wit, perseverance and curiosity to search and discover new things, not flipping down your magical sunglasses and having it all given to you right then and there.

Complains about how blink does not always take you where you want properly, but all mistakes made are because he aims it in the wrong place.

Stealth in Deus Ex is "find the vent", yet in Dishonored it's replaced with "teleport wherever you want", or "possess the dude and walk past everyone." Incline, right?
