Character art direction is a fucking mess. Why does everything have to look like absolute gay vomit these days?

Some of them are from the old iteration of the game (Neon Prime, sci-fi) with some or no modifications at all.
Like I said on the previous post, devs said none of the current characters designs are final. The big question is: will the final designs still look like gay vomit? Thats the 1 million dollars question.

Never was I so apathetic about a Valve game. I hope it tanks harder than Artifact.

Go back to Portal and Half Life you imbeciles.
Valve doesn't care about single-player games anymore. With the exception of HL:Alyx, and that was only to push their VR hardware.

It's all about the "free-to-play" multi-player hero shooters with lootboxes.

I hate intangible mobashit items. In real games like Counter-Strike you buy fucking GUNS. Every game now has some stat/ability customization shit and it needs to fucking end. Remove 'rpg game elements' from all games NAO

I'm kind of shocked seemingly no one on this thread has played the game yet. It's up to 20k concurrent players. Anyway, agree about the critiques of the character visual design but the game itself is fun.

Played a bit yesterday night and enjoyed a bit, it is really Dota with Overwatch gameplay, it even got the denying mechanic in Dota.

My main problem is visual clarity getting a mess after everyone got their 4 skills, battlefield turns into a chaotic playground. Overwatch was never this chaotic even when with everybody firing their ultis same time. Also I guess map needs some large open ground areas, it is just narrow streets with lots clutter right now.

Shops and items are a bit rough but thats early access for you.

Some news today: Valve lifted the "fight club" shenanigans they were doing. Everyone inside the test can talk, post images/videos and stream the game.

Also, a Steam page:

If you want to give the game a try, add me on Steam so I can invite you.

Deadlock "NDA" is now lifted. Steam page, people inside the test can discuss, post images/videos and stream it.

It felt bad and ran even worse. I'm not ready for another GaaS in my life ever since I quit DotA circa 2015.

Just tried out the latest hit video game called DEADLOCK. Why on earth did they have to make yet another fucking Moba? There are so many washed up shits like this on the market. Is it bad? Not really. But it's just... Eh? Does everything have to be an contentender for the shit called Esports all the time? What about a basic deathmatch game for once if they reallly have to make a pvp game.

as someone who liked dota, deadlock existing is such a bummer. why not just retool dota to run on console and steam deck or something instead of make some shitty new IP that looks like dishonored without whales?

Not much of a moba fan, but the game itself is alright. But my concerns are that Valve are the people behind it. Now they're spewing out generic video game#3218: Esports Edition. Which so many companies have done themselves, both rising and falling. What will make this crap any different? People never wanted this to begin with, but valve has infinite money and they can work on whatever they want in the end. But ignoring the interest of the customer tend to bite one in the arse eventually.

Deadlock is most likely a "side project" while others are fixated upon HLX or someshit. If rumours and leaks are to be believed.

It really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that it looks like shit visually. It's an alpha full of temporary art, and it's using a mishmash of leftover art from a deleted project that was an entirely different genre (Neon Prime) that also never made it past pre-alpha. This isn't like EA or Ubisoft selling people beta access where it's just the exact same game that's going to be released but a month earlier to build up the hype, this game literally looks like (and likely is) over a year from actually being released, it is an invite-only closed alpha test full of jank and programmer art. The developers said on the forum that every character model in the game right now is placeholder and not remotely final. It's an alpha made up from scraps to test gameplay and map layout, anyone who doesn't get it probably isn't familiar with how Valve does alphas/betas (look at DOTA2's pre-release schedule, it was also full of placeholder art for fucking ages) and is basing it off of mainstream console multiplayer games doing "closed beta" (pre-order now and get access to the beta 1 week early before release!!!).

Plenty of reasons to dislike it that won't obviously be changing, such as it being a hero shooter or it using a MOBA gamemode as its foundation.
