And if you mean it in sense that no new games are being made in it, then good fucking riddance. Its fans clearly don't want anything new either.
Also, this is not a "MOBA shooter", it's just a fucking MOBA with OTS camera.

I wouldnt call mobas "dying genre", but they are somewhat stagnating. Failing to attract new players due to complexity/learning curve (and time you need to invest for it)/"toxicity". Failing to grow compared to other multiplayer games. Dota is a better example of this but LoL is not immune to this. Even Riot learned they need to diversify their company with other games (or game modes like LoL's TFT and card game).

Also your statement about Deadlock not being a shooter is plain retarded. The moba with OTS camera thingy you talked about is a description more fitting to Smite.
If Deadlock was not a shooter at its core, it would fail big time to attract Valorant, Overwatch and CSGO players but there is plenty of evidence that its not failing to do so.

I seriously can't understand people complaining about growth when talking about the playerbase of LoL + Dota (or other similar products that performed absurdly well).

Seriously what are you retards expecting from Valve. Wow they made ANOTHER MOBA? How could they it's not like they previously only made first-person shooters that they bought from modders and nothing else. You aren't allowed to have multiple games in the same genre unless that genre is RPG.

Going with the 'flat company' and 'our guys just work on what they wanna work on', I read that this was what the team that made Nu-Dota wanted to make. Probably an exciting release for Gen-Z #SocialGaming. I expect innovative things from Valve in that they are private owned and have a money printing press, this isn't it.

New update today. The biggest changes are:

-New hero: Mirage (aka persian Kunkka)
image.png

image.png

-Added an initial Anti-Cheat detection system. If a cheater is caught, other players on the same game session can choose to ban him instantly and end the match or turn him into a frog for the rest of the game and then ban him when the match ends.

-Custom match/Private lobby game mode

Also balance and map changes (and probably more hidden/stealth changes).

New update:
-Ranked mode (will open on october 15th. medals [ranks] will be updated on a weekly basis.)
-Some QoL changes like input buffering and more quick cast options
And your average balance changes and map changes that they do every patch.

I have not played in a while because the matchmaking was absolutely retarded. The quality of the matches were too schizophrenic.
There is no mention of matchmaking changes (and there is no ETA for the new matchmaking system) so Im afraid it still the same shit. Will test if its still the same shit tomorrow.

Smite with gangstaz?
A bit like Smite except fully 3D, your feet aren't glued to the floor and you're free to jump, dash, airdash and wall-jump around. The itemization is quite different. Levelling up is different, as your XP is directly tied to your gold. There is no mana, no cosmetics (currently), only two gods (one at each end of the map) and the art direction doesn't look like absolute ass.

So, nothing like Smite.

The smite comparison is just surface level stuff: third person perspective and being a moba. They are too different to compare properly. Cheesedragon117 did a pretty good tl;dr on key differences. (except the two gods part, its a weird way to say both teams have to protect something on their side; something that is shared on pretty much all mobas lol)
If you like playing mobas and shooter games like OW/Valorant/Apex (theres quite a few CS players who enjoyed the game as well), might be worth trying the game to see for yourself.

Something worth noting is that deadlock is kinda twitchy and sometimes too frenetic and chaotic. Guess what im trying to say is that its more appealing to zoomers or people that likes really quick action. So it doesn't appeal much to many codexians here. I invited like 5 people from here to join the alphatest. (if you want an invite, just ask me)

Old RPGs forever is an infinitely better deal than this kind of shit.

Who gives a fuck about creativity is it only leads to gay crap like this.

Wanted to test and see if matchmaking got fixed but I stopped after 1 match because the command to change regions is not working. I dont like playing on SA servers, my people and argentines are annoying as fuck to play with.
Dota 2 is the same shit, used to play on NA servers 99% of the time.

New patch. Most visible changes (ignoring map changes, balance and other stuff like new sfx and vfx fixes):

-6 new heroes added to a new matchmaking mode called Hero Labs. Can't play them on normal matchmaking or ranked.

-Updated world lighting and character shading

I like the new lighting. They are slowly changing the game to match some of the concept art they shared. The eclipse gone is a downgrade tho.

God, I hope Mid Boss's room looks exactly like the concept art in the final game.

I can't imagine why they feel the need to fuck with the map lighting, character lighting and stuff. Nor why they feel the need to ask a bunch of Discord troons whether the unreleased heroes are good or not. Their opinions on the game are worth less than nothing.

I think the eclipse sun might have been a placeholder, or the default skybox in Source 2's Hammer editor. If it was intentional and lore-significant I'm hoping they'll add it back.

They obviously want to test the waters and see if what they want with the aesthetics is something that the userbase will enjoy. I've seen a few complaints about eye strain because most lanes now are covered in shadow (which I do agree is valid criticism, the shadows might need some tuning).

About the unreleased heroes, I think its great they released for the normies who don't know how to use commands. Before this update, they were constantly changing skills from some of those upcoming heroes so I think they are somewhat in need of data and opnions about them from the entire playerbase.
Since the game is a moba shooter that has tri-dimensional depth (compared to the usual 2-dimensisonal depth of A-RTS mobas like lol and dota) , being extremely nitpicky and meticulous to make heroes feel mechanically sound and feel nice to play is extra important.

New patch is going to drop any second now, but i want to talk about a few things.
I think they are doing good work improving the aeshetics and other design aspects of the game like sound design (which valve does a superb job every single time in my opnion). Game still is an alpha but little by little, the game is taking shape to match their vision.

The devs are really listening to player feedback and bug reports. This has been both good and bad. What is bad about it?
First: the game has huge discord community (and you know how the average discord user is). Thankfully, they use an forum for feedback/bug reports most of the time, but there have been quite a few cases of them taking talk from discord to make changes (and also revert changes).
Second: Valve takes playtesting serious and they sometimes take feedback from absolute retards which obviously can be detrimental for a few aspects of the game.
Most of the problems I experienced about this are mostly related to game balance tho, so nothing too egregious have happened so far with them taking advice from imbeciles.

The player base has shunk significantly since the game got officially announced. From 171k players to about 50k daily players for the past couple of days.

115a800768a1297c6ea12a31c6e8af54.png

What is the cause of this? Honestly I think is too soon to really tell, and I mean this literally because its an alpha. Game being an alpha does not help with increasing and mantaining player numbers.
From the graph you can tell the game got a hold of at least +150k players for 4 weekends (2 big patches) and after that the player count started to drop. To my knowledge and experience, nothing really bad happened on those 2 patches, so what I can think of about this drop is that most of those people who got into the playtest got tired of the game OR got tired of the lack of content. The game still has no "progression"/grind systems like battle passes and player levels, something that most zoomers these days really love, so this might be one reasson for a few people giving up on the game. Theres a ranked matchmaking, but it feels underdeveloped for now. So the game still has no big hook for competitive tryhards.

Its too early to doompost about the game and "old games good, new game bad" stuff. I like what they are doing with aesthetics and design, but Im concerned about them taking the wrong advice and feedback from the community.

Also they droppped the patch as I was writing this post, but theres nothing major on the patch. Just balance, map changes and stuff.

Surprise surprise! Thankfully is more common only in asia and ruskie servers, but... same old valve problem

Vacnet is still getting worked on but im unsure how impactful it will be
