He actually does seem better at it than Dead State people. Couple days back I peeked in on the AoD Steam forum because WHERE'S MY NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER UPDATES LEBOWSKI and found this. http://steamcommunity.com/app/230070/discussions/0/626329820972079887/#p1

The problem with releasing your game on Steam is the Steam forum.
I was gonna say the advantage of releasing your game on Steam is all the Steambux, but that made me wonder. Certainly don't need specific numbers if you don't want Vault Dweller but how did Steam do for AoD sales compared to non-Steam? Since you've never run a big (Or any, I think) sale on Steam yet and possibly never been on the marquee (Might've been when you first got listed on Steam, can't remember) you're in kind of the worst position as far as mountains of Steamgold is concerned. Was wondering if the previous stats I'd heard where people usually sell 9 copies on Steam for every 1 non-Steam copy sold was holding true for you or not even without all the Steam advertising, if they're more even, or if (Horror of horrors) non-Steam is outselling Steam.

Minor annoyance concerning dialogues... Well, it's a big annoyance.

The dialogue lines that you exaust with each npc shod disappear, I keep going on to talk to the various npcs in the school only to find the same dialogue choices staring back.
As far as I've seen there's no real need to go back to NPCs during the day after you've run through all their dialog, except if you're turning in a quest or giving them deodorant. If new dialog shows up generally speaking you'll get an event out of it. I used to check 'em regularly too but after a few days I just gave up.

We sold 900 copies in a year and a half on our own (when we had media attention). We sold 10,000 copies on Steam in a year and our game isn't very accessible or friendly to new players (which explains the low conversion and interest rates). We never ran any sale and were not featured on the front page.

I found this disappointing the first time I noticed it, then immediately stopped noticing it. It's really no different from any other RPG.

It would be nice if every character was inexhaustible in conversation, but honestly putting in the equivalent of "Joel stares at you silently" for each one wouldn't be a huge improvement. At least this way if I want to I can rehear the "origin story" of each character: Hey Corbeau, tell me again about how you met up with that Japanese lady.

It's not like there are hidden lines buried beneath all the repeating stuff. When there is a new reason to talk to a character, you'll know about it.

Well I'll be damned, the ratio held up even without any promotion from Steam. Was curious if that'd be the case for a relatively niche thing like AoD which might have more "Give me non-Steam or give me death" players than your average game. Thanks for the info though, was curious. :salute:

Fair number of devs have done shit like that on Steam before. Since Doublebear hadn't done it yet I was hoping that Valve changed it so they no longer could, but maybe they just couldn't into Steam and didn't realize they could pull negative reviews and call them nasty trorrs.

Some customers are not worth it. They can cost you money to do business with, or they go out of their way to destroy staff morale. So in that case you would fire that customer. Of course they will have a tantrum elsewhere on the net. Ways to reduce the chance of that, is to return their money and refer them to someone else.

I am pretty certain a customer can't be fired, unless business works very different over in your place.

So are there any sales figures for this game?

I don't think there is any chance we see actual sales numbers for this.

Sadly for them, this story is picking up on Reddit, 4chan, etc....Those places can totally destroy a game. Let's be honest, they deserve it for being liars.... Unless they revert the game back to it's old stage and issue an appology with some perk (s) for the game, they are going to be pretty screwed. Not just for this game but for other games. Even with a name change, we will know who they are. I'm avoiding their games. There's already a ton of issues in the gaming world. If I can avoid a game that's half working only because the devs are greedy liars, then you can be sure that I will.

Did anyone hold a gun to their head and force them to beta test the product? This may surprise you, but some people consider it a honour to have play a small part in developing a creative work. I know this may be a foreign concept to some people on the Codex, who spend untold hours with their thumb up their ass bitching about how all modern RPGs suck instead of contributing anything of value to the gaming world.

Yeah, and some people derive sexual pleasure from eating feces out of their own volition. That makes them fucked up in the head, just as much as people who pay to work.

Haha, good job at projecting your own subjective feelings onto other people. Just because you feel that paying to beta test a product is equivalent to someone eating shit doesn't mean that everyone else feels that way. Not everyone holds the same values and beliefs you do. Shocking, I know.

Expecting a piece of software to be reasonably bug-free and finished is now on the same level as expecting your cock to be sucked? You are literally and actually a moron, and people like you enable these shitty practices in the first place.

Expecting a public apology, not only directed towards you, but also *to everyone who bought the game*, is the emotional equivalent of demanding fellatio. It's ego stroking at its lowest, and I have absolutely no respect for consumers who try to coerce public apologies when the producer is doing their best to address customer concerns. Listen, I get it. The game hasn't met the standards of a number of people who have played it, and that is being addressed. Attempting to turn the whole issue into a public crusade is something I'd expect from SJW.

You see morons. Morons, baby, morons!

what-the-duck.jpg

Where have the producers denied that there are bugs in the game? From what I can tell, they have actually made a list of known bugs, and uploaded fixes for them. This sort of dishonesty you are demonstrating is exactly why I have no problems with the producers banning certain posters from their forums.

I tried googling Double Duck and Duck State too, but there's no such games out there.
What the hell, RK47? Are you trying to mislead us?

Yes, they never claimed there aren't bugs. Instead they were fixing them as fast as possible. Wouldn't make sense to deny it. There are a number of reviews which mention them as well. Personally I didn't have a single bug so far but I fully believe there are scripting issues and the game wasreleased to early. Still no reason to overdramatize it. The game is fully playable and not worse in its state as other released games (but being on the buggy side of released games).

For this pretentious kids (kids-like people) they should just ignore them. Banning and taking reviews back will only give them a stage to perform further.

What the fuck? Seriously, fuck them. This is Bioware-level shit. They just lost all my sympathy.

My only concern now is if this will affect Age of Decadence negatively.
