Well, despite what i said above, this mod has some of the best emergent stories/gameplay I've ever experienced in a game.

I just had a shootout with zombies, until i ran out of bullets and was terribly wounded and had no bandages left. I then climbed up unto a roof because a chopper was nearby. I threw some flares to signal the chopper . Well, the chopper came alright, but I got shot by a sniper just as the chopper was about to rescue me. The plot thickens as I later found out that said sniper was in league with the chopper guys. Sucks that I got killed after racking up so many kills but the emergent story was cool.

We played DayZ like that, bro.

The tactical skills from the base multiplayer really help.

We constantly communicate on TS3. We set up 360 degree overwatch when looting. We do bounding across the open areas (basically some dudes run ahead, while some dudes remain behind and provide cover, then we switch roles). We use suppression fire on other people which forces them to focus on the shooter while the rest of the dudes flank them around and kill them.

Mind you this works great with 4+ people and not so great with less due to limited tactical possibilities but at least we didn't die once when working as a group. I'd say it's almost too easy at times.

When I respawned to rejoin the group I had only makarov and dudes were like "let's find him good stuff", we went to the airbase and in under 30 minutes I was running with a winchester, cz550 (sniper rifle) and a revolver (loud but 1-shots anyone). Some time later we found me an M16 :M

Communication is the key against paranoia. We actually shot and killed one of our own (not a part of a group mind you but an ally) because he tried simply to approach us thinking we'll probably recognize him or some shit lul instead of telling us it's him. He became so butthurt even though it was his fault. We didn't take his stuff though so he could come back and have it.

The main problem is that direct chat is still broken and when it will get fixed I bet there will be much less murders.
The majority aren't crazy bandits who just dream about shooting you. People just shoot you because everyone shoots them as nobody can hear direct chat so people choose the safest solution.

One week, roughly 200 zombies and 4 murders later, I died lying down and rolling towards a tree. Collision killed me.

Thankfully, I got there back before anyone found my body and got all my equipment. It's as if nothing happened :smug:

Yeah, my 150 zombie kills and 2 murder survivor died plummeting 3 stories inside a castle tower. Such is life.

Also, the temperature system and infection system are fucking retarded right now. Can't get warm when it's cloudy outside.

Yes you can
There are several ways

Light a fire or start running

He will tone it down a bit in a patch. Also rocket is planning to add bears that will attack players :M

Nah, they changed something yesterday when Creamy, soup, and I were playing, it's fixed now, but fire was the only way to bring it back up. Running when it was cloudy still made your temp fall.

Yep there is some incline

Code:
* [FIXED] Temperature not increasing in sunshine
* [FIXED] Cleanup not occuring on servers for loot (causing massive lag and FPS issues)
* [FIXED] Fires can't be placed in buildings
* [FIXED] Tent's cannot be placed easily (reduced object checking zone area)

aI was doing solo barn raids in the rain on 1.5.8.2, 0F temp, coughing, wheezing and shaking. I still managed. Now it's balanced pretty good I think, I'm not too worried about it. The worst that happens is you shake and cough. Now the shaking seems to go away somehwhere in the 20's and the coughing around 50F, I think. I wasn't paying too much attention. Running keeps it up and there's a lot of that in this game.

I made a few boring videos of what I did last night. My 'squad' was sleeping so I snuck out to see if I could get some matches. Here's the first one.

tip: don't reload that often, you are leaving half emptied magazines in your inventory which may be deleted when you load game (OTOH they can also be restore to max). You can also zoom when using sights in case you didn't know.
You guys are playing at night in Europe?

I've heard about the magazine thing but my finger has been twitching on the 'reload' key for many years, it's hard not to do it but I'm trying not to. How do you figure out what's left in a particular mag?

I didn't know you could zoom while in sights, but when they're up I rarely have time to think about it. Plus I've rebound all my keys and not sure if that combo would work too well. Maybe for scoping things out.

We play NA servers just before night as a group, so we start in the day then the rest is usually in the dark. We seem to be a night team. When everyone else goes to sleep I cheat and jump on the EU/RU servers. I'm too scared to play in the dark alone. I do sometimes, but this is freaky enough for me. Join the dex vent channel and hook up with us.

The times would roughly be anywhere between: (I'll go Eastern Pacific Time) 6pm - 3am on weekdays. Later on weekends I suppose. I'm up at any given time and generally play late into the morning until I run out of adrenaline or blood. Take your pick.

I'll try and record some of our night operations next time, they're a big stress but usually successful, we're getting better at it. I'm having fun.

Popamole. When you can, do it. Always keep in the back of your mind where you're going to flee when things go bad. And things go bad very fast quite often. Never get caught in the open (of this 225 square km map) if you can help it. It's worse when that happens.

I love rainy days and leaky barns. All that I wanted was a box of matches. How hard can it be?

And finally, the last one. I'll show a group night video sometime. YouTube asks me after processing, "Your video is shaky, would you like us to fix that?". My response was only a choice between yes or no, but I wanted to add, "only if it involves a blood transfusion".

I went exploring the NW sectors. What a fucking wasteland. I was so sure there would be at least a few barns where I would get beans so I brought only one with me but then, there were NONE. Nothing but cardboard houses. A while later, hunger indicator started blinking red and then I noticed I was down to 4000 blood and going down without bleeding, vision black and white and shaking. I started killing random zombies just so they might drop beans. Only one did out of a few dozen. I was avoiding the airfield due to bandits but it was the only place that was left so I took the chance.

Then I started started fainting at blood 2000-something. I pleaded for help, hoping some good samaritans would help me out with food and stuff and some guy told me to say where I was and to stare at wall and not move until he came. LOL! I thought he would rape kill me so I started raiding the loot spawns but then he found me while I was taking zeds down and he actually did a blood transfusion, using his own blood pack.

His name was Jim The Dog. If you ever see him, he's a bro. Exploit his ass :troll:

Later on, some guy said he was stranded in Lopatino with his legs broken and no morphine and asked for some. I was nearby so I said I would help. I searched everywhere in town, trying to avoid zeds. He was never where he said he would be. Turns out I was a moron, I was looking for him in the town to the SE, Vybor.

I made a few boring videos of what I did last night. My 'squad' was sleeping so I snuck out to see if I could get some matches. Here's the first one.

How unnecessary. Get on the dam, pick one from distance with your loudest weapon. Others will line up on either side of the dam. Pick them point blank. I wrote about this a few pages ago. When pursued by zombies, get on dam or a scaffolding.

Good call. Next time I'll stand on a damn shooting zombies beside a major roadway. Brilliant. Where's a good place to stand on scaffolding? I honestly don't think I've seen any yet.

Man, the very first thing I noticed in that video is the grass is moving like it's in crazy wind but the rain is coming straight down.
