Trying to get into CDS but having problems.
Anyway your tents vanish after 2 days when you die. So I have tents in my tent (to set up new tents for my next life) + backpacks stuffed with tools and ammo (running around without backpacks so you can bring packs to your tents is insane), jerry cans of fuel (but no vehicle)l etc. If I have to find a tent before I die to keep my stuff then all this trouble is more work than fun, better off running around ramboing and respawning.
Getting bored with hoarding all this stuff, I may start killing people soon.

Fucking shit! It is a pitch black night I have no idea where I am and I have shiloads of food and drinks. I'm thinking to myself - "fuck yeah time for a trip inland and away from the coast" After a few minutes I see some building and think to myself "well I could check it out". It's pitch black and I have no idea what town is it. Turns out it is the fucking Chernogorsk :D lol got shot by a bandit, managed to run away and got eaten by a horde of zombies.

Loot points spawn new loot, usually in a couple of minutes if you take everything. Try barns and farmhouses inland, they spawn the middle grade rifles pretty frequently.

Sometimes, people drop PHAT L00T in easy to see places. Don't fall for it, it's a trap :smug:

Use this map to navigate. I'd recommend going to Prigorodky (between Cherno and Elektro), provided you know how to sneak your way through those two cities. Prigorodky has a barn with shittons of ammo, two winchester's, two sniper's, a bunch of drinks and food and what else not. After that head up north and loot villages. Churches are especially great for that. Don't go to Cherno and Elektro until you have some more experience.

Oh and to spot ourselves if we happen to be on the server, what do you say we use a tag? I suggest '[kkk]' (kodex kool kid) to stay in the spirit of kodex.

Fucking hell I went to Elektro - got a map, binoculars, flashlight, watch, hunting knife, matches, Winchester and a 1911 and lots of ammo for both. Got pinned down by bandit sniper. He shot me but I managed to get inside a building. I ate all the food to restore some blood but I still have only 3000 blood left. So I fucking quit the game. Fuck that dude. Not gonna get out of that building today. Gonna try to escape Elektro tomorrow. Probably at nighttime. Escaping Elektro during the day is suicide.

We have extra blood packs so we can heal you. Or you can just try to survive a long time and heal over time with food.

Sucks that this temperature stuff comes without equipment to keep warm eg. a coat.

Or own piss in bottle for the heat :troll:

And infection by cold is quite fucking retarded.

Oh shit, he nerfed the Wingun :'(

I feel sorry for those who never got to use a Winchester before this update.

Rocket needs to lessen the requirements for the flat area. Seriously you don't need a 10m x 10m flat empty area to deploy a damn tent.

Also Villain what's wrong? Winter is coming?

If you want to keep DayZ and other mods up-to-date without downloading file by file and putting them manually use this

It's a huge mod cloud manager with favorite server support.

So, I just started playing this and the first thing I was greeted with once I got into a server was a bandit (about twenty metres off) running across my screen followed by a group of ten or so zombies. I fired randomly in his direction, he did not drop, and then I ran. About thirty seconds later I got a bandit kill. I think I like this mod. Truth be told, I thought that the entire procession was zombies until I got that kill.

Unfortunately, I did not take the advice of many in this thread to let my heart be hardened: I tried to spare someone. I was losing a lot of blood and had no bandages when I found a series of small homes. In the first house I found a few bandages and once I went to sweep through the second to heal I stumbled upon something. There was a crouched man looking in my general direction, but I was already aimed at his head before he had turned to me. I was less than three metres off, so I am quite certain that he would have died. Once he noticed me, I backed off slowly and went to bandage myself from a hidden position. Halfway through healing, he popped around the corner and shot me dead.

I then respawned in the pitch black of the night with a very strange noise nearby. There was some kind of crawling, gibbering zombie about five metres away from me. I tried to sneak away from this very unfortunate situation, but I was eventually forced to fire. I then learned that there was a lot more than one zombie around.

I also killed a cow and was very disappointed when I could not eat it. Then I found a tire, but the game informed me that I could not pick it up. Then I ran away from a bunch of zombies and off what I can only assume was a cliff near the coast. Dead again.

^ The paranoia is a big part of the game. Most people adopt a "shoot first ask questions later mentality."

However, the Dayz mod is built from ArmA 2, and ArmA 2 is a realistic squad based tactical game at its heart, not a regular fps like Battlefield 3. So I honestly beleive that the game is a lot more fun when played with a bunch of team-mates with microphones. If you play a vanilla multi-player Arma 2 game, you have people in your squad who are designated pilots, designated artillery, designated snipers etc. Its a whole bunch of fun to plan and implement tactics with your teammates then react to the changing situations on the map. I really wish there was more of this aspect of the game in the Dayz mod instead of loners running and gunning with a Battlefield 3 mentality.
