Can someone enlighten me what more there is apart from Nigh City? I stumbled on an Orbital Stations Sourcebook, but yeah... what else there is in the world of Cyberpunk 20XX?

Japan rules the world. Neo Soviets exist and sell oil, but some of the eastern block broke off (which is pretty much the way you would expect it to be if the shittiness of potato mid-90s never ended). EUtopia shells unruly undesirable (read: kwans) with mass driver from orbit, while being ruled by a Corporate Aristocracy flaunting wealth. Kwa is thirdworldia, the highways are a live re-enactment of the Road Warrior with gangs and nomad families clashing, everything worth anything in Kwa is corporate property. Chinamen are pretty strong, but not as much as you would expect from a modern perspective. Black people build space stations for Europeans, because the EU (was it called the EU or just European Community? I forgot) has a mass driver on the equator.

The above ignores Cyberpunk 203X, as any sane person should (also because CDP already said they'll ignore it). Of course, considering that and the whole shebang will be set in 2077, a lot can change.

If they pull out some great writing and characters (like Roy Batty from Blade Runner), I'm willing to forgive some transgressions. Cyberpunk actually has untapped potential, unlike the elf-dwarf medieval Europe bullshit (I also particularly dislike Geralt) that seems to be coming out of the woodworks.

This pretty much means what i told earlier in this thread before premiere of TW3. After TW3 CB2077 cRPG was scrapped and now people will focus on delivering TW3 in CB2077 skin. So earlier interviews about trying to do PnP systems are now moot.

On one hand i would love TW like cyberpunk game (with their writting) but on other hand i would love proper jab @ cyberpunk PnP game

I hate Witcher 3 size, the land feels so empty and lifeless until you find a small village with a lousy contract and then hop on the horse again and spend another 10 minutes until you find another village and another crappy contract. They should stick with their Witcher 1-2 formula, make it a snugly tight experience.
And now they are making this game even bigger? Expect the content to be sparse because driving around a 140km lifeless map sure will be fun.

You are a faggot. TW world IS awesome because they didn't follow all other open world games mantra of doing potatoland of new thing every 5m. They also realistically made world to size in which city feels like city is city instead of being 8 people and a house so world looks like proper world instead of: "Here is castle of doom and near it capitol of empire and between them on stone throw lenght is pit of doom with hordes of goblins"

AND it fit the books as Geralt character was wanderer doing odd jobs aside from hunting monsters which again fit perfectly side quests stuff.

Also again "Sparse" you are talking like TW didn't have like shitload of meaty sidequests that all the time were something else than fetch me x or kill me xyz amount of D

While I'm not a fan of large open worlds, I would like to see a large atmospheric cyberpunk city.

That's true, from what I understand they came up with their own unique implementation of enemy level scaling.

me too. Especially a city with an endless supply of lootable crates filled with broken cyber, iron ore, old wires. I can't sell any of it though cause I might need it to crafrt the level 10 cyber hat.

The main thing is though, it is difficult to make a proper urban environment in an open-world game. Large open plains are easy to do, a rather vertical urban landscape not so much.
What the hell are you talking about? Why would it be hard to "make a proper urban environment in an open-world game" ?

Also, this idea:
Lead writer Sebastian Stępień said the game will have non-player characters speaking in non-English languages.
Player characters who don't speak the language will have to buy a translator implant to understand them.
...is retarded and I hope they ditch it.

A proper open-world urban game environment would allow the player to enter every building he sees (whether the player character would live to tell the tale is another story). This would require tremendous amounts of work put into assets alone. Even GTA V is not that detailed. Hell, the level of detail needed to the exteriors of buildings right, without it looking like copy paste, is also a whole magnitude larger.

Making large open plains, mountains and countryside is easy compared to that.

It's a great idea tho.
If only for the atmosphere and muh immersiun.
For example listening to NPC chatter in Russian while playing STALKER was fucking amazing and a million times better than what it would have been if they were instead talking English.

Look, "open world" doesn't mean you need to be able to enter every godamn building you see...
Open world is a term for video games where a player can move freely through a virtual world and is given considerable freedom in choosing how or when to approach objectives, as opposed to other computer games that have a more linear structure.

It makes some players have advantage over others. What if I know russian, german and chinese? I don't need the stupid implant then...

And it doesn't really matter to me if everyone speaks english, what's wrong with that? How does that break your immurshun?? The story is taking place in some US city anyway...

But some players are always going to have an advantage over others ? I assume that the game is going to be a shooter so a player with better reflexes is going to have an advantage over those who don't.
Nothing wrong with that really.

It's the neutral standard so there's nothing really wrong about it but it's not perfect either.

idk
If I like sneak in into a chink megacorp or something and try to eavesdrop their executives it would be pretty cool to hear them only talking in chinkspeak and then me having to decode the recordings/find a translator/whatever.

Because your typical Cyberpunk setting is filled with skyscrapers and other megastructures.

I just can't imagine something this in a video game:

Anything less is a half-assed attempt.

Open world abstraction will always feel weirder than hub abstraction. Deus Ex/Bloodlines ftw in this regard.

You havent even played either of those games you fucking autist, go home.

What a bizarre claim to make, given how much detail I've gone into discussing both.

One doesn't even have to play them to know that a series of detailed smaller areas to explore with abstracted traveling are going to feel more real than an entire city compressed into an area that can be traveled across within 10 minutes or so.

Yeah, ok but I think they should make the chinks talk something that doesn't make any sense(also in chinkish), not the actual conversation... so that the people who understand chinkish in real life also need translator-implant.

So we who don't know it will still feel immurshed, and those who do know it will still need implant and won't have it easier...
I mean the implant could be an important piece of the game, and by making it useless for chinese people, you take the full-experience of the game away from 1 billion potential players...

"The team is divided right now," Michal Nowakowski, CD Projekt SVP of business and publishing, told GR+ news guy Leon Hurley at the show. "There's a sizable team still working on [The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine], but an even more sizable team has actually been working on Cyberpunk for quite a while right now."

Nowakowski noted that Cyberpunk 2077 has been in the works since it was first announced back in 2012, though he did add that it was "very early development." CD Projekt Red hasn't given any hint of a release date for the sci-fi, open-world RPG (it's never even officially said the game's coming to this generation of consoles) but we'll hopefully hear more after Blood and Wine launches in the first quarter of 2016.
