There's quite a few potions up in high places in the city that seemingly are impossible to get to, is there a way to knock them down or something?
Telekinesis spell, duh.

do you guys ever get the feeling you're somewhere you're not supposed to be
That's Vardhal, you will go there in Ch5. The purple gates are the entrance to a pretty big dungeon that is a separate location, just like the sewers. But everything before those gates is accessible as soon as you get into the city. Be careful though, Vardhal surroundings contain some of the strongest monsters in the game and they come in packs too.

couple questions
While clearing out the area near the farm, I found Hod's body. Is there anything I can do with it? I remember him hanging around the windmill in chapter 1 and having a weird voice.
Is there anyone I can tell about the orc scout? I told the farm owner and he called me crazy.

Nobody will do shit about it until royal envoy arrives in ch4. After that keep doing quests for Grayson to eventually tackle the problem.

Telekinesis spell, duh.

You may have missed it in chapter 1, but on one of the early quests (picking berries near a shrine, killing wolves?), a companion NPC mentions that keeping a scroll of TK handy is especially useful for quickly scanning all the intractable objects in a given range.

I played Gothic 1 so many times, and never thought of this trick. After I realized what the NPC was getting it, my melee-only character never left home without a TK scroll. Makes a very long game a little less tedious to not have to run up to absolutely every object to decide if you want it or not.

quest tells me to wait until a guard is asleep at a very specific time to go past where he stands to open a chest
use a sleep spell on him, can't open the chest, have to wait for him to actually do his sleep routine

this kind of design is getting annoying tbh

Hod is part of the quest to get to the swamp haven if u joined the merchants guild.

telling people about orc scouts is a recurring theme in the game.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Grab the Codex by the pussy RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth
Replaying as a guard. Quite impressive how different the playthroughs are so far (Just got into Act 3, but lots of different content between them).

Also nice little bit of reactivity/detail, Marvin starts ending conversations with lower ranked guards with "Dismissed" once you obtain the Swordsman/Crossbowman rank.

A lot of people will refer to you as guard/officer in small talk too
I think it's the armor that triggers it

Your loss then, it's a very cool and unexpected game.
I've stated many times what my issues with the "game" are, and none of my complaints were addressed. Just simpletons like Rabbity_Thing claiming I'm somehow obsessed. I'm not. I'm also ready to give this mod another try once they make the opening part not a fucking disgrace it is now.

I'd be embarrassed too if a bunch of amateur first-timers outdid me in something I've been doing professionally for 20 years.
Phew, good thing they didn't because this "game" is as amateurish as every other mod that attempts to be all uppity.
Did you actually play the mod? How far in did you play? Can you list what you dislike about it? Do you even like Gothic 1 and 2 in the first place?

I have a few minor complaints about Archolos, but I struggle to understand how someone could dislike this mod so intensely if they're someone who actually likes the core g1/2 gameplay in the first place.

I'm Polish, and I was in my early teens when Gothics came out. What do you think?
How far in did you play?
I got off the ship and went into a cave with some dushbag. So, about 20 minutes.
Can you list what you dislike about it?
1)The ridicules kickoff with your silly dude introducing himself to 30 npcs on a boat he is about to disembark.
2)The captain making no sense.
3)The voice acting.
4)The invisible wall on the beach.
5)A bunch of small, immersion-breaking thinks I can't recall.

It's not much, but the stench of an ambitious modder with no writing skills and desire to make his gameplay idea a reality, despite it not working outside of his head, was so overwhelming I gave up.

Around that time I was giving Risen another try. I think the beginning of this game is awesome, very pretty, very promising. Upon reaching the town, however, I was presented with a slew of annoying quest givers, a clear departure from the PB style of doing things in the og days. So I dropped it. Archolos gave me the same vibe (without the promising beginning), only much stronger.

I'm honestly tempted to install it right now. Maybe if I force myself through the first couple of hours, I'll be enlightened. But seriously, the stench is repulsive.

another minor nitpick:
it would be nice if the NPC schedules were somewhat randomized, e.g., currently it hits a certain time and they all start moving around, rather it activates within +/- 10 minutes of that time so they're less synced together.
I get the feeling it would cause a lot of headaches though, especially when debugging issues.

I agree with you about the intro being dumb. But shouting "this game sucks" based on only 20 minutes of play is equally dumb, especially since you're so emphatic about it.

The game is like 80 hours long. Nearly everybody adores it. Being so vitriolic towards it when you've barely completed the intro makes you look like you just want to hate it.
