Is it worth it to install the DX11 thing?
Worth it? You just copy and paste folder to another folder, nothing more, its not like you are spending hours on configuring this shit

I am trying to build a mage character. Here's what you have in comparison to vanilla:
1) Ability to scribe scrolls and it's fairly cheap. You can craft quite a lot of scrolls throughout the game.
2) Enemies have lower magic resistance in general.
3) Spells generally cost less mana to cast.
4) You only have to learn magic circles, you can not craft runes here at all, only find them.
5) You can not join mage's guild.
6) Nobody will teach you magic circles, you have to find books and learn them yourself, of course this costs you LP.
7) There's a bigger selection of potions in general, there are some additional recipes for potions that restore mana and they are easier to craft than potions from vanilla.
8) There are magic staves that function like 2 handed melee weapons and deal magic damage, and require you to have enough mana to equip them. I have no idea if increasing your strength boosts their magic damage, I've asked about it on steam forums, but nobody answered me.
9) There's jewelry that gives various bonuses to your spells. See my post on the previous page for some examples.
10) Almost forgot about cooking and food, there are recipes to create dishes that restore a hefty amount of you mana points.

So far I say it's better than vanilla NoTR, but is still is a pain in the ass to play in comparison to melee builds.

By the way, are there any staves to be found in the world or do I absolutely have to pay 500 gold to get it? I've already looted novice staff from one of the corpses.
Gothic2-2021-12-13-20-04-18-77.png

There's a great staff just outside silbach in the cave full of undead near Rita's vineyard. Strength DOES boost staff damage, and weapon training affects your hit percentage just the same. It's just magic damage rather than blunt/slashing

In general magic is much better here than in vanilla NOTR and I'm doing pure mage as well. The environmental/racial weaknesses they've added as well as dramatically reducing the cost and slightly expanding the spells to cover more bases handles all the problems in the base game nicely.

To explain, lightning spells do double damage to enemies in water or rain (when it rains you can go on a tear with the basic circle 1 lightning spell and clean up whole areas, haha), undead are weak to fire, flyers are weak to lightning in general, and constructs are weak to water. A 75 damage fireball does much more damage to a skeleton than a 100 damage ice lance, so I assume the weaknesses = double damage at least. They've also added new and more efficient aoe spells, there's a great circle 2 one that's been carrying me.

Finding magic circle books and runes is a great thrill and adds some real rewards for exploration instead of just having to stick a king's sorrel everywhere worthwhile.

Playing it and having fun, pretty good tho with some problems. Do you chaps know where i could learn lockpicking ?
Your brother will teach you after a certain point in the main quest of chapter 1.
LoL i was avoiding him because he is a mega retard. OHHHHH look it is foreign jungle in the middle of the night, let all yolo in to it and try to find the village..........gets wrecked by fucking blood flies lol. That said i go raped by a turtle so....clearly i am larping as a family.

Is the city part of the second chapter i could explore it before that ?

My main problems with the games are;

1 the unskippable hey you starting dialogue

2 the retarded 'how are you doing' dialogue option that adds nothing to the game. Should have been like the original where the npc ignores you if there is nothing to tell you, with combination the first problem it becomes super time waster

3 Lack of retroactivity on quest, like PB game. Good example is when you are send to find the guard rick or what eva its name was,you find him, kill the wolfs, then he tells you that he found some fish and wine on the wrecked boat. I presumed that he have it with him ,on the way found only sinlge fish crate and returned to the quest giver with the escorted fag. Then i found out that the wine and more fish was in the area around the boat, but could give it to the quest giver for full quest finish. Also some quests are unclear and you end up wondering if you need 5 or 4 or 6 stacks of X.

Reactivity in quests is on par with Gothic 2. Im in chapter 2 and have done about 30 quests most of the time there are multiple solutions and outcomes getting into the city quest for example has at least 4 solutions with different costs, difficulty and exp rewards.

As soon as i get up next morning i will continuing playing this Mod.
Ive already played nearly 6-8 Hours since the release. I was a bit sceptic at the beginning but it quickly started to catch me.
The Characters are well written and the world is filled with a lot of lovely details, gimmicks and improved gameplay-mechanics. Im very exited where these adventure will lead me.
In a gameindustrie thats drained out through cashcows, empty hypetrains and dozens of meh-Remasters, its truely a relief to play something where you can feel that someone put there heartblood and love in it.
By saying that a huge thank you to all of the programmers and developers who worked on it AND decided to make it Free-To-Play.

GLHF,
Valerio

If that shit takes forever, it's because you aren't playing with the polish voices on (probably a bug or something). Install the polish voices DLC and these "Hey you!" blurbs will take like half a second rather than half a minute

Damn, if i knew beforehand that i could get normal leather armor and a belt for it for free i would not have wasted 500 shekels buying them and just saved gold for chainmail and upgrade for it early on. My inner kike is oy-vey-ing right now :(

It shows up as DLC on steam. I guess they separated it to make the download smaller.

It'll probably fix your NPC greeting issue at least.

I've managed to waste quite a lot of gold here and there, but it's been great bumbling through a Gothic game for the first time since 2006 and getting fucked in the ass by a world that doesn't give a single shit about the player.

18 hours in and can't stop myself from grinning every time I wander through a beautifully constructed location or stumble into the lair of an overpowered beast that kills me in one hit. These staples of the series aside, what this team has achieved with everything else is truly amazing, and I hope PB is playing this mod too and taking notes.

Right on, nigga. Even though the story is not that interesting, at least in chapter 1. But gameplay is pretty much Gothic 2 with some refinement. Same profanity infused clunky combat i love and the rewarding feel of exploration like no other. I'm still in chapter 1 and getting the kicks from exploring, killing stuff and getting stronger. Found some fun exploits too.

I like the relatively down-to-earth start to this. It's certainly not as exciting as getting thrown through a magical barrier into a prison colony, but with the knowledge of future events (Archolos takes place 10 years prior to Gothic 1) impacting the unfurling lore of this part of the Gothic world we've never seen had me enthralled as a longtime fan. Also love the general mistrust and disdain piled on your little group of refugees, and the gradual sliver of acceptance you gather for yourself and them through your actions. The overarching stories have never been the draw of the series for me to begin with. It's the world and its inhabitants that's always drawn the majority of my interest, which Chronicle of Myrtana does well. The personal spin on things, with your family's involvement and the slow reveal of your circumstances is a nice touch as well.

Did anyone find a decent early 2h sword? Between Imminent Death and Elisium the only things I've found were 1H

Sadly, the reaction of npcs after getting beat is lacking compared to G2. They don't get mad, they won't refuse to talk to you, they don't recoil if you threaten them with a weapon, they won't run away. Seems like they all get a memory wipe so at most you'll get something like "oh, my head, kurwa...". It's easy to avoid getting reported for crimes too, so you can just run around and knock people out with almost no consequences. I got lots of cash and xp that way.

I met the guard from Gothic 1, Nek was his name. He lost his amulet and almost got eaten alive by molerats. He refused to go anywhere without his amulet, so i found it for him. Then i beat him up, took his precious amulet for myself. He reacted like nothing happened :(

Though i understand the sheer scale of Archolos and the devs being a mod team working for free was probably the reason why they toned down the amount of details and npc reactions.

Is Stone from Silbah the same Stone from Old Camp?
Yes.

Depends I tried that in the first villiage and everyone attacked me for hitting a farmer.
