B, I agree about the open updates. Sometimes people would rather have a few choices before them. I think the semi-open choices are best. For example, with this update just put down to approach the skeletons, leave this area, or investigate the tombs and then leave it open for any other suggestions.

I personally like the freedom of the open updates. As long as we don't get all open updates all the time, we should be fine.

Semi open updates are still open updates.

Hmm point taken about the open updates. I have been using them a tad too much lately. I could have used semi-open updates here and there.
My reasoning was that we have reached a somewhat... critical point of the story, in the sense that I do not want to influence how you vote. But in many situations I could have used a semi open update, giving you a few basic choices and then seeing what else you come up with. I think I will try to keep the open updates for situations where I really do not want to influence you in any way, and slap a few basic choices in the other updates. As long as you understand my proposed options are not always optimal

And for planning, can't give you choices when the update is: create a plan about what to do in the next few days/mission/whatever

And also, everyone wants daily updates XD

That is completely understandable. As for daily updates, you are on a roll so far and the quality is still top notch, in my opinion. I only suggest to continue that trend as long as you can handle it. I know I wouldn't be able to keep up on this with daily updates so kudos to you and your never ending pot of creativity.

Okay can we tell if theblue flames are attached to the bones or are they sorta floating there?also can we tell what killed the creature?

The flames are roaring inside the empty skeletons. They do not seem to originate from anything. They are indeed just floating there. Clearly magical, nothing is burning.

It is not clear what killed the creatures, the skeletons are undamaged.

Killed? I thought they were alive, as in a living, moving undead skeletal monster with blue soul o_O

But to be on the safe side, I will assume they are simply "asleep", either waking up at night or at some sort of incident like the eclipse

I prefer waiting for the scholar to update us on the meaning of the writings, maybe there are some useful information. And we have seen too much for today (story-time)

Just to confirm: the bodies outside and in the barracks - how old are they? Are they skeletons too?

Oh, one more thing: can we request more civilian to be included in this mission? I want to add a magic user, a priest will be fine but I prefer someone who can talk to spirits without screaming "BEGONE SATAN!"

They are skeletons, but no flames whatsoever there. And considering they are wearing Avarlos armors and uniforms, thousands of years old.

Well yes, IF you had magic users that would be nice. You COULD try to request one of those few devouts who supposedly can use a bit of magic, Lord Medah told you there are a -few-. But it would take time of course, supposing your request is accepted.

Well, they are unmoving. Whether they are asleep or dead you do not know. Since they are skeletons and they are still, I said they are -dead-. Kyoss never met the living dead you know. But yes, they could be undead. Or maybe not. Only I know XD

But hey you can know too, you just have to step inside the circle :P

Let's take Irene as well for a lover's suicide ;)

Oh well, on a serious note, request one of these very pious person to come here & help investigating. Even though it will take time and we might have finished cleaning up by then, he can still observe the supposed ward that burn the centipedes

Lets do this. He might have more knowledge than the scholar on what we are seeing. Plus befriending a guy that knows very basic magic can get us a bro that can teach us the basics of magic to get our foot in the door with magic. Then we can go brave the Ruins of Avarlos and find some magic books or some type of magic power there that we can study and become an advanced user of magic. Honestly, this is what direction I want our character to move towards.

Ignore my ramblings for now, it is late where I am, just know I +1 the idea of sending for a basic magic user.

+1 for charlatan priest to come help us out. Scholars who specialize in Avarlos and/or magic as well, please.

(I can't imagine anything that would be cooler than bringing down storms to smite your enemies with lightning, but whatev)

Bones are there, contained, ignore them. Completely. The wards around them must be active for a very good reason, any interference might be a very, very bad idea.
Regarding the updates, A, and less open updates. Freedom is good, but knowing the human soul lots will just read the first option put on the table and say 'Whatever, it's ok' and won't even post.
Also, yay for potentially evil and inhuman artifact.

Continue to explore and make an effort to appear unphased by all the magic, flames and zombies.

and, updates as fast as you can ofc and keep the updates open, its what makes this LP so good.

I'd also agree that we need a bit more discipline when it comes to choices. Giving us a couple of options and a possibility to add something of our own would work wonders for my decision making speed. As of now I just go with whatever someone else posts. Hell, I'm doing it right now. :D

I'd much rather we took out our shard and charged in burning with righteous hatred, screaming "BURN! PURGE! KILL!"
So that's what I'm voting.

And bros, before we decide to reveal the shard, we must decide if we're staying to work for Medah, solid, or if we're planning to dump the whole shebang as soon as magic comes along? Because I'm in favor of the latter, hence -1 to revealing the shard.

But I'm in favor of bringing her, be it by convincing her or through a love magic :(

I think for now we should simply use his back to rise through the ranks of the realm instead of stabbing him in it.

Keep the updates daily if possible, but every other day would be fine too. I love the fact that you update pretty much the same time every day. I know when then vote is closing and can try to argue one last time to sway someones vote. But then again if the vote is a tie or close, maybe then extra day to vote and argue wouldn't hurt.

I have been thinking this open vs semi-open update system for a while now. I would prefer open updates, I like the freedom and that you have to think what is the best move. But not everyone have the time to make their own suggestion. Or the imagination. With semi-open updates, I feel that Vernydar's suggestions have a bit of advantage. They are there from the start so people have more time to vote them.

But enough rambling. The update.
Post 4-5 soldiers to watch the skeleton beasts whenever we are in central courtyard. We are meddling with things we don't understand and might accidentally turn off the protection ward. This way we get an early warning.
Tell Irene about our feelings. No, not those feelings. The not-feeling-alone feeling. We have ignored this maybe four times already and I start to get a feeling that this is important. And the fact that this whole time we have felt rather calm. These feelings are not normal for this situation and Kyoss should realize it.
Leave the grove for now, and proceed to the halo. Like ScubaV said, this should complete superficial survey of the central courtyard and we can give initial report to the general. After that we can start exploring more thoroughly, and maybe do some animal experiments with those wards.

I don't think we should reveal our metal shard just yet. It would not profit anything yet. But sooner or later this exploration is going to be transfered to a host of scholars. Then we can show them the shard and say that we are most qualified with Avarlos since we have had avarlonian artifact for a long time. But of course if someone's life depend on revealing that shard then we should reveal it.

+1 to TOME

but keeping in mind we should try having a closer look at one of the fallen soldiers and make an effort to seem unperturbed by what we are finding.

I too agree with this. Although once in a while someone can get some good idea during semi-open choice (like hiding inside the corpse mountain in Qoor), generally people won't think too much and just choose what's right in front of their eyes. But open choice reduce vote participation when we really have no idea. I guess you can put semi-open on non-critical choices, but on critical update (like this) it's better to give open update so that people are forced to innovate

Putting that aside, :greatjob: for keeping the possibilities limitless.

And for telling Irene our feelings, just in case we're dying at one point our true feeling of her shall be our last words :incline:

This. I'm way too lazy to think of something. It would be far easier if we could just "cast fireball on it" on everything on sight, but whatever.

As far as the updates go, I vote A. I think with daily updates you'll eventually burn yourself out - noone can keep that up forever. Eventually it will be too much of a burden (or you'll run low on ideas) and then suddenly it will be once a week or abandoned (like other LPs on here), rather have updates every other day and keep it going for longer. And your readers won't necessarily be able to check in every single day, it's a bit frustrating to have one day away and return to find a major decision has gone in the wrong direction! For major decisions having two days allows a proper debate to develop.

As far as this vote goes I think TOME makes sense, both in terms of the approach to the courtyard and not revealing the shard unless we have to.

Me running out of ideas is not really an issue. I have already more or less planned enough to last for uh, way too long :P

Me burning out could indeed happen though, especially considering I have less free time now. And I'm going to have even less starting september. I will have to think about the possibility of doing 3-4 updates a week...

Anyway, as I said I will let this update run till tomorrow. Feel free to ask if you have other questions.
